    Help!

Hey me and my mate are heading over to Oz on a WH in a couple of weeks. We are with commonwealth but just found out that you can't do commonwealth banking without your card so was wondering if there are any banks that you can see your account without having your card yet? Don't feel comfortable sending a heck of a lot of money over and not being able to physically see that it is there. Thanks in advance!
  7. Hi everyone! So I leave for Australia in a couple of weeks on a working holiday but my circumstances are a bit different. I am an australian citizen because my dad was born there so I am travelling on my Oz passport instead of a WHV. So I was wondering if this affects my ability to use medicare? When I looked online it says you need your passport and a valid visa so any help would be appreciated! Thank you!
  8. Def wouldn't use travellers cheques, I took them last time and everywhere charges you to change them
  9. Hey, I go to Oz in sept also! Where abouts are you heading first? Not sure about what clothes to take but me and my mate are taking a suitcase Think you only need to take like enough clothes for max 2 weeks though, so its gonna be hard! haha Nic x

Can't help on the bank issue as i'm looking into that myself but I got my insurance at holiday safe and it was the best price around that I could find
  11. Not that I know of, I just want to get it out of the way as soon as possible and like I said its rainy up north so would prefer to do it either in NSW or Vic
  12. Hey I arrive in Melbourne on the 20th of September!
  13. Hey so i'm off to Oz in September too and i'm starting in Melbourne. September is like spring/summertime so In NSW and Victoria etc its getting hotter but up north it is the rainy season as its a bit more of a tropical climate. Im hoping to do my farmwork in Jan but will be looking to do it somewhere in NSW. Hope this helps
  14. hi! i'm going to Melbourne in September with a friend but to be honest from what I hear we are the minority haha. Most people head out there on there own so there is nothing to worry about. Im planning on taking about the same amount of money as you and am booking the first 10 days for when we get there. Got 2 weeks at Christmas booked up in Sydney too as its expensive and very busy time. We're going with singapore airlines, who are meant to be excellent and it was a brill price. However, I have flown with Qantas and Emerates before and the were both excellent. Eh, at that time of year ur better starting in either NSW or further south as its the rainy season up north and it will just be coming into summer down south. Anything else I can help u with let me know
  15. yeah but they def don't cover for a one way flight. thanks for the reply though
  16. Trying to find travel insurance for us is driving me nuts! I'm really struggling to find a company that will cover us for one way travel and will allow for extending the cover if we choose to stay out there. So if anyone has any advice on which companies are best to go with that would be great!
  17. I flew with Virgin premium economy a few years ago and having long legs myself I found it to be much more comfortable. My flight was only 7 hours long so I can imagine the difference being fantastic for a flight as long as yours! Have a great time when it comes round!
  18. Hi, I have to say that I was in the same boat as you are now a couple of years ago. I really didn't enjoy uni at all but I decided to stick it out and I got my degree in June last year. Now i'm working full time to save for heading over on a working holiday in september and I can't wait. You need to have about $5000 AUD in the bank. I was advised to stick it out at uni by people who took gap years and said that they found it very difficult to get back into the swing of studying. Having said that if your course is not something that you are enjoying at all or you have changed your mind about what you want to do with your life then perhaps staying at uni isn't the best thing for you. If you need any advice i'm happy to help!
  19. aye its good to know people to meet up with over there before you go, think i'd be terrified if i was going by myself!
