  1. Thanks for ur reply, it just clarifies and makes things clearer for me :-) My query just about the process and time scales for payment and can only do one bit a a time - I have already got an idea of how much we will need to set up and of course be looking at saving for that too but first things first doing and passing medicals and getting the visa :-) might get rejected - never know until them medicals are passed x Then have a year to sort the exiciting stuff :-)
  2. I would think the only thing that could hold you up now was if any of your medicals got referred - this would be my worse fear after going through all this process; I personally would wait until you know your medicals are satisfactory but as already suggested you could take out insurance if it covers it ?? Good luck :-)
  3. Hello, We are just in the process of saving up enough to pay for our visa's ( 2 adults, 2 children) and medical costs and police checks and trying to put as much aside each month as possible - but I am really itching to put in my EOI. Could someone clarify that if i lodged my EOI say at the end of the month (October) and then got an invitation in say 2 week after - that I then have 60 days to lodge the visa and pay for it? (ie visa cost latest would need to be paid mid January?) If this is the case - then is there a rough time scale after lodging and paying for visa then to get medicals and police checks organised? Or could you wait (and save a little more till case officier is assigned then do the medicals and police checks once requested?) Of course i will be hoping to get everything done and paid sooner and if i am a good girl could hopefully organise things sooner but is a matter of saving as quick as we can with still having a decent standard of living in the meantime especially with Christmas coming up; or we could win the lottery. We have some of the cost of the visa saved up but not all of it yet - any advice, i have very itchy fingers and just want to press the button and gets things moving!! Im sure (well 98%) we would have enough by mid December at least to cover the cost of visa but apprehensive at the same time. Its took a while to get to this stage maybe its just seems to be getting real now arrghh, and nervous about medicals
  4. Child and Family Health Nurse in WA:-)
  5. Hi !, I managed to get my APHRA registration without presenting in person (I'm from UK) they asked me for more documents to prove ID again (certified) and then I got my registration details over internet and was posted my initial registration document. Not sure if it might depend where you live as I certainly didnt really want to fly over from UK for a number that technically could be done over the internet! A massive expense. I then completed a modified skills assessment for ANMAC :-)
  6. Hiya, Sounds like you are a little isolated at the moment; have you had a look at local activities maybe that you could get involved in? Or maybe a little part time job to meet new people? Also if you are starting Uni soon i'm sure you will meet people with a common interest; Not sure how old you are but hope you feeling better soon:-)
  7. Hi sorry for the delay; I'm so pleased you passed; I think the question you got for your speaking test was horrid - but very pleased you got your 8's that you needed! For me now it's a matter of saving up for the visa costs for the family and hopefully passing the medicals - which i'm really anxious about - but we looking hopefully to have saved up enough by Dec/Jan time to put in expression of interest. We are also in process of sorting jobs out on the house so we can let it out, so expecting rather large electrical and central heating engineer bills :-( Whats for you now? Is it time to relax and put your feet up yet?
  8. OMG - I didn't even realise results were out! I thought they were out on the 3rd September! I just had a look and I passed! Overall - 8.5 (listening 8.5; reading 9; writing 8; speaking 9) Woohoo! How did you do?? I met a couple of people on the Ielts day, did I speak with you in the morning before the exam or did I have lunch with you? Hope you did okay??? Let us know x :-) What band did you need??? x
  9. Still recovering from the Ielts assessments at Manchester today, was really surprised how many people were there. I think i might of made a couple of errors in the listening and reading but hopefully won't affect the results too much. The second part of the writing test was difficult to plan out property so think i will lose marks on the structure or flow of the essay - fingers crossed - waiting for 13 days now, I need 7's. Cant believe how anxious I was for the assessments - was absolutely dreading it. Hope I did enough so I don't need to repeat it!
  10. I'm not sure this is entirely accurate - you could do a top up degree in an area of interest such as health visiting, which would then hopefully translate into you having a degree in nursing. I completed diploma course and completed specialist practitioner degree in school health - so maybe a top up may be he answer??
