  1. Thanks for all your support...we finally got our case officer this morning!! 6 weeks and 1 day since lodging!! Think our agent will be well and truly pleased to get us off her books!!
  2. My wife has been in touch with her today to ask for an update and again the password, explaining that it would stop her from mythering. What a shocker of a response we've had..we were told if she gave us the password we would have to carry on with the rest of our visa app ourselves and she would resign from being our agent!! My wife asked why and was told that this was protocol. My o/h then sent an email apologising for asking-i then spoke to our agent and was told that even by having a password we wouldnt be able to see anything different to what she see's and she understands how stressful it is to go through this whole process. I do feel bad for getting on her case. Fingers crossed we hear something soon....
  3. Hi We lodged our 190 on the 13/08 (6 weeks tomorrow) and still not heard anything...sooo frustrating as our agent is reluctant to check "there is no updates" we are being told and cannot have a password to check ourselves....hate this waiting and not knowing!!
  4. I take it by the lack of response that no-ones recieved SS yet!!!!
  5. Just wondered if anyone had heard anything regarding SS (for WA) since the new changes on July 01....We only submitted ours a week ago but i havent seen or heard of anyone saying they had recieved SS.......Hope its not going to take months!!!!
  6. We have just lodged our EOI and wasn't aware there was a test!!! Could you explain a little?? I have sat the IELTS test 6 times before i got all 9's and now to learn this...arrgghhhh
  7. Thank you for putting your point of view across and im sure there are few people that would agree with you...however, i find it rather odd how they dont give feedback on how you are marked, how two totally different papers can be marked with the same score..the paper i asked to be remarked was far superior to the second (writing!) paper i submitted and they were both marked the same..i had tuition from an IELTS examiner who agreed it didnt seem right and she suggested the remark.Over on PP there is a thread regarding remarking...trading standards are about to get quite a bombardment!!! Its not that i havent put any effort in its just the sheer frustration of these IELTS and how no answers can be given!! I agree that Countries should have some form of testing system in place regarding communication and suitability for work...i am a floorfinisher that gained all 9's and a 7.5 in writing so i wouldnt say that my level of English is poor but im not going to Perth to teach English!! Anyway thank for your positivity!!!!
  8. Just got my appeal back and guess what ? no change ,took 8 weeks and another £60 down the drain . Just one big money making corrupt SCAM !!!
  9. I am also waiting for a re-mark , I need all 8s for a 190 visa and scored L9,R9,W7.5,S9 .I am convinced this exam is corrupt , why else do they not give feedback, publish results etc ? Just a money making scam that needs investigating !!
  10. Hi Chris I need band 8's for the extra mark!! im on the verge of giving up as its so deflating..wouldnt be as bad if i knew where i was going wrong!! We can go on a 489 visa but read too many stories on here and find that its too restrictive with my job(having to live and work in a specific area for 2 yrs) Think perhaps the dream may be over...
  11. I asked for a remark on my feb IELTS ( which i got band 9's apart from writing 7.5!) and im still awaiting the results.I need all 8's for a 190 visa..i have just re-sat another and had my March results yesterday...can u believe exactly the same marks!! im clearly making the same mistake in the writing.I think it would be beneficial though as part of the exam that they would point out where you are going wrong.ie..punctuation,spelling etc so all i can deduct from the fact they dont is that its one big scam!! Good luck anyway!
  12. As someone else that works on the tools , i dont buy into this BS that things are picking up. I am a commercial floorlayer (Schools,Hospitals,Colleges etc) and the rates we are getting now are 10+yrs old . Whenever these parasites have been in government they have always gone after the working class i.e building trade, nurses ,factory workers etc whilst lining the pockets of their own !!
  13. The overall score is irelevant , you have to score the required mark in all 4 modules . I have sat it 4 times now ( General) and keep missing out by 1/2 a point on the writing , I believe it should be done on the overall mark as some people might be stronger in one section than the others . Another money making scam !!!
  14. I agree Jupiter!! Our migration officer told us not to keep looking that it wasnt valid any more which worried me as it shows personal details..but lo and behold our outcome on there said succesful and two weeks later our officer told us we were right and it was succesful...
