  1. As of 1400 26/10 GBP v. AUD = 1.7206 I could now get 1.7130 from my currency provider. I am not able to state the name on this web site.
  2. I have used True Traveller that specialises in migrant policies. It will cover you right up to the date you become properly settled in AUS, not just when you arrive. Depending on the level of insurance it also covers 7 days out of AUS that we will need to validate the visa. I had to make a small claim on the policy and I was refunded without any quibble. Highly recommended.
  3. Having sent my AOS acceptance letter to PVC on 2nd Oct I have, at long last today, received the request to pay the 2nd VAC. We now have 28 days to leave Aus before coming back on the full PR. Sent from my iPhone using PomsinOz
  4. I’m sorry but that’s totally outrageous. I know some on here would say, “If you don’t like it then go back home,” but that’s not valid. This country is offering the visa so it should be processed with some diligence. Of course, IMMI have done nothing wrong, they are clear on the website that people wouldn’t sell up and move until their visa has been granted but there should be some calculation in this. Like others on this site, I was told the processing time of 18 months. OK I will go along with some slippage but how can folks being at the end of the line be delayed by the same amount of time as others who are just starting the process? I have now reached 35 months how can it take so long to produce a one sided piece of paper? Having taken the 14k it is fair to assume that the actual consideration of granting the visa has been conducted and the final two payments is simply a tick the box exercise. I do have the patience of a Saint but I can’t abide simple poor efficiency - rant over and back to the naughty step!!! Sent from my iPhone using PomsinOz
  5. Seriously Hacked Off I sent PVC a PDF showing my AOS Acceptance Letter 11 days ago. The indication was that once this letter was received I would be invited to pay the 2nd VAC. To date I have heard absolutely nothing. Bearing in mind their 28 day deadline, you would think there would be a common decency to acknowledge receipt if nothing else. Bearing in mind Centrelink have already enjoyed my $14,000 for the past two months you would think there should now be some expedited approach to getting the visa finalised. What on this earth is the problem? Why can some get a response within 2 days and others not? I would love to complain but I don’t have to imagine what would happen to my file in the queue! 6. For me, it took 3 weeks after submission of the AOS application. It then took a further 2 weeks for the Centrelink letter to arrive to present at the bank. Having submitted the AOS bond, it then took a further couple of weeks for the acceptance letter to arrive. I forwarded this letter to Immigration 10 days ago and have heard absolutely nothing since. Just keeping sitting on your hands and watch the paint dry! Sent from my iPhone using PomsinOz
  7. Thank you, that sounds realistic. Fingers crossed I will get something through in the next few days. Good luck Sent from my iPhone using PomsinOz
  8. Hi BendaM I hope you can assist please? How long after sending the AOS Acceptance Letter back to PVS did you get the request to pay the 2nd VAC? Many thanks Sent from my iPhone using PomsinOz
  9. How long after sending your AOS Acceptance Letter was the request for 2nd VAC please? Sent from my iPhone using PomsinOz
  10. AOS acceptance letter received today. That has taken 3 weeks from the deposit of our AOS bond at the Commonwealth Bank. I have now sent this to our Case Officer and will return to sitting on my hands. Sent from my iPhone using PomsinOz
  11. I used the online PDF form. Printed the signature page - scanned that page back on and sent it through as an attachment to PVC. Sent using Poms in Oz mobile app
  12. In WA, the licensing centre have access to your Visa details. I got mine on the back of a Visitors 600 visa. The clerk stated that by law I didn't need one, which I knew, but I went ahead anyway due to the advantages it has. Sent using Poms in Oz mobile app
  13. For WA - Firstly the application form and your UK licence. I supported ID with my passport, and EFTPOS bank cards and I think a bank statement with my AU address. They automatically give you basic car and motorcycle (if on your UK licence). Any other groups such as goods or large passenger transport are subject to a separate AU test. 14. Agree and not sure of the NSW licence format but the WA licences have your AU address in them which avoids having to find other supporting documents. Sent using Poms in Oz mobile app
  15. One piece of advice to folks on their way - even though I have been on a Visitors visa, it has been very useful to get my Aussie driving licence. Most authorities, and other agencies seem to rely on the driving licence as a good source of ID. It has helped us in home rental, Medicare and other occasions when you need to prove and address in AU. By law, you don't need one as a Visitor or for a period of time after getting PR but it's well worth it. I am in WA and took out a 5 year licence which worked out a little cheaper. 16. Hi Annabel My CPV was lodged on 1st Dec 2014. It seems like a lifetime ago!! Sent using Poms in Oz mobile app
  17. Hi Annabel The forecast for Centrelink has recently been posted as a 3 month wait but as they don't provide any communication about receipt of paperwork, we decided to chase them. We gave it 6 weeks and my daughter spoke to someone in Canberra who was very helpful. Anyway, things seemed to move after the call and we deposited the AOS a couple of weeks later. One point of interest, after depositing the AOS I sent copies of the deposit agreement, proof of payment receipt etc to IMMI but they STILL want a letter of acceptance from Centrelink. Apparently this will take another 2 weeks to receive arrggh. Sent using Poms in Oz mobile app
  18. You are not given any receipts for the paperwork. You should hear from them by letter after about 10-12 weeks. Sent using Poms in Oz mobile app
  19. Hi Gafuk I received the invitation email on 3rd July. My only advice is to get on with it as soon as you can. Centrelink have so far delayed the end process but a little chasing might not do any harm. Good luck Sent using Poms in Oz mobile app
  20. There is the sum for the first VAC following successful application the fee is currently $14,000 for the Centrelink AOS bond and $87,200 for both of your parents for the second VAC. I am not an IMMI agent but I don't think the new parent visas lead to permanent residency? As both of your parent are over 65 they could stay in Aus on a bridging visa. 21. Today my daughter received letter from Centrelink to lodge the AOS bond with Commonwealth Bank. So off we went, completed the paperwork, deposited the required $14,000 (me and the wife) and charged $150 for the privilege. Interest from the bond is paid into the sponsors bank account every 6 months so that will be recovered. We now have to send proof of payment etc to Centrelink who will then notify IMMI PVC. Shouldn't be too long now. Date of lodgement 01/12/2014. Sent from my iPhone using PomsinOz
  22. Medicals are sent direct to IMMI by BUPA. The police checks you scan and send. Sent using Poms in Oz mobile app
  23. They can apply for a NCPV but there is no bridging visa for them, just a very long wait of several years that is why folks are changing to a 143. Sent using Poms in Oz mobile app
  24. How old are your parents? If over 65 then they may get a bridging visa but they won't get anything else unless their home country has a reciprocal agreement with Aus to pay for medical treatment. The UK and Aus have such an agreement but it doesn't pay for everything. If your parents come in on a Visitors visa, the bridging visa will only extend that visa and any of the conditions that are appended to it. Best do your homework. PS. I waited until my daughter had been resident for 2 years before applying as that is a guideline that is used to describe a 'settled' migrant. Sent from my iPhone using PomsinOz
