  1. Hi My Husband as worked in this environment for a number of years undertaking many duties within the foundry including working within the paint plant (spraying components for a range of cookers) spot weld and riveting sections and working within the press shop operating press break machinery. He as been trained to undertake tasks using radial drills, pedestal drills, Tapping machines and manual lathes. He was also able to achieve his stacker truck licence. He as also worked within the main foundry on the knockout taking the hot castings from the track and loading them into skips, experience working on the pig bed (scrapping the unwanted iron) and the auto pours knocking out the old lining ready for the new lining to be applied ready for use. We have been trying to obtain visa but his range of experienced skills can not be defined to fit into a visa category. Please can you help us in anyway or give us an advice. Thank you

  3. Hi all. On a positive my hubby and I took a chance and drove down to Birmingham on Sunday (45 minutes drive away). We appreciate all of the comments and advice that is on the forum and have found these very useful but out of curiosity thought that we would give it a chance. we gathered a little more info ( Jobs, qualifications etc) and spoke to people in the same situation as ourselves. we enjoyed our trip and came back home full of excitement so the day was not a waste of time.
  4. Hi. We've been there and done that. All settled in the south of Spain new build villa, kids in school, lots of friends made we were just grasping the language, good jobs when BANG the recession hit. Spain crumbled over night along with our short lived life style. Came back to the UK and had to start again from scratch. That was six years ago
  5. Hi all sorry I haven't replied to any of your posts, but just recovering from the biggest kick in the teeth ever. My daughter is still insisting that she's not leaving, not even when her grandparents emigrate( July 2014) to be near my sister who lives in Adelaide. We are going ahead with the visa process and hope everything falls into place. I know it will be a miracle but I've heard that they do happen.
  6. Well our Australian dream is over. Our 16yr old says that she doesn't want to move Australia, she never wanted to move to Australia and she's definitely not moving to Australia. Never mind that there will be no extended family in the U.K. Nothing is going to change her mind. oh well it was nice while it lasted. Good luck everyone hope your Australian dreams come true.

  9. Thanks for everyone's help so far. With my sister already in Adelaide and my mum and dad emigrating to Australia later this year lets hope that the family bond will stay strong. Hope we can come to some agreement soon for all our sakes. If anyone who is already in Australia has teenagers perhaps we can set up some email pals for her so she can speak to people of her own age. Thanks again.
