  1. Have you approached migration WA and receive the release letter?
  2. Well I have not approached the Migration Office yet as I am still searching for jobs here in WA. However, I have heard from so many posters around here that if you have an offer from outside the state, then you can go to the migration office, show them the offer and can get the release letter easily. I suggest you to go there and talk to them.
  3. When I looked at immigration dept website for the list of relatives who can sponsor, then I found out the following: The relative or the relative’s partner you want to sponsor must be your: child or stepchild parent or step-parent brother, sister, adoptive brother, adoptive sister, stepbrother, step sister, niece, nephew, adoptive niece, adoptive nephew, step niece, step nephew, aunt, uncle, adoptive aunt, adoptive uncle grandparent or first cousin. Your sponsor should provide certain documents as listed in the document checklist Where in this it states that you can sponsor your sister in law or brother in law? Can anyone clarify?
  4. I don't know about Points 1 and 3. However as far as Point 2 is concerned, then you have been mislead. Under skills select, having positive skill assessment and 60 points is not enough. You need to receive invitation before you can lodge a visa application. That's for sure.
  5. Thank you very much for the advice
  6. I am finding it hard to get a job out here in Perth. An acquaintance of mine suggested that he can find me work there in Albany if I was willing to make a move. That's why I wanted to find about some information before making the final decision.
  7. I am planning to move to Albany but before that I want to gather as much information as possible. Can anyone here tell me about Albany? How's it like? The weather there, accommodation, suburbs, transportation system, Job prospects etc
  8. I am in the same predicament. I have applied for countless jobs many of which was step-down from what I was doing in the past but still not even a single interview call let alone the job offer. That is for the field I was granted my PR for, I even tried out for several in between jobs and that too for no avail. Having said that I have not yet decided to move on. However, if the situation doesn't change in couple of months then I may also have to take the same route. Any suggestion in this regard will be appreciated.
  9. Hi Alan, I read the entire thread for the first time and my eyes are filled with tears. I am also a migrant to Perth and have not found the work for four months. I was feeling depressed and sometimes questioning my decision to migrate. So I can understand how hard It must have been for you. Going by the first posting of this thread, it is more than 2 years old and that's why I admire you even for your sheer perseverance and will to survive. I wish I could have been of some help. But please don't loose the hope. I am sure you will get over it sooner than later. I am keeping my fingers crossed. Cheers!!!
  10. Thanks for the advice, I will definitely be trying it. Very true about the lack of Australian experience. But the other day, someone was telling me that the lack of WA experience is just a convenient excuse. Unless and until you find some one to provide you with a referral, its almost impossible to land up with a job here in WA.
  11. Yes. I have even customized the cover letter according to the hints provided in the Seek.
  12. Do I need to obtain release letter for travelling back to my home country as well?
  13. What makes you think that Perth is cheaper than Darwin? Right now Perth may the most expensive city in entire Australia esp for the new migrants. By the way, I am not trying to discourage you but you may find out once you land here in Oz that whatever overseas experience you have counts here for nothing. Only local experience counts here esp in WA and you have to start from the scratch. P.S. Perth is the most isolated metropolis in the world.
  14. You have a valid point. But as much as I want to honor my commitment, how do you expect me to sustain here for a year unemployed? WA is expensive. What about returning back to my home country and return after few months when hopefully the job market will be little rosier?
  15. I have received SN 190 visa which states that I need to stay first two years in WA. I have been here in Perth for 4 months and I have not been able to find any kind of job what so ever. I have a relative in Sydney who says he can help me find at least some part time job out there. Now the question is can I move to Sydney? If yes, do I need to inform the authorities here and take any sort of release notes from them?
  16. I tried my details (same ones) in another computer and it worked fine. May be my IP address was blocked.

    Sol 2014

Does anyone know anything about the new skilled occupation list? I mean when is it going to be published and is there any truth behind the rumors behind culling of several engineering disciplines from the list?
  18. Hi Freckleface! Thanks for all the advice regarding the resume building. It would have been nicer if I could have accessed your CV template. Anyways, Can I ask you for a little bit of personalized advice. I am a civil engineer with PR visa. I arrived to Perth 2 months back and since then I have been applying for loads of jobs. Unfortunately, I have not received a single call for interview. Can you please advise me a better way to seek job? Best Regards
  19. All the best Ishaan & Aanchal. Thank you for sharing your experience. All the best for your new life in Australia.
  20. Thank you for the information. I really appreciate it.
  21. We are a couple moving to Perth in Jan/Feb 2014. Can anyone suggest us a nice locality to live in? It would be helpful if you can provide the rental details as well. Thank You
