  1. Thanks Ozmanic for your reply.
  2. Hi Can anyone tell me, if you move to another employer under the same circumstances and salary, can you transfer your existing 457 We have done 2.5 years on our 457 and we have been told that you can move employer, and continue under the same 457 and go straight for PR. Thanks
  3. Hi I lost mine and came back to oz in January, rang the ATO (australian tax office) gave them my date of birth and last address when I was in oz before (which was over 20 years ago) and they gave me the number and posted a copy in the post.
  4. Hi Laguana we are 4 hours west of brisbane, god its all such a worrying time when your children arent happy. I hope you get the help you need for your daughter, I have just rang the high school and explained the situation they are going to try and get her involved in more things, if she knew that I called she would kill me. thank you for the reply
  5. thank you fifi69 for your reply its good to know im not the only one, i will battle on for another while and hopefully its just the highs and lows of migration and that with time it will pass, she is a very strong individual and i have to respect how she feels thanks again
  6. no i dont think so, but i will give the school a call just so they can keep an eye on her. The town we live in is quiet and not a lot to do, hopefully there is a part time job coming up for her, we have steered her in that direction just for more interaction. I just feel so bad inside, I will ride the storm and hopefully you are right, that familiarity will ease the path. thanks for your reply.
  7. Hi we moved here as a family on 5th of January, and my daughter has had a few sad days but we thought they where passing. She has started making friends, but we have noticed a decline in her in the last week or so, she is so sad and stays in her room. Today there have been lots of tears and she told me she was so so unhappy and that i have ruined her life taking her to Australia, and that she really wants to go back to Ireland. She is a very level headed girl and never really complains, so it worries me that she is so so sad. I really want this to work, but there is no going back for us we need to be here at this point in our lives. What would you do in the same situation, if she is so unhappy, should I let her go back to Ireland !! heart wrenching to see her so unhappy.

    ROMA

We are moving to chinchilla in three weeks - in the roma valley and four hours west of Brisbane, my husband has been there since July and says the town has everything we need except decent shops. I have googled earthed it to death and we have secured rental on a fabulous new home. There are a lot of new families moving into the are due to the gas industry. And my husband says the town has lots going on with a great sense of community. The transition will be easier for our family as we currently live on the east coast of Ireland by the sea and rural.
  9. HI Soozy B - We fly out three weeks this thursday - Never ending lists, I think you have everything covered. Husband there since july and hes home next week, just cant wait to get going, it really is some organising to move to the other side of the world - best of luck
  10. Hi all in PIO, We are currently on a 457 visa, and our 20 year old daughter is currently at Uni in Ireland but due to Finish in June 2013 and come out to us in oz. She is currently also on our 457 visa as a dependent. When we apply for PR, which we intend to do after the 2 year period, can she be included in our application or will she be deemed independent by then, she will be 21-22 at that stage.

My shipping has gone, I have just got all my correspondence set up online, and an a-z book with all policy nos, bank info, personal stuff that through time we will forget, and it's much quicker than searching through piles of paperwork

  17. HI Sapphire, thank you for your very valuable info, went online and had a quick check, wow the prices are great, even compared to Ireland, delighted to get this site. I will also remember to order from one click every time. Thanks again
  18. Hi sapphire, that's great, do you order them online or does a family member / friend send them to you
  19. Bloody predictive text, put germ instead of gwen, sorry about that :chatterbox:
  20. hi germ my husband flew from Dublin with emirates, who he said where better than ethihad, he got a free upgrade to business class, as far as Dubai, the cost to upgrade is 300 euro per each leg I.e dub-Dubai 300, Dubai-Singapore 300, and sing-Brisbane 300. Per person so that's an extra 900 on the cost of your flight. I'm flying back with him after Xmas and cannot wait, heading west of Brisbane.
  21. Yes you can ship them, but you must fill in a form which your shipping company will supply before your goods are shipped, this form will be viewed by customs, obviously not massive amounts, I shipped tea bags. Hope this helps
  22. Hi Alice, No I didnt Tip them, but they had a full Irish breakfast at 10am, then Lunch, then dinner at 5pm, They were delighted and said sometimes they dont even get as much as a cup of tea.
  23. hi Michael, welcome to poms in oz, its a great site for gaining all knowledge on oz, I dont know where I would be without it. Anyway as advised I think you should look at a working holiday visa, you can apply for one before your 30, but I think you have to be in oz before your 30th birthday, but you would need to check this. This could be a way of trying to get into a good company and gaining that valuable sponsorship. Best of Luck Michael.
  24. Hi Vixenpops, my removalist arrive tomorrow!!! Think Im fairly organised, but it has taken me nearly 3 months to go through everything in the house and the garage, all the years of stuff that have been built up. Our home seems so drab now, but we have enough furniture to keep us going till we leave. My husband is in Qld and he will be there to receive the container, so the house will be up and running by the time we get there after xmas. I think i have done to much work, they are due to pack and unpack everything, i have removed all the stuff out of the drawers, wardrobes and cupboards, pics of walls ect. but i just wanted to be sure what i wanted to go, and what i wanted to stay. Anyway big glass of red when they are done.
