  1. Thanks for your reply, did they contact you. Or did you just not hear anything until you was accepted
  2. Can anyone who has been through this process over the last 12 months help. once you received your acknowledgement letter from WA via skill select to confirm they had received your application; how long did it take to complete? or for WA to make contact? thanks for any replies
  3. not to sure, i would probably just put Electircal engineering technician, if I was you. Have you done an approved apprenticeship, as you will have to check electrical engineering technician training requirments, may require an apprenticeship. If you have a degree, and enough experience you could apply as a electrical engineer with engineers australia. When I sent my application, I applied as a fitter (general), as opposed to a mechanical maintenance engineer, which has been my offical title right back from my apprenticeship. Whilst filling my application I reffered to myself as a fitter (maintenance), but I did this because when you look up your job description using your ANZSCO code. You get alternative names for the position, and mine mentioned maintenance then. I emailed TRA, and they wouldnt help me select the correct one, and I didnt find any agents that could help either. even when I sent my skills assessment off, I was worrying if I had applied for the correct title. I just told myself, the worst that can happen you lose £200, and a month of the process. It's not the end of the world, and its cheaper than going through an agent.
  4. thanx, i know I cant tell you how excited I am.
  5. just check with the description on engineers australia website, but im pretty sure all there qualifications required a degree. I was obviously only looking at the mechanical side of things. They did accept lower than a degree for one position not related to me (engineering drafts person). It may be different electrically. I just had a quick look at the SOL list, and maybe one of these will apply to you; Electrician (General) 341111 TRA Electrician (Special Class) 341112 TRA You will have look at the ANZSCO job description, and compare it to the modules you covered on your apprenticeship, to prove you meet the australian standard for one of these positions. regards Leigh
  6. its not a problem, you will be an expert by the time you have finsihed you application... The ANZSCO code: 233311 just follow the link below http://www.immi.gov.au/asri/occupations/e/electrical-engineer.htm regards
  7. sineadallen i was looking at this yesterday myself, and from what I can see. Once you have an invitation to apply, your EOI is suspended until you either accept or decline. You have to apply for state sponsorship direct to the state you wish to live in.
  8. Hi there In England I’m a mechanical maintenance engineer (HNC), just completing my degree now. When I looked at mechanical engineer, industrial engineer or plant engineer as I thought my position would suit either of these. I needed a degree and 3 years post experience. (so I panicked) then there was another option, I was able to apply as a fitter due to me completing a NVQ level 3 in maintenance engineering/apprenticeship. not sure if my experience helps you much, but when you apply to TRA you must show you have relevant experience and training as the Australian equivalent course to the occupation you are applying for. To check this look at the ANZSCO code and they will give you a job description on website. I also compared my NVQ Level 3 to the ones Australia colleges were offering. If I remember rightly my NVQ level 3, is the same as AQF level IV, but the job description was pretty much the same. regards
  9. Hi there, i applied for state sponsorship for WA yesterday. How long did your state sponsorship take to come through regards
  10. Hi leon ive just been through this process. I sent mine off on 5th march. I received an acknowledgement letter around 10 days after posting. This was just to confirm they had got my application, and were working through it. Ive not heard of any cut off date, but I received my positive assessment back yesterday. So maybe yours will also arrive in the next week or so.
  11. to find out more information you need to look on skill select website, and find which visa suits your situation best. you would also need to look into the skill assessment side of things, start by finding the code long side your trade on the SOL list i.e TRA, Vetasses.... once the skill assessment is rolling; you will more than likely have to sit a IELTS test, this is best to start straight away, just in case a resit will be needed... the best agent I heard of was go matilda, but I have gone through the process without one. be careful when selecting your trade, make sure you look at the ANZSCO discription of your trade. In england I work as a maintenance engineer, so I thought my skill should have been mechanical engineer, industrial engineer or plant engineer, but in fact Ive ended up being assessed as a fitter (general), as you needed a degree for the others. give us a shout if I can help any other way..
  12. you will have to put your problem about skills assessment....
  13. I copied everything as within the the guidlines it states to send only certified copies, no originals. As you will need to have a solicitor to sign the stat dec's for you. You may as well have them sign all the docs, it cost me around £40 for the lot (100 pages Approx). I sent P60's for each employment year, except one where I had lost it. So for that year I suppied three pay slips, spread out over that tax year. If you follow the guidlines you'll be fine, i'm sure, Good luck....
