  1. I'm living in Australia with a visa 189. Am I leagally obliged to work in my own field (electrical engineering)? I mean can I change my career anytime and anyhow I wish?
  2. Are they reliable? Are them too expensive? Can you suggest a good one?
  3. Because I think my qualification (recignised by my assessor) has to be at a level which has been mentioned in ANZSCO for my nominated occupation. for example now that I've been recognized as Engineering Technologist, and according to ANZSCO "This occupation has a level of skill commensurate with a Bachelor degree or higher qualification", I cannot get any point for 'Educational Qualification' with associate degree (even if my associate degree has been recognised by Engineers Australia.
  4. Wow, I'm leaving in Iran. Damn it, here's the end of the world.there's no agent here!!!
  5. Even if it's an associate degree? Do you mean my qualification has not to be the same as what is necessary for my nominated occupation?
  6. Last month I received my successful CDR result. I've been recognized as 'Engineering Technologist' and my bachelor degree is comparable to 'AQF Associate Degree'. But here is ANZSCO's description of an 'Engineering Technologist': "This occupation has a level of skill commensurate with a Bachelor degree or higher qualification." And here is DIAC's clause for receiving points for Educational Qualification: "You can receive 10 points for documents that prove you have an award or qualification recognized by the assessing authority in the assessment of the skilled occupation". Can I receive that 10 points for educational qualification? I am concern that what EA has recognized is not what ANZSCO expect for an Engineering Technologist.
  7. I have two qualifications both in electrical engineering. An associate degree (2002) and a bachelor degree (2010). But engineers Australia told me that my associate degree is comparable to AQF IV and my BS is comparable to AQF associate degree. So they they recognised me as technologist rather than professional engineer. Also they told me my work experience is counted from 2010 while in I was employed in 2005 as an electrical technician. Now I've some problems. Since engineers Australia compare my associate degree with AQF III, it's possible for TRA to do such a thing again. In this case they may decide to substitute some of my work experiences for the formal qualification. My second concern is if they do such a thing, can I still receive points from DIAC for educational qualification?
  8. It's been mentioned in ANZSCO for my occupation ( ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING TECHNICIANS) that "In some instances relevant experience and/or on-the-job training may be required in addition to the formal qualification". The assessor of this occupation is TRA. I have two questions: in what instances it is necessary to prove 'on-the-job-training'? How long should be the duration of such an 'on-the-job-training'? How should I prove this period of 'on-the-job-training'? Is my contract in which the title "on-the-job-training" has been explicitly mentioned enough to prove my claim? Thank you for your cooperation.
  9. Why don't you try to get a higher score in IELTS?
  10. First of all I think it's nice to start from myself. I got a diploma qualification from a vocational high school in electrotechnology (1999). After that I went to a technical-vocational institute and after 2 years of study I got another qualification (associate degree) in electrotechnology (2002). Then in 2005 I started to work in the electrical maintenance department of a petrochemical industrial company as an electrical technician. Then in 2010, WITHOUT leaving my work, I got BS degree in Electrical Engineering. Now (2012) I have 7 years of work experience in the same company and still working ... Why I was not successful with Engineers Australia as a professional engineer? Here is their response: "- Your Associate Degree completed August 2002 is comparable to an AQF Certificate 4. - Your BSc (Electrical technology Engineering) is comparable to an AQF Associate Degree. Your combined qualifications are NOT comparable to an Australian Bachelor of Engineering. Consequently, the outcome given was recognition in the Engineering Technologist category, not the Professional Engineer category." Why Engineers Australia think so? email me to know (joseph.marzbani[at]gmail.com) Why I've not sent my docs to TRA? To be honest, I'm full of questions. I don't know how to assemble my work experience evidences. The title of my contract in the first two years of my job was "on-job-training'. But I didn't have a SPECIFIC trainer of something. I'm not sure if it's necessary to mention such title for TRA or not? Which of those pathways suit my circumstances? I never worked as a 'apprentice' or 'trainee'. But I have two formal qualifications. If I have to mention those two years as 'on-job-training', how should I prove it? how should I explain my duties? who must certify that?
  11. I am really tired of searching here and there to find the required information for being assessed as a simple (!) Electrical Engineering Technician (312312). So I decided to create a cozy thread only for we electrical technicians to share our experiences with other colleagues. Please bear in mind that share, share and again share whatever you know as the smallest piece of information may make the life far more easier for someone else. Of course you can ask whatever you wish, but try not to be overload ;-)
  12. I achieved my diploma from a vocational high school in 'Electrotechnology'. After that I achieved an associate degree qualification from a technical-vocational institute in 'Electrical Engineering' (requiring 2 years study and sometimes known as Electrotechnology/Electrotechnicque/Industrial Electricity). After that I started to work as an Electrical Technician (WITHOUT such things as on-job-training, apprenticeship, traineeships ...) Both vocational high school and technical-vocational institute from which I obtained my qualifications are governed by the formal education and training organization in Iran. At present, I have 7 years of full-time paid work experience and my job description conforms fully with what has been mentioned in ANZSCO (312312 ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN). 1- Does TRA pathway E suit my circumstances? If no, why and which pathway can be suitable for me? 2- Do my qualifications confirm with the term 'Formal Training'? 3- What is "Workplace Assessments"? Does this term have any relationship with on-job-training? Thank you for your help.
