Hey Guys, i am not sure, if its already replied before. But from the comments, am i right in assuming that buying a used car from "dealer" is a better option than going in for used cars from private sellers?

Hi Folks, We received our Grant in Aug 2013. and Are planning to move by Mar 2014. I had some questions, hope you can answer. 1. What do you forsee as the right amount of AUD required for 3 months for a family of 3 in ACT without a Job. (Myself, my mom(not dependent, coming on Visit Visa) and a kid (4 years). (If we live frugally.) 2. I have been searching for accomodations, but nothing seems to be getting finalized. Could it be due to the fact that i am searching 3 months in advance (Moving Mar)? 3. What would be right time to look for accomodations?

Hi All, So from what i have gathered from above is the following: -> Getting jobs, even part time or casual jobs, is difficult between Nov to Jan -> move between jan to mar. Any suggestions about making a move with a Kid and an independent Mom (who would be coming on a visit visa)? Would it be easy..difficult..manageable?? I plan on taking my mom along with me, as then she can be with my Kid while i go out to look for jobs!

I heard that the once you migrate, you need to contact the migration officers in ACT. They keep a check by contacting you periodically to know if you got a job relevant to the skill that you applied for when you lodged the 190 Visa. After a certain time period, if you dont get offers in ACT but are getting offers from other states like Melb or Syd, then they would ask you to try out the job market in other states. i believe that their decision is dependent on your occupation and the time frame that you have been in ACT looking for the appropriate job. Note: I am talking in terms of folks who have gone through the 190 PR Visa Route.

Hi we just got our Visa grant and are planning to make our move in Feb. I wanted some information. 1. What exactly does an "Application Pack" contain and to whom would we provide that pack? 2. I have an indian driving license, do you know if i can use it in Canberra? 3. When you say permanent address, i am assuming the address to be in Canberra, right? 4. Does anyone have a list of essential things to do (that can be done offshore) before we move to Canberra? Appreciate anyone's response to the above.

Dont worry, hang in there. You will surely receive it. do you know the reason for the delay? I Got my PR Visa Granted on 12 Aug 2013. I was thrilled and ecstatic when i saw the mail for a day. Now the apprehension is starting to set in, as all i know right now, is that its going to be a major change to me, my 3yr kid and husband and the job prospect is not good.

Thank you, this is good information as i was always that a CPV or Aged Parents Visa would take a long time. So as i understand, in order for my parents to get the Visa, i need to be in Australia. is there any time frame (regarding being onshore) before i apply for my parents. Can i apply a Visitor visa for my parents before i make my first entry to Australia?

Thanks, i believe that on a visitor visa,the duration is less, approx. 1 month? Regarding the 2nd option, wouldnt i have to pay a bond to the goverment? Thank you all for the information. I will check up on the links provided.

hi all, i had a question. [its probably already mentioned in the post before, but there are so many post. ] I have applied for PR Visa to ACT. i have been assigned a CO and are in the last but one, final leg of this journey. the PR Visa was applied for My husband, myself and my kid. I want to take my mom with me too. She is not dependent on me, as my dad is working in a different country. Yes, she can stay with him however, i would like her to be with me until my dad can migrate to Aus too. Questions: What are the options for taking my mom along with me when i make the move to Aus? Would i have to wait a minimum period of time before she can come with me?

x33h - it took me a months time after i applied for ACT SS. ACT Apld - 26/04/13|ACT CO Asgnd-23/05/13|ACT +ve-27/05/13|. I have now lodged the VISA application on 21 june and am waiting for a CO to be assigned. I understand that it takes at least 30 to 45 days to get one assigned and then you have the rounds of sending the required documents to CO. so i guess, it would take 30 to 60 to gets the VISA results from DIAC. (Anyone want to challenge my statement?)

i am not sure about Queensland. But i tried for Canberra and i got 5 additional points for going through a state sponsorhip. sorry i am not of much help. Maybe someone who has applied for Queensland SS can answer?

Hi Ishaan, Dont worry, i am sure its just a formality. By the way, has your family gone through the Medicals? My husband is a chain smoker, will that cause any issues in the medicals report? Have you got your PCC done yet? I am from bangalore, do you know if we need the PCC from every place we have stayed in india?

I have a similar issue regarding credit card limit. is there an alternative method to pay for visa? i need to wait until i get the credit card issue is sorted and thats a damper on my spirits.

Hi, Same here. I too am awaiting the results. (A case officer got assigned to me on 23 May 2013 too.) The case officer could not open some attachment and i resent them on 24 May. In the mail, it states that the assessment commenced on 23 May 2013. Do you know if it means it would take another 30 days? Regards, tht
