  1. Have you tried posting on Poms in Adelaide, they might be able to help. Jo
  2. On the Department of immigration and citizenship website under skillselect it gives you all the information on each visa and it says that The 489 visa is valid for four years, and a visa holder must live and work in a specified regional area. Hope that helps.
  3. We submitted our state sponsored 489 visa application for SA on 19 March and are just waiting to be allocated a case officer, it has been 7 weeks. Fingers crossed it won't be too much longer now.
  4. P.s what regional area are you looking at going to ? I.e.what state or is it family sponsored .

  7. Our 489 visa application for south Australia went in on 19 March. Could I please ask do we get assigned a case officer first and then they request medicals and police checks ? If so how long in everyones experience do we now have to wait for the next step ? Any advice, thanks x
  8. Hi mate thanks for the advice, someone on another site mentioned welders needing a ticket and wasnt sure if it was something i didnt know about. Did you apply for jobs before you left the UK or wait until you got to Oz ? If you have any advice on applying for welding jobs, agencies to use. I would really appreciate it. Have you any regrets about making the move ? Enjoy the weather it's freezing in Yorkshire, snow just disappearing !!
  9. Just seeking some advice from any welders. I have NVQ Level 2 and 3 in welding and have had my skills assessed by VETASSES and now have a Certificate III in Engineering -Fabrication Trade (Welding) Could anyone clarify that to get a job as a welder in Australia, possibly south Australia, that you need a ticket. Any help and advice would be appreciated. Thanks

  12. Hi all We initially contacted World Wide Recruitment who did a recruitment post under the job section on here. They provided an email address which we responded to and sent OH CV etc to. We pulled out as the areas my OH was offered was Mackay, Rockhampton & Brisbaine. If this company are not genuine then they now have people's personal details. Very concerned !!
  13. Thanks mate for the reply. After numerous attempts at the IELTS and unfortunately not managing to hit the 7's by 0.5 each time. I have put in an EOI for a 489, which we have been advised against but time is not on our side due to my sons age and educational needs. When are you hoping to go and do you have a job lined up ? Thanks again
  14. Has anyone recently received SA state sponsorship and received an invitation to apply for a visa and if so how long did it take to come through ? Many thanks in advance x

  17. Thanks for everyones help & advice. We did our research and decided on Perth, but a possible job offer could mean changing our plans. I have read that Perth is boring and not alot to do and this concerns me as we have a 14 year old son. I have also heard that the minning industry boon is only expected to last another couple of years affecting jobs, housing etc. We also decided on Adelaide due to locality as it is nearer to Melbourne & Sydney for more things to do for our son. Any further advice would be appreciated I.e schools, areas, etc
  18. Hello Just need everyone's advice on which area to settle in Australia, good and bad ? Big thanks x
  19. The migration agent we are using have been excellant up to now and we have received a first class service. All their costs were given up front before we started the process and again we can pay instalments. No extra charges for email and phone calls. Whats holding everything up is the IELTS test, what a palarva !!!!
  20. We are using an agent and a very good and professional one at that. People on this forum shouldnt be berated for not using one. No one knows their personnel or financial circumstances. They use forums like this to get help and advice from others who are earlier along in the visa process ! I am sure there will be someone along to give some advice to help. Suprised by Go Matilders response !
  21. he likes "Parkour" , rock climbing and things like that.
  22. Hello, thank you. My teenager must be a minority but he's not a fan of football. Advice on anything else will be appreciated ! Him settling in is my main concern ! ! Thanks again Dennic x
  23. Hello All We are hoping to emigrate to Perth early 2013. My 14 year old is only coming to Australia as he doesn't want to stay here without his family (staying has never been an option as I would "never" leave him behind). I have read alot of posts on here saying Perth is "boring" and only suited for old people. Could anyone parents or kids give me things for teenagers to do to convince us that Perth is the right place for us. Big thanks x
