  1. My partner and I are about to apply for a partner visa. She is currently on a bridging visa a due to appealing a visa decline decision last year. Are we ok to apply for the visa and should we put much text in the to Substantive Visa question?
  2. As long as he never served more than a year in prison there "shouldn't" be anything to worry about. Just get a uk police clearance and they may ask you to do a form 80. Just be honest. Ive got a couple convictions on my uk record from 10 years ago and had no problems with 457 or PR
  3. Yes one from cpc and one from the uk should be fine.
  4. ID (drivers license/passport) and 2 references where the main ones. CPC will give you a reference once your ready. Or they can take on the rental for you for 6 months or so, which may be easier. When you do go for a house make sure you go over the rental condition report with a very fine tooth comb and get it updated with any and every defect in the house! As when you leave they will try to charge you for every little scratch and stain and make you pay to leave...!!!
  5. Hey, an ex CPC employee here.. I worked for CPC for 2 and a bit years and for the most part had a pretty good time with them. Work is very up and down, some weeks you'll work 7 14 hour days and then next week be lucky to get 12 hours in. The work is mining so its dusty, dirty shitty work, with long days and long periods away from home. As for Kalgoorlie I didn't mind my time there, got a bit boring on extended periods off work. Theres plenty to do for families and night life if pretty good. Real estate agents are a@#holes. Shopping is expensive and half the food has gone off when you buy it. You'll enjoy your first summer there when it gets to 46c!! Get a house with a pool...And winter, as it is now, is cold or bloody cold once you've got used to the heat of summer. Feel free to pm me for anything

  9. Any document you submit for assessment has to be certified as a true copy. When I done my skills assessment I had 176 pages certified! I submitted all my P60's, P45's, employer references/letters, letter of job offer, employment contract etc Something I should have done was scan these certified copies as I needed most of them again for my PR application...
  10. Nicolac sorry they transferred to a 186 visa employer sponsored..
  11. Several people from my company have recently switched from 457's to 187's and have all left the company. The employer said once you've got you can leave if you want. I spoke to a agent and they said that the 2 year with same employer is a guide line and the visa cannot be cancelled if you decide to leave.
  12. Hi, When I done mine in November I had to provide the following: Birth Certificate Passports My Qualifications (Trade) Proof of Health Insurance Offer Of Employment Nomination Approval Email Police Clearance Certificate I had all this scanned and ready to go, once I applied I uploaded everything with the application and it was approved in 3 days. Think it cost around $280. Steve

  15. Hi all, I'm arriving in Perth the end of next month to start work on a 457 visa. But am a little confused as to what I'm allowed to bring with me and not pay import tax. I'm looking to bring 2 suitcases with clothes to get me by for 3 months till my shipping crate arrives, Ill also have a bicycle with me in another case and in my hand luggage Ill have a laptop, iPad, phone and dslr camera. Will customs get funny if I have all that with me? And will I have to pay any import tax on the items? Thanks Steve
