  1. Hi everyone I am sorry if this has been asked before but I have searched and cannot find it. We are planning on applying for ACT state sponsorship. My husband will be the main applicant. I also have a skills assesment completed so we can claim the additional 5 points for Partner Skills? The reason I am confused is that both our occupcations are on the ACT Skilled Occupation list and the Consolidated Sponsored Occupation List (CSOL). However my occupation is "closed" on the ACT list therefore wondering if it means I cannot claim the five points? Thanks
  2. Hi all I am wondering when individual States update their occupation lists? Is it once a year, twice a year, or can it be more often? Having applied and been succesfully granted a skills assessment for my occupation from VETASSESS at the end of June, I was very disappointed to find that my occupation was closed when ACT published their new list as of July (ACT was the only state it was open on prior to July). My husband's occupation is open with them though (Sports Administrator), however I am reluctant to spend another $700 only to find that it is possible that his occupation could be removed at any time. I am hoping that my occupation may reappear at some point next year somewhere (Public Relations Professional) but I imagine it is not likely. Thanks in advance! Emma
  3. I lodged an EOI yesterday online (190 visa). It gave me 5 points automatically for State Sponsorship. Do I now need to apply seperately for State Sponsorship (direct with the State and in addition to the EOI) or is it a case of waiting for waiting for an invite from a State from the EOI? Any help much appreciated!
  4. I have just submitted my EOI for PR Professional. I said I would be willing to be nominated by any state. Does anyone know if this is a good thing or a bad thing? Prior to the EOI only ACT has PR Professional on their nomination list so was not sure if should just put them. I have submitted without an ILTES test as I have 60 points without it. If I don't get selected then maybe I will need to sit it to boost my points!
  5. Does anyone know how the the points awarded for state sponsorship will work after 1st July? Will you only get 5 points if you managed to get state sponsorship previously? I need the 5 points from state sponsorship so can I submit with 55 points without it on the basis that if a state sponsors me I will have enough points? The other option is to do ILETS to get extra points but I would rather not if I don't need to as it will take time. Thanks in advance!
  6. My Vetasess application just got returned positive in 7 weeks!
  7. We will be in Canberra between 20th-23rd December (two adults and a 3 year old). Can anyone recommend any nice accommodation - ideally quite central and with an outdoor pool. Thanks in advance!
  8. I have seen everyone's comments here about state sponsorship closing. Does anyone know when ACT sponsorship normally closes? Thanks in advance.
  9. Hi everyone. I was wondering if someone can tell me if VETASSESS accept P60s as evidence of paid employment to support an emplotment reference? They are asking for payslips, group certification for taxation, or taxation records of assessment. Does anyone know if P60s are included in this? Thanks Emma
  10. Hi all. I am sorry if this has been covered elsewhere on the forum but I have searched and cannot find it. After a great deal of research I have decided to apply for an ACT state sponsorship (would be issued on my skill but would include by husband and daughter). Can anyone tell me the estimated or (in there experience) timeframes from applying for state sponsorship to the DIAC finalising their visa. I have read on another website that this could take three years. Is this case? My second question relates to the time from having the visa issued to settling in australia. Am I right in thinking that it can be validated within one year but then you have an additional two years to settle in Australia? Obviously if the answer to my first question is that it is a three year turn around then I will not need extra time to settle but if they are turned around quicker than more time may be needed. Thanks in advance.
