    How far out?

Cheers, they are actually Jack Russell / Fox terrier crosses.
  2. I'm indebted to you again Andy.

    How far out?

They are cute, aren't they? Ginger and Digby by name. Or, seeing as my darling daughter named them, and to give them their full names; "His Faithful Sidekick Ginger" and "Sir Digby Chicken Caesar."
  5. A little closer still. Today I transfered the money over to the UK to pay off our mortgage there. Happy Thom. :jiggy:

    How far out?

We will be returning from Canberra to the UK in Feb 2018, if all goes to plan, and taking our two "little gentlemen"*, Jack Russell / Fox Terrier crosses. How far out from that date should we engage a pet transfer service, to ensure we get all the veterinary stuff sorted etc? Do we need to have our own flight booked before engaging a service? *as the wife** calls them. ** or "little f**kers," as I call them
  7. I have to agree with downunder2016, Andy always goes the extra miles for people, he's a very kind chap.
  8. Has anyone done this? Do you take a big hit if you take your lump sum out?
  9. Amazing book, I've been sending copies to friends to help them understand why I must leave Aus.

  11. I'm similar in a way. When I first went to Land's End in Cornwall, back in 1982 on a Uni climbing course, I felt some attachment to the area, even though I'd not visited there before. I managed to live there for 10 years and still own a house there. I'm returning to live in Blighty, and will not return to the area I was born, as I feel no connection to it. I will move back to Land's End, and not just because we have a house there.
  12. Some lovely replies, my thanks! I'll be 59 when I retire should our plans work.. Still reasonably fit, (just back from the gym in fact,) fitter than most 30 year olds anyway, and with plenty of hobbies to keep me interested. Thanks all.
  13. Thanks mate! Mailed you.
  14. Thanks Andy. I don't want to waste your time as we're just speculating at the moment, and our situation is quite complex. If I were to email you a brief summary, could you give us your thoughts on matters? As I say, I don't think it would be fair of me to use up your time when it may all come to nowt.
  15. We're number crunching at the moment for our best bet at an early retirement date back to Blighty. September 2018 is the earliest we can forecast so far., A lot depends on the $Au vs Quid. Just sharing, no real point to this post! Happy Thom.
  16. Been recommended these by someone on another website; http://www.mintfin.com.au/
  17. Both would be handy, happy to take advice on either though.
  18. Cheers all, some ideas there we hadn't thought of.
  19. If you had an incoming £500 a month to save/invest over the next 4 years, what would you do with it to get the best return? Just to complicate matters the money will be in the UK.
  20. One lives in hope though!! I mean, what with Canberra being home to every embassy from around the world, and of course the British high commission, and it being a hub for all Aussie international politics, you'd think there just may be someone here with the knowledge and skills?
  21. Hi gang. Does anyone know of a Canberra based financial advisor, one who is able to give advice on international matters. What we need is personal (i.e. retirement, savings, superannuation financial advice,) for our potential retirement back to Blighty Thanks in advance Thom
  22. Really don't know mate, soz.
  23. We used Europecar for our last 8 week stay, but we got the best deal with them off a comparison site. Maybe they wised up, or it was due to the second driver remit. We did this and Com bank paid up when my Mrs scratched the car
  24. Last time we went back we hired a car for 8 weeks. I used comparison engine to get the best deal, and stipulated it had to have a "free second driver."
  25. [h=2]Jeremy Corbyn is as popular as...........[/h] Head lice?
