  1. I've recently started a new job (6 months ago) in the security industry here in the UK working as a trainee security engineer installing and servicing fire alarms, intruder alarms, cctv cameras and access control systems. I'm currently 27 and hoping to emigrate to Australia within the next 3-4 years once i have gained enough experience maybe sooner. As the job only offers in house training and with no certification at the end of it will i need a form of certification in order to emigrate out to Australia? If so what certification will be accepted city & guilds? Also what additional courses would i need to do in Australia before i work in this industry out there? Thanks
  2. Hi all, I'm hoping to emigrate out to Australia in the near future and wondering what i'd get taxed for working and living in Australia on a sponsored 457 visa or permanent visa? What percentage would i need to pay on income tax if i were to earn 70,000-80,000 AUD a year and other then income tax what other payments are likely to come out of a salary? Cheers
  3. Hi all, I have just started a new job here in the UK as a trainee security engineer with a dream of one day in the next 3-4 years moving out to Australia to do this type of work ( I'm currently 27). For the first few months to a year i'll be working alongside a senior engineer installing and servicing fire alarms, cctv cameras, intruder alarms and access control systems. Having been told that I won't be receiving any certification once I've completed the training which is all in house training will the experience along with a job reference be enough to emigrate to Australia in the future or will i need that certificate to show that i am qualified to do the job?

  6. Thanks guys for your comments! Can someone recommend a good place to start for farming work if me and my girlfriend arrive in march/april next year? We plan to get 88 days farming/regional work out of the way first to give us that option of staying an extra year if everything works out.
  7. Hi all, First of all me and my girlfriend are looking at going to australia next year ( between march and april) on a working holiday visa. Having spoken to a few travel companies real gap and sta travel they both offer the same package ie flights, whv, hostel for the first week, australian bank set up, insurance and a year contract with a job agency plus job advice all for around £750pp exclusive of flights. Global work and travel agency offer everything that I've already mentioned and a job opportunity as well. Has anyone on here ever used any of these agencies? If so what advice can you give me? Am i better off booking everything myself or booking through one of these companies? Also where would be an ideal place to start the working holiday experience job wise? Many Thanks
  8. Hi all, My dream is to emigrate to Australia before I'm 32 ( I'm currently 27) I'm after some advice on becoming a domestic gas engineer or electrician. Which one will have the most prospects in australia? Also will i be better off training to become a gas engineer/electrician in australia or should i do an apprenticeship here in the uk before i emigrate? If the answer is train in australia will i need to have a permanent visa in order to do an apprenticeship in australia? Many Thanks
  9. Hi all, I would like to study to become a plumber and heating engineer with a dream of emigrating to Australia in the near future but not sure where i should do the course. Would i be wasting my money doing a plumbing and heating course here in the UK with the intentions to emigrate to Australia in the near future or would i be better off paying to do a plumbing and heating course in Australia? Also what is the minimum hourly pay rate for a newly qualified plumber in Australia? Many Thanks