  15. Hi Hubby is resitting the IELTS again(may need a bank loan soon!!haha) we need 8's and he got all 9's apart from the writing(7.5) so he has sent off for a remark and has also re-applied to sit it again. We had his TRA back a fortnight ago which was succesful so we are feeling both posotive and negative at the moment (and getting sick and tired of colleagues and family asking if we have our visa yet!!! they must think its handed to you on a platter!!) I think we could have moved forward before now with the 489 but we just cant put the family(3 children) through the move and perhaps struggle financially. We are planning on renting our home out so are going on our savings alone. How far are you in the process?? Will your husband be able to find work out there on a 489?? Does anyone have any idea at the timescales from applying for 190 ss to actual visa?? might be able to stop the mums from school mythering me then..hahaha
  16. Hi its Lindsay (the wife!!) we were originally looking at a 489 visa in WA but the postcode restrictions regarding my husbands work didnt match up at all. There were no flooring companies in any of the areas.we mentioned this to our agent and she said as long as he works in that area for the nominated time then it doesnt matter!!! I really think that defeats the object as he wants to go over to lay floors and not work in a supermarket etc!!!! This option may work for some but in our case it wont keep a roof over our heads for a year so we are trying for the 190 visa!! good luck!!
  17. Paid £60 to have my IELTS result re-marked got L9,R9,W7.5,S9 ,needed all 8s for 190 visa +booked another test (£130) covering all bases . We will get there !!
  18. I am in same boat got my result today & scored L9,R9,W7.5,S9 needed all 8s have now sat this pointless exam 4 times ,& to be honest dont know if I can go through with it again . I scored 7.5 in my writing on my 2nd exam & I know that was nowhere near as good as my last attempt,so am struggling to get my head around it . I am considering appealing the mark, but is this just another way of IELTS fleecing you for more £s ? I have read that in most cases the score will not be changed as it would result in a restructuring of the exam & examiners are more likely to support their colleauges than overturn their mark . I.E.L.T.S destroying dreams & fleecing you in the process!!!
  19. Thanks will ring the TRA first thing in the morning!!..the more we ring our agent the more i think we are gonna be pushed to the bottom of the pile!!....seem to find out more on here than our agency has ever disclosed!! wonder if thats because theyve had our money now?? Anyway good luck everyone else with the TRA..hopefully we'll hear something soon!!
  20. im not sure!! if anyone has any info regarding obtaining a letter through the portal that would be great. Its just really frustrating that its said "succesful" for over a fortnight and we still havent heard anything on paper!!!
  21. i still havent recevied a letter from the TRA stating "successful" as the portal said(23/01)...keep checking with my agent and she's said should take 30 days to get back to us before we can start the next stage of the process!! Really beginning to wish we hadnt bothered with them,i think by now my wife's become a bit of an expert !!
  22. Just reading the above statement and couldnt agree more.Im self employed and because i sub contract we sent out all my documentation from my accountant and a headed letter from him which obviously sufficed as we just passed the TRA 23/01!!
  23. Hi I resat my IELTS for the fourth time on sat (have missed out by 0.5 twice now!!!) and fingers crossed ive managed to get all 8's.I agree with every one else who's commented that preperation is key.The first time i did it i was fairly confident i'd pass as im a native Englishman...how wrong was i ?? i got 6.5,6.5,7 and 8.Since then i have studied using online examples and more frequently enlisted an IELTS tutor( a previous examiner!!). It is hard if your not used to studying (im a floorlayer by trade and havent studied since leaving school!!) but tell him to keep going and not give up...it'll be worth it in the end.
  24. Just sat mine again today after missing the 8 on my writing(got a 7.5) and 9 in everything else!! It's a pain to keep going but needs must!! Good luck !!
  25. We have come to the conclusion that our agent isnt a very good one..we have since spoken to friends in Perth who have said they checked the portal too and the outcome was as it said on the portal. Since speaking to her today she has said ignore the portal and wait for your letter and whatever the outcome is we'll take it from there..followed by dont get too over excited as that portal shouldnt even be open according to the TRA .........seriously..how can i not be excited!! its the start of our new life! We have had more help and info since we joined here a few weeks ago than any help an agent can give..
