  1. Thanks for all the best wishes for my skirmish across to Sydney yesterday, and for the translations!! First thing I saw as i got on the train in Sydney was people wearing hats, gloves and scarves! It was a nice sunny day, and I was overheating in my suit!! Made me chuckle.
  2. Brrrrrr mind you my flight lands at midday, my 1.5 interview hour slot is at 1pm, then straight back to the airport, so hopefully the pace of things will keep me warm enough, but thanks for the heads up. 3 tshirts and long socks might just do it! :biglaugh: Always a good interview look methinks!
  3. Off to Sydney for the day this Thursday! Sounds daft but through to the final interview stage for a role for a Sydney based business, for a position in Perth!
  4. Hi @odies, yes we liked the feel and tranquility of Connolly, and the golf course being so close is a big bonus, once my clubs arrive. The pool is something Karen, my wife wanted, I'm sure its a fund drainer, but in the early days, making her comfortable and happy is key, and anything to help stop us both feeling homesick, is worth paying for I reckon. With the train system close by we can be in CBD quickly too! If you fancy a beer sometime, let me know!
  5. Thanks for all the comments and advice, after reading @Skeelsy about bugs etc etc, I fear I will never read another letter in the postbox ever again, and if there was ever something to help me lose some weight, it's the bugs in the pantry! As for the advice on the broadband, thanks to all, we will visit a store to see what they can offer, but as I said worse case scenario is wait till IMMI say yes! (If they don't now, then e600 and a one year holiday begins!)
  6. The good news today is, we have moved into our new home in Connelly. First backwards step also today, Optus have now decided to decline our request for internet and phone services, which as we had been approved via an on-line salesman, was unexpected. They don't say why, but I suspect it's the fact we are on a visitors visa! Not to worry, upwards and onwards!
  7. Hi, so far we have done everything on visitor visa, and only had to show either driving license or passport to prove who we are. We are paying 6 months rent upfront, which in a stalled rental market, added massive sway to our lease agreement! By the way, thats not my opinion of the rental market, this was said by 3 of the 5 real estate agents we met!
  8. Hi, we haven't been asked for anything yet but requested form 80, and completed these a few weeks back. Gone all in, going to look rather foolish if we are refused now :elvis: Happy to meet for a drink anytime!
  9. Quick update for those still in the waiting room. After 10 days in Perth we have secured a rental, and move in on Wednesday, purchased a small run about car, purchased a Nissan Pathfinder, bought new furniture, new white goods, ordered new phones & broadband, been asked to leave a beach in Scarborough, as we were walking our sons dog, on the wrong beach! yep been busy, but it also took our thoughts away from the slow moving IMMI progress
  10. To be honest I'm not sure, our son says get one, I believe its a loyalty card, similar to a Tesco card. But when in Rome and all that!!
  11. It is that hard, we did all this over the last couple of weeks so cry those tears, let them roll, then once on the plane, have a drink or three, relax, and start your new life. I mean here we are less than a week in, living the dream having just got our Flybuys discount cards, purchased our Entertainment discount book........... what more can you want from life? Bring it on Perth!!
  12. Cheers for the advice @Bear2015.... initially looking to rent, and I'm in sales, so anyone dealing with me, always gets a smooth pleasant ride when I'm buying! I would also advise negotiating if renting, we were told yesterday by an English rental agent, that the rental market in the Joondalup area is dead on its feet at the moment, music to my ears!
  13. Hope all is still ok @Skeelsy We have had a full bank holiday weekend here in Perth, and have been cruising around the area, looking at different places we might want to settle in, and had 2 viewings today North of Perth, around the Joondalup area. The estate agent pictures sure are different to the actual places though! Coldest day in Perth in the last five years today too! Typical
  14. Hi Julie, from my son going to centre link, to paying the AOS it has taken 4 weeks, but that includes a delay due to circumstances his end, but now done, fingers crossed everything is lined up for IMMI to assess.
  15. Great news! What additional paperwork did they request if nothing personal?
  16. Arrived in Perth last fantastic door to door journey with Emirates. This morning bank debit cards collected with no problems and now about to pay AOS!
  17. Thanks, but I'm still in the waiting room, just we shuffled up to the sunny end!
  18. Thanks for the thanks! Jersey Boys was indeed a top choice to watch. Pity the same couldn't be said for the railways, with cancelled trains and delays, but now back at the hotel, last minute packing changes, before being picked up at 9.30am tomorrow. Right now, who gives a fig for the visa process? That sentiment will change early next week, I'm sure. See you on the other side people :cute:
  19. A day in London to see Jersey Boys then this time tomorrow we will be off! It sure zooms up on you the closer the date booked for flights gets closer!
  20. We were told all is ok if we heard nothing, but still wanted to see results, and a massive pressure taken away once we saw them! Enjoy Sydney when you get there. As you say our flights out are ever closer, which brings a smile to our faces, pity without 143 though, but all good things etc etc ?