  14. Kirsty I have put a link at the beginning of the thread, this should take you to the TRA guidelines booklet. In there you will find the section you need. Afraid I havnt heard back yet, but I'm hoping its any day soon Leigh
  15. If you follow this link: http://www.innovation.gov.au/Skills/SkillsAssessment/Documents/MigrationSkillsGuidelines.pdf this takes you through to the guidance notes for Migration skills assessment with TRA. On page-23. 2.8.6 EMPLOYMENT AS AN EMPLOYEE this is the employer part, and all I did was copy and paste each heading as shown below; a) the name of the business b) the nature of the business (for example, construction company, hotel) c) a description/overview of business and the services/products provided by the business d) the address of business where you worked e) when you worked there, that is start date and end date of your employment I then answered each section/heading directly. For the apprenticeship section: I followed a similar strategy, by asking my training officer who supervised my visits at work to directly answer all the heading/sections list in the apprenticeship part of the guidance notes. Along with this I wrote an apprentice state explaining each year of my apprenticeship: ensuring to cover the equivalent job description as stated in Australia (ANZCO I think), while also explaining the academic side as much as possible with transcripts. Furthermore I included a cover letter from my HR department, to cover the proof of payment while carrying out my apprenticeship. accompanied with P60's I also wrote a personal statement which you need to support Part 8 in application form, where I covered three carefully selected jobs that would show I meet the requirements: again as stated in Australia (ANZCO). I’m not sure if I have done things completely right yet as I’m still waiting to hear back, so just take what I'm saying with pinch of salt..... one more thing if you write a stat dec, make sure you follow the correct procedure. My solicitor gave me a templete; as there is a quote you have to input at the end which you must swear to in front of them.
  16. Hi can anyone please tell me how long any of you have been waiting to hear from TRA. or how long did the process take from sending it off to hearing back from them. cheers
  17. I have just sent mine off, so I can't say if mine is ok or not yet. What I did was copied and pasted exactly what is state in the guide booklet into word. i then used each section from booklet; made that an heading, and directly aanswered each one... I completed the employer one myself, and emailed it to my supervisor to alter and complete/sign.
  18. Brilliant, thanks for your reply
  19. Hi can anyone please tell me how you put you application timeline into your footer Thanks
  20. Thanks for your replies Im applying as a fitter (general), do you know if this trade would allow me to count my 4 year apprenticeship or at least part
  21. Can someone please clear this up for me.. to apply with TRA to have my skills assessed, I need to have "x" amount of years experience after the completion of any training i.e apprenticeship. This part is fine as i have around 7 years post training experience. When i lodge my EOI does my apprenticeship count as work experience? As if my apprenticeship counts, then I can gain an extra 5 points easier. Thanks for any reply of help
  22. thanks for your reply, this is great info... sorry I'm an engineer, but I am having to be assessed as a trade; Fitter(general). As I believe for engineers australia you require a degree with a few years post degree experience. I orignally wanted to apply to EA as a plant engineer... I completed a recognised apprenticeship as a maintenance engineer (fitter), so I'm having to be assessed with my ONC/HNC through TRA. I am going to apply for state sponsorship as you gain extra points as I will need them with the new points system ,and all my family live in WA. Also I believe the processing time with the 190 visa is quicker.. Do you know, or anybody else. if apprenticeships count towards your experience, when applying for the visa to gain points.
  23. Hi everyone, I am just about ready to send all my document off to have my skills assessed as an engineer. So I am now starting to look at the next stage; of applying for the actual 190 visa, once the skills assessment comes back. Can some just run through the steps, and the documents needed to upload. Whats confusing me is Ive seen some people on this website, that have been told that they need to supply employment history, payslips from CO. I have had to do this for the skill assessment, why havnt they? Do I need a double certified copy of all documents that I am sending to TRA, then I can also upload them onto skill select when the time comes. thanks for reading, and your help
  24. Hi thanks for your replys, I have emailed TRA to see what they say, but I haven't had a reply yet. I think I will just give an emplaination letter, unless anyone else have any other suggestions... cheers
  25. Can some please help!! I know I need to supply employment statements when getting my skills assessed by TRA, but do you need to supply statements for all employment history? I served an apprenticeship in maintenance engineering: during this period I worked at company A for 5 years. I then left this company, and worked at two other compaies over the following year, before returning to company A. I have now been back at company A for a further 5 years. does anyone know if I can just have my employer write a statement covering both the first 5 years and the second 5 years, and this would be acceptable for the employment statements or would I also need to mention the missing 12 months. as I think it would be difficult getting references that cover the full points, when I only worked at both companies for 6 months each. do you guys think I should just right a decleration statement covering this period? thanks ozpom82
