  1. My wifes are online but nothing in the post. There is some message about online results only been provisional, do they often change
  2. Seems our concerns were not needed, she scored 9.0 for Speaking
  3. Yeah the first part of a long process, I'm pleased to report full calmness has been restored.
  4. Cheers for the support everyone. I have been saying the whole process flow for visas appears to be more logical now.
  5. I'm quite calm, just been getting a bit of an ear bashing off the wife. Was just wondering if anyone else had, had a similar experiance
  6. Not that it matters, but the speaking part was actually in a different location to the first part. These examiners for speaking were not involved during the test in the morning. They had 20 people to see each between 13.00 - 18.00 We have thought about a complaint, but this could just come across as sour grapes if the required results are not achieved.
  7. My better half took her IELTS test yesterday, the organisation seemed a bit **** to be honest. The first part was at 9am, the second part was 17.10 That aside, she was a bit bemused by the examiner for the speaking part. The examiner arrived ten minutes late, proceeded to piss about closing windows and blinds, before finally sitting down to start the test. During the test, it seemed like she was trying to catch up on the time, I'm told it almost turned in to a competition to see who could speak the fastest. When they are so adamant about not been late for the test, surely it not too much to expect IELTS representatives to act in the same manner.
  8. A good VPN/Smart DNS will give you access to most of them channels. You will get all the BBC channels/ITV live and be able to use iplayer as if you were in the UK. Your looking at £10 max per month for this. For the SKY channels you need a nice person you give you access to their SKY Go and you would be able to watch channels over the internet depending on what sky package they have. Not sure how useful this will be with the time difference involved. As for DVR type access, there is one company that offers this with some of the UK freeview channels, Filmon, i have no experience of how good their service is.
  9. It seems NT had a strong jobs market with allot of vacancies, is this still the case? We are two adults and were originally looking at ACT, but quite like the idea of Darwin now. I am working in IT and my wife is an accountant. I've registered on the territory gov site but that appears to just make my cv available to agencies rather than listing jobs
  10. We are far too early in the process to been using agents. I'm gathering information from as many sources as I can to see is this move is viable for us. Worst case scenario is us saying, what if the qualifications aren't counted as much, what if we miss points on this and that
  11. Anyone got a link to something more up to date? We are going with worst case scenario when using these calculators
  12. I'm only using these points calculators as a rough guide while we are still in the planning process
  13. I see alot of people talking about they have enough points (60) I've used a few points calculator sites mainly (http://www.migrationmatters.com/australiapoints.php) and they all state 65? Am I missing something?
  14. We're in eastern Europe, I'll find out if she is a member of the equivalent here
  15. Nah the English speaking country is England. It's a strange rule it looks like her eight years experience will be more use to us then the degree
  16. Sounds like the hard disk is on its way out, but you should be able to get your data off first
  17. Thanks for clearing that up, need to have another go on the points thing
  18. So if we put down the recent degree we can't claim points for the 8 years+ work experience prior to it?
  19. Hi, we've been thinking about moving on for awhile now and Australia was the preferred choice. We were lucky enough to meet a guy from Canberra who is spending a year over here. Whilst he wouldnt be able to help us migrate to ACT, if we got there he can give sound advice on 2nd hand cars, rental flats and so on
  20. Busy doing lots of research at the moment to see if this move will be possible for me (age 34 and my wife age 32). Due to our current situation it is likely we would try to move to Aus via the Skilled 190 visa, this would be via my wife's skills, not mine. My wife is an accountant with over 8 years experience, five years of which is working for companies in England. For the three we have returned to Europe so she could complete what I think is a fast track degree (two years). This appears to be the first big stumbling block regarding points, we are currently trying to find out if this is in fact a degree. To attend the course she had to prove previous education and have a number of years experience. To complete the course she had to produce a final thesis. So in short Is work experience in an English speaking country worth more than 'overseas work experience' & Is there a simple way if this foreign qualification will be recognised in Australia?
  21. Ok try the following Switch on the laptop, Tap F8 five or six times. Hopefully the boot menu will appear use the arrow keys and press enter on "Last known good configuration" See if Windows boots If that doesnt work restart the laptop, tap F8 again until the boot options menu comes up, try the option for Safe Mode. If the laptop boots in to safe mode do the following Navigate to the Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools program group. Click on the System Restore program icon. Click Next > on the Restore system files and settings window. Choose the restore point that you want to use. (Pick a one before the dodgy updates or a week ago) Click Next > Click Finish on the Confirm your restore point window to begin the System Restore. Windows will attempt the restore and reboot
  22. Does your laptop show any signs of life/error messages when you start it up?
  23. Hello, my wife and I are looking in to moving to ACT in the future. Enjoyed reading allot of threads on here, picking up some valuable tips and advice
