  1. I got my invite with 60 points, additional 5 would be a luxury.
  2. Hi BeckieC, I agree with Rupert for an extent. You don't need to get membership before you move here, however if you are going to live here for good might as well get the CPA membership as its more recognised here in Australia than the CIMA. Next important point is you also need a skilled employment assessment to claim points for work experience. The trick is they only award points for post qualification work experience. From your earlier post I gathered that you are a recent graduate and if CIMA is the only Accounting qualification (unless you have a previous qualification in Accounting) claiming points for your entire duration of work experience would not be possible.
  3. My agent called me first and then he sent me the confirmation
  4. Thanks Dannielle24. Neither I nor my agent knew I had a case officer allocated and grant came through this morning. I was hoping they will ask for a skilled employment assessment and a form 80. But they didn't and am over the moon right now. Since you have front loaded all the required documents should get yours some time this week. Good luck mate.. Share the good news with us when you have it .. Cheers
  5. And oh I wasn't required CPA skilled employment assessment even though i claimed points for work experience, got the grant without it .. Little bit surprised
  6. Hi Gang, I got my grant this morning and thought I'll update my timeline. ANZSCO Code- 221111 (Accountant General), EOI 06/02/14 (60pts), Invite 24/02/14, Lodged 28/03/14, Direct Grant 06/05/14 Good Luck rest of the gang who are awaiting their grants.
  7. Thanks Tigerstripes.. I was wondering if I were the only one to be left out this month.. Congrats and good luck with your application
  8. Hey Din4, If you are between 25-32 you shouldn't have any problem achieving required 60 pts with 7 bands each in IELTS right?
  9. Just in time to enjoy the summer ei?? I'm already in Melbourne
  10. Hi John, If you haven't done your EOI yet, it is best that you do one asap. You don't have to wait till skill assessment to arrive as EOI is valid for 60 days. It is hard predict your chances of getting one by next round until DIAC publish current round results. As for the second question I believe you should consult a professional as the time frames could be tricky and highly unreliable. I'm not exactly sure what would happen if you don't serve required 2 years in the relevant state but a friend mine did the same thing on a 187 RSMS and didn't do his required 2 years with nominated employer. A year after getting his PR he went through citizenship process and DIAC queried whether he has completed his required 2 years in the regional area. Since he hasn't, they asked him complete his 2 years before applying for citizenship. In this case they didn't strip his residency but it is really a gray area I guess. Good Luck
  11. Not sure exactly why but I reckon it's mainly because medicals and PCC are only valid for a year and back in the day DIAC took a long time to process application. Times are changed now and I don't think doing your medical now would change anything. When you planning to be in OZ land by?
  12. Hey Tigerstripes, Congrats on your invite, If you don't me asking under what code you are applying and how many points you had? I lodged my EOI on the 06/02/14 under 2211 (Accountant), 60pts and still waiting for a response. Thanks
  13. Congrats Bissy .. Does anyone lodged EOI in Feb got their invite yet? I applied for mine on the 6th of Feb under 2211 (Accountant), 60 points. I think I might have to wait till next round I guess ..
  14. Elpistolero, It depends on what kind of Accountant are you? I'm a taxation accountant myself who happened to find a job straight out of uni (yes I was an international student who hailed from a developing country). One mistake people make is generalise Accounting profession and come to a conclusion. If you are a Taxation, Insolvency, Business services Accountant you'll find it relatively easy to find work as oppose to either Financial or Management Accountant. If you already hold a professional qualification which allows you to become a fully qualified CPA (such as CIMA), your chances are even greater.
  15. DianaK. No offense but it's funny how you have judged English language skills of International Students in Australia based on a tv program.
