  1. Handy, we are in exactly the same position as you, our 2 years runs out in Jan so need to look at what other deals are out there. Any chance you could let me know who you have contacted to quote? Many thanks
  2. There are some really valuable comments on this post thanks for the useful insight to those that are working in Oz. My CV is 3 pages as that is what I've read is the Aussie style norm (3-4 pages) but it sounds like I should try and reduce it to two and make it very succinct which I'm sure will help when there are typically 100 applicants for the jobs I'm applying for. Thanks all.
  3. Hi Carmel, I too would be interested in this, although I'm not in Oz yet I will be soon and have not had much success with my job applications. A good proven aussie CV would be a huge help. Cheers
  4. Adam, are these vacancies still available? I've previously worked as a consultant in this line of work and may be interested if so. I already have a visa sorted. Thanks, Damon
  5. Hi All, My now wife and I were granted PR visas (176) last year, we were engaged at the time and have subsequently got married. This means that my wifes surname has changed and she has had to get a new passport. We're planning our validation trip for March. I'd like to have her visa linked to her new passport, the UK embassy say send the electronic documents to the vias processing centre. The documents from DIAC website however say I need to send certified copies of the new passport. Does anyone know if a scanned copy would be ok just like during the eVisa application process where we just had to upload electronic versions without certification. Has anyone else done this and if so how? Advice appreciated, thanks.
  6. Dig23, have you seen the article on PIO which gives a pre departure checklist? http://www.pomsinoz.com/forum/content/8-emigrating-checklist-departure.html We're in the same boat as you, probably heading out to aus Aug/Sep next year. Feels like a ages away but I bet it flies. Good luck...
  7. Congratulations Illuminati - its a good feeling isn't it?! Best of luck with your future move.
  8. Godd work Hoff - worthy of a sticky? I think so.
  9. We used the Spire clinic in Manchester - cant fault their service, plenty of free parking and have Saturday appointments too. We paid £260 per person if I remeber correctly.
  10. Depends how you've applied, if online it's an e-visa and no need for a stamp in the passport. You can check it on the VEVO pages, although I've had a problem with the VEVO system despite being granted visas.
  11. If I were you I'd wait until requested as you may have a long wait and as you say the documents have a validity period. The medicals are quite pricey so I wouldn't chance messing it up. You could apply for the PCC certificates from the UK as these are pretty cheap and may take a while to process and send to Aus. Just my £0.02...
  12. Hi All, after being granted 176 visas last week I put our TRN number and passport details into the DIAC VEVO site to check our entitlements as this is the system used by employers to check if you're allowed to work in Oz. As the main applicant my visa details came up no problem, but the secondary applicant (my fiance) came up with an error. We've defo been granted visas, but I hope this will not cause issues later down the line.. Anyone else have this problem?
  13. Congrats 2AussieBoys, awesome feeling isn't it?! Enjoy that bottle of bubbly...
  14. Thanks Jars, yes super stoked! Cue a big babalas tomorrow.....!! Good luck and hope yours all goes to plan. Ps - how long did your SA birth certificate take? Just found out I need a new one with an apostille stamp on it before I can get married in a few months time! SA High Commission website is saying 6 months which is a no-go. Found these guys who will do it in less than 3 weeks... http://www.safasttrack.com/, but they charge ££££'s for the privilege. Doesn't look like I have a choice though.
  15. Wooo Hooo - got the email this morning informing us that we'd been granted a 176 visa!!!!!:jiggy: Really pleased, it's been a stressful process but really glad we did it ourselves, wouldn't have been able to do it without all the great support here on PIO. Hope the rest of the April crowd still waiting don't have to wait much longer!!
  16. Our Police certificates came through yesterday, so have just uploaded them. I think that's it and we're all done - now for the final wait!
  17. Howzit bru, good to see some other saffers on these forums! I never lived in Durbs but went to school near PMB - my cousins are cane farmers on the North coast and my sister was at varsity in Durban and lived in Berea / Westville. I also had mates from Umhlanga and Ballito so spent some time there too, it's a nice part of the world especially Umhlanga, how come you're leaving for OZ? I'm stuck in a freezing cold/wet UK so would hapily have a 15 deg winter! I miss the southern hemisphere rays!!! Good luck with your application, hope all goes to plan.
  18. First time, but with lost and lots of practice - scraped it on the reading and was convinced I'd not made it!
  19. Glad to hear it subs - congratulations!! You must be very pleased!
  20. Whats happening 'April submission' people?! I've not given an update on my progress recently, so here goes. We had medicals last weekend at the Spire in Manchester, just checked the application status on the DIAC system and its saying medicals have been finalised!!! Just waiting for the police certificates to come through now and then hopefully we're home and dry! One thing I did notice though was the Document checklist is still listing the medicals are 'requested' - I assume this is just the system which hasn't updated, anyone else had this? For those applying from the UK - how long did you wait for the your police clearance certs to come through? Do they stick to the deadlines they qoute? Getting impatient but this application journey is almost over! Davo - where in Durbs are you from bru? Good luck to everyone still waiting...
  21. And congrats to you too loveshelleybeach! Seems like lots of movement recently for the April gang. I've got medicals booked tomorrow and still am waiting for our PCC checks to come back, so I'll hopefully be joining you with a shiny new visa soon!!!
  22. Hi thehoe5, No I didn't have to pay anything extra, just a form to fill in to ask for priority processing. I didn't have to do a practical as my skills assessment was for a profession rather than trade, so that may change things. Best of luck and hoping you get everthing in before the deadline!
  23. We didn't complete or upload either form 80 or form 1221. Neither have been asked for by our CO which I'm pleased about. I'm sure most of the information is already provided in the appliaction form anyway. For UK applicants, how long are all your PCC checks taking? I have medicals booked fo 10 days time, but need to progress the police checks and was wondering if these will be back in time within the 28 day window.
