hi sideaway Gladstone is in Queensland but Queensland aren't sponsoring bricklayers so you will have to go to SA,WA or NT and get state sponsorship, you have to do a skills assessment its not hard basic stuff .

hello john , Are you looking for people with tarmacing and drainage for roads i have over 20 years in tarmacing and construction work also AQF3 in brick and block work nvq 2 civil engineer and le excavator plus my white card.

hi y not / iam in the same bout as you we need 8s i did one on sat its the 7th i did the bricklaying test in london in feb and have been try since then to get 8s geting close now hopfuly this will be the one i think you just need to keep going at it . good luck

thanks wrussell, mine is on sol2 and so is hairdressing i have got aqf3 but we are 5 points short so are you saying we can get hers assessed even though she has not done 12 out of the last 24 months in that job we only have her certs and some refs . sorry if its going over old ground thanks

hi we are trying to get 5 points and was wondering if any one new if you still need to have been working for twelve months out of twenty four because someone told me you dont to get the 5 points for wifes certs,my wife has level three in hairdressing but has not been working in it passed it in 2011. thanks .

hi shelly666 i still need 8s because i was going to get a eatra 10 points from my brother sponsoring me but he cant now so i don't get them any more so 5 points wouldn't be enough thanks ill get there in the end with a bit of luck.

thanks for that ,sorry i might be a bit stupid so is it state sponsored or employer nominated or do you have to have both? i have my ielts on sat so hopefully ill get a good result .

thanks for your reply ,i have a passed the skills test and got AQF111 just the ielts to do cant get the 8s we need. so how does the sol 2 work the agent we were using has said there's nothing we can do unless we get an offer of a job but that's not going to happen in bricklaying . thanks

hello everyone, I hope someone can answer this question for us please. it say's on the au gov web site that the trasitional arrangement also allow any one who held a qualifing student visa on feb 2010 to apply for a temporary skilled -graduate (subclass 485) visa on the basis of the sol in effect on the 8th feb 2010 these transitional arrangments are in place until 31st dec 2012 the update of the sol will not apply to applicants eligible. So does that mean because i held a student visa on feb 8th 2010 that i can sill apply for a 176 visa even though my skill bricklaying is going to come off the sol on the 1st of july 2012 ? can anyone answer this for me it's the last chance for us until bricklaying comes back on again when ever that might be. thanks .

thanks mate the agent we are going through has said that the only way is the 489 visa, so we won't be able to get a visa until it comes back on the list ,ian's is asking around for us but not holding much hope ,we were going to look in to new zealand to see if bricklaying is on there list because i now a bloke down there with a building company we will have to wait but we all want to come back to aus to live its just a wait game now ,we would have been ok if they left it on the list because they droped the points down to 60 . any way have you sorted your 's out yet ? your doing what they wantedyou to do so i think you'll be fine .

i need eights because of my age but 7s would have been fine after july 1st because 60 points will be enough fot a skilled visa instead of 65. cant you get ss for qld for your pr. we will let know how we get on but i dont think i got 8s on the last test . say hello to the wife and esme from all of us and good luck. cheers .

hi ste5hk, were in the same boat, i failed ielts twice and waiting for results of number three the funny thing is i got a bit excited because it said the points you have to pass for skilled visa are going down to 60 from65 so i would only need to get 7s instead of 8s but it does'nt come in until july 1st what a lot of crapp,you just have to keep going .

i hope thats not going to happen i only need to get 8's in the ielts , i did start the bricklaying with you in the tafe in nambour but came back , i did it in london this year through the tra and passed but failed ielts twice waiting for the results of number three ,so i hope some one can give you some good news . cheers
