  1. Aslong as you're a permanent resident or citizen you should have no problem sponsoring.
  2. Hey, I did the whole shebang myself and did not receive any professional help. I was going to appoint a migration agent at one stage but decided to do it myself. As for the question with DIAC and compassionate circumstances mine was genuine. I have recently suffered a marriage breakdown as well as domestic violence acted upon me. To finish it off she won't allow me to see my daughter until it goes to mediation, and my grandma died last month and also I am/was suffering psychological stress from moving being kept in suspense visa wise. Everything was all above board, but just remember guys if you apply for compassionate & compelling circumstances be prepared to have evidence upfront should DIAC request it and remember to keep in touch with them
  3. In Feb this year immi granted me my 820 partner visa. Me and my wife split up in April. I rang immi and told them all the details. In May I had a call from immi requesting Aus police check and my daughters birth certificate. I then posted it to them on 18th June including a letter why we had split up. On Monday 24th June I received a letter stating they have granted me a 801 partner visa and I am now a permanent resident. I also told them I was suffering from migration and seeing a psychiatrist over this and over the marriage break down. My nan sadly passed away in June so I included that in the letter as well as a psychologist letter and I asked to be considered under compassionate and compelling circumstances. So all in all its taken 10 months to go from a bridging visa to a 820 temporary to a 801 pr visa. Very very happy and it is honestly one of the best feelings. I cannot stop checking my vevo entitlement page (sad I know LOL)
  4. Hi, I came here over three months ago on a tourist visa and when I applied for my 820 partner visa I got a bridging visa and applied for work rights to be removed. I applied for my tax file number. Will I be charged as a resident or a foreign resident deducting - 32.5c of each dollar earned?
  5. Hi there, I am currently on a working visa that expires today. When will my bridging visa show on VEVO?
  6. I applied for the 1005 no work right to be removed because of my wife being pregnant. She has suffered from fluid in her ankles and has a relief - casual job which meant she doesn't get a consistency of work. I provided evidence of our bank statement back dated the last 3 months and a copy of the baby scan including a letter from doctor confirming pregnancy.
  7. How much did that cost you? What kind of stuff did you pack?
  8. Me and my wife have clothes in the UK, and I have sentimental stuff. Has anyone used the above company? What are the reviews? I will probably have about 4-5 large cardboard boxes full with light - heavy stuff. A container would be too excessive for me as it is mainly small - little items.
  9. I handed in my partner 820 application on Friday, filled out form 1005 stating why I think my no work right condition should be removed off my bridging visa. Rang DIAC earlier to check everything was OK, they told me that my 1005 form had been accepted and I can work in Australia starting next week. YAY!!!!:biglaugh::em3600:
  10. Hi Everyone just thought I would share my experience with you all. I handed my 820 partner visa in person today in Brisbane after extensively worrying for weeks on end about it. I put 3 stat decs inc 10 pages from me and my wife each, several tons of Facebook screenshots, conversations, emails sent, booking confirmations & receipts in our names, tenancy agreements, marriage certs etc etc identity docs, medical check, UK police check, photos of each other. It was very nerve wracking handing the application in. I went to the reception and was told to come back later and we did and just handed it to a person over the counter. The person didn't really know much about the process which didn't help me at all. Overall my mind has been and still is filled with trepidation. I also applied for work rights on a bridging visa and hopefully that will come through, but I'm not sure as the person put it in my folder with my main 820 application.
  11. Hi, I am handing my 820 Partner visa in person to the immigration office tomorrow. I came over on a ETA visa which is a tourist visa and this does not allow me to work. What do I do about applying for a bridging visa to work?. I understand that once I hand my application in I will be granted a bridging visa with the same rights that I entered Australia on. What do I do about applying for rights to allow me to work? Do I do this tomorrow, or once I receive my receipt number do I go back into the office and apply then? How long does it take? Please can somebody help Thank you:)
  12. Viber works on iPhone, Android and Blackberry.
  13. I will be lodging mine shortly too. The only thing is my fiance / wife on Saturday had a UK bank and cancelled it and don't have statements. Although immi website does not suggest you provide copy of bank statements. It does say proof of sharing finances, and my partner supported us both so technically we don't share finances. I'll be lodging my visa in person in the next couple of weeks at the Brisbane office too
  14. Hi, I'm not sure if it could cause a problem. I stayed in one place and still am, but still not received the bloody AFP check yet!!!
  15. The "best places to live" seems IMO like the most expensive too. Nottingham is certainly not one of the worse thats an absolute utter lie. There is some beautiful places in Nottingham, and Mansfield is near Nottingham and is not a bad place. What about Sheffield, Wakefield, Leeds? Some nice places there, you always get good and bad places in Town's and City's. York is a beautiful place, North Yorkshire - Scarborough, Filey, Flamborough, Ripley, Skipton, Featherstone.
  16. A few weeks ago I posted on here about how homesick I was and the fact that I had left everything in the UK. I received some fantastic advice from lovely people on this forum and thank you for your posts/messages. I have been here for around 2 months nearly now and I can say that the homesickness is starting to go. I do get the odd teary moments once - twice a week but not as bad. I don't really have any fantastic advice I can offer to people about being homesick but all I can say is that it will takes its toll the first few weeks, but just knock it on the chin. Things do become easier and you will slowly be happier, but at this moment in time my heart will always be in the UK. It is a terrible thing being homesick and devastating, and like me you will think have I done the right choice the minute you arrive. The saying goes 'if a job is worth doing, then its worth doing well', so just give it your best shot. I speak to my Dad by texts or calls on this mobile phone application called Viber. Blackberry, Android, iPhone-iPad have Viber in there app stores to download for free. Viber does not cost anything, but it does use your internet allowance. If I am in the house I connect to wifi, or if you have a internet allowance then its fine. You can text, talk, send picture messages free and it works just like a normal phone. Not many people may know about this but that is one way I can communicate with my Dad 24/7. You can have as many people as you want on Viber, but the only downside is that THE other person must also have Viber in order for it to work. Skype works well too and is totally free to see each other on cam, and then again MSN, or emails works totally fine. I hope that this thread will have been somewhat some help to somebody
  17. Hi, Just wanting to know exactly, what should I write on my statutory declaration? And what should my fiancé (wife) getting married next Saturday. What should her family write? I'm not asking what to write, but what should be included?
  18. I applied for mine bang on a month ago, applied via email. Got no reply to acknowledge that they received my application and I emailed them twice. They didn't even take a payment out straight away and not sure if they have still. I got an email from them today stating that my application has been posted to the address on the form, so I would definitely say a month minimum.
  19. Just go where your heart tells you to go, home is where the heart is. You may as well get Australian Citizenship so your children have a choice in future.
