Congratulations @garyjames , it's a fantastic forum isn't it? hope you celebrate well!

I used a rucksack for my WHV, it was easier to carry around and grab from coaches, trains etc. Go for one that spreads the weight evenly and feels comfortable for you (ie. that you're not going to topple over!). It can be a pain having to empty it if the item you want is right at the bottom but other than that, it is much easier than lugging a suitcase around (and it's also more comfy to sit on / lean against if you have long waits anywhere :wink:)

No idea about putting a pool but can we fast forward to when the first pool party at yours will be please? :yes::rolleyes:

Oh my days - I stayed off PIO for one evening and it's gone all Carry On style ha ha - as I said on another thread, I was genuinely sweet and innocent before I signed up to this forum, now I'll never be able to look at jelly in the same way again :wink: Right I'm off to vote on dates

Don't worry too much about it - I'm hopeless when it comes to spiders (as in tears, can't look at pictures of them, full on radar if I go into a room where I think there may be one etc - urgh feeling creepy just thinking about them, ridiculous I know ha ha!). When I did my WHV I was really worried on the flight over about them (plus my OH at the time had a fear of snakes so we were a bit rubbish between us!) - I travelled around most of the East Coast and can honestly say I didn't really see that many. As for the ones I did see - I've seen much worse in the UK. I even braved sleeping out under the stars on a some of our travels and didn't see anything too bad at all. I have heard some horror stories about large ones but personally I never saw anything like that - you'd have probably heard me screaming all the way in the UK if I had :laugh:

August's a bit busy for me but depending on which weekend it is, it could potentially work

Just seen this thread - I'm in Bit like @Tappers2oz bit tricky getting to places from sunny Devon but I'd be happy to travel

Having lived in various parts of the UK, I'd have to agree with this, it's the most beautiful county I've ever lived in. I really love the coastline of Cornwall too but from a practical level workwise think it would be tricky. For diversity and culture, you can't beat London

Hi @Killara , thanks for the reply, apologies for the late thanks but I've only just noticed this was posted! Thanks for the update re being admitted to different states, I wasn't aware that had changed

My sister flew back to the UK last Christmas with Etihad and was really impressed with them - she normally flies Emirates but Etihad were coming out much better price wise