  11. They asked for confirmation dates of my employment for my previous job cause somehow I manged to forget to include them in the reference :-( I did apply for a modified assessment too so that might factor in the timescale s. Although I am none the wiser as the confirmation email of completion doesnt give u any information if you have passed the skills assessment or not and have to wait another 3 week till I get a letter through the post:-/
  12. Hi, just let you know I got a completion email from ANMAC this morning! I have to wait for my letter of determination to come through the post - I'm hoping this will state and confirm how many years experience I can claim for on my PR visa as my email didn't say :-/
  13. Hello, I sent mine off 8 weeks ago - still waiting; hopefully it will be through soon :-)
  14. Oh, I thought there was something else we needed to do, where would I get a self declaration form emailed from, do u think I coild jjst request one in advance of putting EOI in ? Just trying to be organised :-)
  15. Im glad for the clarification , I thought for the 189 visa he would need passport and a letter to prove english, and also to stop the 2nd instalment charge . I will stop worrying now then :-)
  16. Yes he is, I thought about the exam certificates and was informed that it would only provide proof that he sat the exam not that he attended secondary school for 5 years :-( Any other suggestions?
  17. Hello, Currently trying to get proof for my partners English proficiency for 189 visa preparations. Born in UK, English speaking school etc... however his secondary school no longer exists and we have contacted the council and they advise that records are no longer held for his attendance so am struggling to get a letter clarifying that he attended 5 consecutive years and was taught in English!:arghh: Any one has any suggestions.... definitely don't want to pay the 2nd visa installment charge and he should nt need to sit Ielts if he ha this proof - any other suggestions or could he do a statutory declaration or something???? Anyone have a similar experience?
  18. AHPRA was only a year as I was initailly told I have to fly out and present in person to complete the registration and i wasn't ready to fly out; then the rules changes earlier this year so finalised my registration online - otherwise I would have got my registartion in 2013. My modified assessment DOES require professional references as i am applying under community health nurse code not the generic codes. I haven't got to visa stage yet so not sure about the question about references.... It is worth adding up the points you think you have for the visa and checking if you have reached 60 points without the Ilets (I have to do the Ilets later this year, as when i turn 33 i lose 5 points taking me back to 55 points!:-( The quickest and cheapest way appears to be the sponsored visa but we decided against that as we have young children and wouldn't want the panic of an employer saying they didnt need me anymore an ending the sponsorship also hard to be tied to an employer if you don't like it when you get there.
  19. Hi, if you go fo AHPRA first and can prove you have been taught in English at college and Uni then that would be acceptable. Once you had AHPRA registration you could apply for modified skills assessment. You would only need to sit your Ilets if you needed the extra points for your visa score. Hope this helps :-)
  20. Oh that's great! :-) Yipee - just me then lol
  21. Hi, I will be primary applicant for 189 visa later this year and wondering if my husband has to sit the Ilets?? Its mentions on the immi website that there may be a second applicant charge ??? Im not sure what this is for or if we can avoid it by my husband sitting Ilets and scoring over 4.5 - he has UK passports and speak, and schooled in English???? I'm confused if he doensn't have to sit them because he has a uk passport and i wont get a second charge or does he needs to sit it so we don't have to pay the 2nd charge? - advice much appreciated x
  22. Thank you Lorna - do you know if i need to get 8's? - i am 5 points short, i will try to google too :-)
  23. Hi, I emailed AHPRA and was informed i need to post the request to AHPRA which will take at least a week to arrive :-/. Once i have posted this off i will complete the application form for ANMAC, I think i will need to request NMC to send CoGS to ANMAC also but will do this in next week or so. Hopefully all bases would be covered then lol!
  24. Hi, I need to get AHPRA to post a certificate of good standing/registration to ANMAC for my skills assessment - I have found the form however i am wondering if i can apply for this online as this would speed up the process rather than printing out and posting to AHPRA Could anyone advise if I could request this online and pay online, I have tried looking on AHPRA but can only find the form. Thank you in advance :-)
