  1. Back in the UK on holiday at the moment. This will probably be an unpopular opinion, but here goes... My parents live in a rural part of East Sussex surrounded by farm land, so they're very lucky to have such a feeling of space around them. However, since I've got back I've noticed signs of mass housing development everywhere. Now I know we need more houses, but it's depressing to me seeing these massive developments of several hundred plus houses being built on greenbelt land or in little villages. Britain is known for its beautiful countryside, but I guess the need or sense of entitlement for every man and his dog to own or be given a house takes precedence over something so trifling as preserving our areas of natural beauty.
  2. Are there ways to make money while looking for a job like temping or driving for uber (prob last resort)?
  3. One thing I have noticed is a LOT of Asian girls are obsessed with white guys (in a dating sense).

  5. Yes Ali I agree life is what you make of it and as the others have said if you don't like leave x
  6. Not sure if allowed to post links but here are some pretty condemning reviews https://www.numbeo.com/quality-of-life/in/Perth
  7. Hi guys, If you guys had already submitted a citizenship application (with no conduct offences), would you disclose a subsequent parking / traffic fine to the department (which attracts no demerit points) just to be on the safe side in terms of transparency? Thanks
  8. Thanks Rammygirl, it would be a very nice surprise if the citizenship was approved or if I even have the test prior to 31 May, I will be amazed if it is, but then again my application is pretty straight forward. Good luck with your application !
  9. Hi there, I was issued a 190 (Permanent Residency) visa in July 2013. I think this visa needs to be renewed every 5 years. Arrived in Oz in November 2013. Submitted Citizenship application in January 2018. Flying to the UK for a holiday on 31 May and return to Oz mid June 2018. Don't plan on going overseas again this year and until I have the Oz Passport. Any need to apply for any sort of bridging visa in the interim to cover my holiday to the UK in May / June ? Thanks helpful peeps.
  10. I'm an idiot! I had written down on a piece of paper all the times I left Australia to fly back to see the family in the UK during my four years I have been a permanent resident in Oz (each occasion was only about 3 weeks a year - so about 3 months in total over 4 years). Then I stupidly omitted to include this information in my application (for some reason in my head I thought I already had). It obviously should have been included in the section - counties resided / visited since age 18. I submitted my application last week, and then realised today when I went through a copy of the application that I've omitted this important information. I'm now a bit concerned that I have submitted an application and made declarations about not submitting false information - could my application potentially be rejected on this basis? There is no way it can be amended online and there does not appear to be any email address for me to contact them with this information. Any ideas please how I can inform the department of my mistake and provide them with this information? Thanks.
  11. Hey guys, thanks for the replies, I admit I was being a bit of a drama queen, although it really hurt (8/10 pain level) and my neck is still a bit tender. Really annoyed actually with people, clearly the intention was to hit my head area and do damage. I may log an online report with the police just so it is on record. Cheers
  12. Hi guys Was just walking up the road to the local IGA when I felt a massive thud in the side of my neck from nowhere and next thing I hear is laughing from a couple of cars that have passed me (it is dark so didn't get number plates). I looked down and saw an orange had been thrown at me. My neck is pretty red and I am sure it will bruise a bit. I feel a bit light headed probably from the shock of it. If I don't get a headache or anything like that can I assume that I'm probably ok and no need to go to the docs to do any blood tests etc. I just worry about the dangers of being hit in the side of the neck with a hard and fast object. Feeling a bit annoyed right now, was having a good evening up until that point. Thanks
  13. Why not just apply for PR? Must be very easy for nurses to get skilled independent or state sponsored visas....
  14. Hi guys, I am on a very mediocre salary in London (30k), but, believe it or not, manage to get by on that living in shared accommodation in central London. I would say my standard of living is ok, not great, but not too shabby either. I potentially may be offered a job in Perth for 80k. I appreciate this is also a very mediocre salary, in Australian terms, and as far as standard of living is concerned, equivalent to a 30k salary in the UK. I therefore would be potentially trading like-for-like. I am able to get by and live a comfortable life in London on 30K, but wonder if I would actually be worse off in Perth on 80K as a single person? I would be happy to live in a shared flat in Perth and am not a big drinker, so would hopefully be able to keep my outgoings to a minimum! I am hoping the role will lead to bigger and better things which is why I am considering making the move, but am petrified about the cost of living in the most expensive city in the Southern Hemisphere, and hence would welcome some opinions from some of Perth peeps. Thanks.
  15. The one thing you have to be careful of is going to Australia for one to two years, not progressing your career out there, and returning to the UK around 28/29 with your career no further forward, and possibly backwards, while your peers have continued to climb the corporate ladder. Now is probably not the best time either to give up your job and go to a country where there is not a lot of work around at the moment.
  16. Actually now you mention it, it does have a reputation for having a lot of crime as your example acutely underlines  Perhaps I will give Nottingham a miss....:nah:
  17. What is Nottingham like? Have never really heard anything good or bad....
  18. Britsol is a great city, I have seriously never met anyone who doesn't like the place....
  19. Haha, lol, I did the Great North Run there a few years ago and the race ends at South Shields: the views across the beach were soooo pretty.
  20. I thought Newcastle was going to be a dump for some reason, but really liked it, a good mix of modern and old and in parts a very handsome city
  21. I have still not been to Cardiff, Belfast, Liverpool, Leeds, Manchester or Glasgow... There are other cities in the UK I have not yet been to, but these are the ones I really want to see....
  22. We are really spoilt with our capital city, so most cities are going to fall short when comparing them next to London.