  13. Thanks gbuss. Can I ask you what was your occupation?
  14. 12. Skill Pathway E (Australian Qualification holders) 12.1. Work experience: Applicants citing Australian Qualification Framework (AQF) qualifications awarded on the basis of acceptable formal training (see clauses 12.4 and 12.5) must also provide evidence of relevant and directly related work experience equalling not less than 900 hours. 12.2. Applicants citing AQF qualifications awarded on the basis of an acceptable workplace assessment (see clause 12.7) must also provide evidence of relevant and directly related work experience equalling not less than 4 years. 12.3. Such work experience must be verifiable work experience under the supervision and direction of a suitably-qualified person (ordinarily a fully-qualified person in the relevant occupation). Which work experience do you think this clause is talking about? That mentioned in 12.1 or that in 12.2? Basically I have a diploma in electrotechnic (industrial electricity) from a vocational high school. Also I have an associate degree in electrical engineering from a vocational institute (2 years). But I've never be under supervision of someone. After achieving associate degree, I started to work as an electrical engineering technician and now I have 7 years of work experience in the same company. Which pathway is suitable for me? A, B, C or D? I'm really worry that non of them is suitable for my circumstances.
  15. I'm gonna apply as an electrical technician and in this link you can see the following items as duties of an electrical technician: Tasks Include: preparing drawings, plans and diagrams of electrical installations and circuitry assisting Electrical Engineers and Engineering Technologists in design and layout of electrical installations and circuitry on substations, switchgear, cabling systems and motor control systems collecting data, performing tests and complex calculations, graphing results, and preparing charts and tabulations estimating materials costs and quantities inspecting designs and finished products for compliance with specifications and regulations assembling, installing, testing, calibrating, modifying and repairing electrical equipment and installations to conform with regulations and safety requirements undertaking electrical workshop functions such as installing assemblies for protection relays, metering and indicating devices assisting with research and experimentation programs I wonder if I have to do all the above tasks to be assessed as an electrical technician? Could you please help me and explain the truth?
  16. Wow! I can see an ocean of misunderstanding here. I really didn't mind to bother anybody. All of us are friends and want to help each other somehow. If you think I was being impolite, I apologise. I'm sorry cgirl. Let me clarify what I really mean. FirstlyI don't expect anybody to upload the whole file. But ANY PART of it can be really helpful to give a good perspective of what TRA expect us. Thing like the list of all documents they have sent, the format of 'letter of employment', which documents didn't need to be certified, or ANYTHING. Secondly, this thread it's not for my personal use only. I meant to start a thread to share knowledge for anyone beside me. Please don't take me wrong. They are many people like me put there who are confused among all these uncertainties. Let's help each other
  17. I achieved diploma in a vocational high school and associate degree in a vocational institute. I have some questions about TRA pathway E: Does pathway E suits my circumstances? Do I need apprenticeship for TRA pathway E? What does "Australian Qualification" mean? Does it have to be a qualification achieved WITHIN Australia? Or I can send them my EQUIVALENT qualification? Is apprenticeship an advantage in pathway E? Thank you.
  18. Thank you for your reply. Anybody can use a scanner or cell phone to do that. I said a successful case! Nobody means to use someone else's papers, I said it's specially useful to give us an idea of a successful case. For me the most unclear thing is how to mention all tools and equipment I used during my studies and career? Do I need a special format? Who must certify/sign/confirm that?
  19. If anybody has a successful TRA assessed result, please upload your file here in this thread so that others can have a more clear idea of this process. It'll be highly useful. If you're worried about privacy issues, you could hide important parts of your file.
  20. I sent my docs to EA to be recognize as Electrical Engineer. But for some reasons the outcome was Engineering Technologist. Now I'm going to send my docs to TRA to be recognized as Electrical Technician. My first question is: Will DIAC refer to EA to inquire about possible records of mine (or candidates in general) even if I apply with TRA assessment results? Basically this is because I've been working for 7 years of which the first 5 years was under the title "Technician" and the last 2 years have been as "Engineer". Also I worked under a kind of "on-job-training" program for the first two years (I was paid and working full-time though). My second question is: Is it possible that DIAC won't recognize my last two years of work experience as relevant just because I've been an Engineer not a Technician? My third question is: it possible that DIAC won't recognize my first two years of work experience as relevant just because I've been working under the title "on-job-training"? Thank you
  21. RA MIGRATION SKILLS ASSESSMENT, APPLICANT GUIDELINES booklet: "You are required to provide the following documents with your application for a valid TRA Migration Skills Assessment: ... evidence of the nature and content of the qualification/award including subjects achieved. The evidence should describe the content of each subject and any machines, tools and equipment used" --------------------------------------------------------- How can I provide such a thing. My academic transcripts contains more that 80 subjects. How is it possible to describe each of them?
  22. First of all this is a brief of my situation: 1999: Diploma (Electrical/Vocational Qualification) 2002: Associate Diploma (Electrical Engineering) 2005: Start working as electrical technician in a company 2010: Bachelor of Science (Electrical Engineering(without leaving my job)) Now I am going to send my documents to TRA to be recognized as Electrical Engineering Technician (312312). My questions are: Does it matter for TRA from which university I have achieved my associate degree? (it does for Engineers Australia) Do I need on-job-training or something like that? Is it helpful to send my BS degree OR it is better to not mention it at all? Thank you
