  1. All of our paperwork was lodged on 26/06. We are onshore with 457, trying to change to new employer, who is not existing sponsor, OH can't work until all granted. MA has only just tried to get it expedited but no word yet. Have applied for a password using the TRN the MA had on some correspondence. How long does DIAC take to send back that password anyone? Would be really grateful for some feedback on this please! We are 8 weeks on Wednesday with not a word. It's very confusing when some nominations / applications etc are being granted in days, and we are waiting onshore, for transfer, with no news. Thanks to anyone with any useful input.
  2. Thanks Joe. Unfortunately, it's a bit late for us to pursue these lines. If I had PR I wouldn't be applying for 457 change of employer and I can't wait for invitation to apply for 188 subclass visa, nor do I have another min. $4065 to spend. But I appreciate your taking the time to send these links. I am cross with my MA that she didn't suggest 188 though, but we are on a very tight timeline, so perhaps that's why. Nothing I can do now, except wait and see, and eat beans on toast.
  3. Thanks for this Joebloggs. It's actually a bit comforting because the position certainly is skilled, and the business is ready to expand immediately, to take on apprentices, start training them etc. If a Case Officer looks at the totality of the situation, it should be okay. Of course there's no idea when the CO will be assigned so I'm still extremely concerned about finances. But slightly less worried about the family-involved situation. Thank you.
  4. I'm absolutely distraught reading this thread and petrified about our application. Our MA advised us to self-sponsor, we have spent a fortune setting up company, paying accountant and miscellaneous other costs. OH can't work until SBS is confirmed/nomination approved/employer changed (he is on a 457 now but was let go by original employer). Our funds are slipping away despite living frugally, and I have a job offer pending. We haven't a case officer yet despite applying on 26 June, but I am about to throw up reading this about family-involved sponsorship. I am absolutely terrified that we will be refused, and we (OH, me, 3 kids) will have to leave having spent virtually everything getting here. All we want to do is pay tax, develop our business, contribute to society etc. I'm a bit unclear though about the family-involved sponsorship - it's obviously not explicitly banned? It doesn't say anywhere that it's *not* allowed as far as I can see. I can't believe this. It's a very bad dream.
  5. Hi everyone In a bit of a odd situation; on 457, OH was let go by employer, tried to get new sponsor, no luck. Several people suggested setting up own company to self-sponsor. Got advice from MA that it was legal, doable, reasonable etc. Have done all the right things, gotten ABN, bought a UTE, written cash flow, committed to training, job offers, etc etc. MA lodged SBS application on 27 June, with nomination for position for OH. Nomination for OH would just be a change of employer, ie not a new visa, just a change. MA has just been in touch requesting some revised / some new docs bearing in mind new regulations (very very unfair to apply 1 July rules retrospectively - I doubt DIAC would allow Joe Bloggs to use lower points, for example, or an occupation from a previous SOL, very unfair... but I digress).... waiting to get a CO assigned. I'm very very anxious. OH can't work till our firm is accepted as new SBS and until change of employer is effected. Our funds are running low, the prospective business he has lined up might go elsewhere if he can't start working, I have a job offer in a local school for a year but I would be absolutely mortified if I had to say no to the job, he wants to take on Aus workers, but he can't until he knows that the business can start trading... a very distressing place to be... the children are in school, and we are totally immersed in the community here. It's over 28 days since the paperwork was lodged by MA and not even a CO assigned. I'm just so stressed out. Anyone know how long this might all take?
