  1. Hello, I am doing this myself without an agent, do i need to do a Decision Ready Checklist (as it is listed as 'recommended' on my portal application) and if so where is it as i can't see it on the site or anything. Thanks in advance, Joanne
  2. Hey yeah i am just wondering the same answer also!!
  3. Travelup is a good site if you expand your travel dates to +/- a longer time, it gives you a comparison grid and shows you cheapest around that time, across airlines. I've been to Melbourne with Royal Brunei, cheapest i have ever been on to Aus at £630 last November, but this is a dry flight so they are a good company if you don't mind a small brunei airport and to not have an alcoholic drink on the flight.
  4. Hey Fergamy, i am due to come to Perth mid October and have just been looking at the prices online for things and therefore interested to know how to haggle..any tips hehe? Do you think you can haggle on cars too? Many thanks in advance...
  5. I am 33, single female coming late Sept think (still awaiting flight confirmation from employer), but think I will seek out the local rugby league club as thats what i am into, in terms of making friends. It seems bbq's at home are more the in-thing would you say? But you need to know people before you kinda go round their house! So when i get there, I am up for coming out...
  6. You would be best asking the AASW - or you can llook under the overseas criteria..it all depends what you have done as your first degree, how much expereince etc. I have a masters and this has been useful to me in starting higher up the pay scale as at WA they recognise this. But a lot of candidates didn't have masters. SO best bet checking on AASW site.
  7. Hello Does anyone know how long it takes for the non-fast track option...just seeing where i can keep costs to a minimum. Cheers
  8. Hello, I am in the Uk and I am moving to OZ in a few months. I have 6pts currently....will the points go with me...or do they get lost in the sea somewhere ;-) Also what are the car insurance costs like over there compared to UK? Many thanks!
  9. The powers that be, in charge of the UK train us all up into public sector jobs (myself being Social Worker) but then there are very few jobs after that training....particularly now! Few jobs that are going have about 100 applications each ... I am certainly taking my skills out of the UK to where they will be renumerated and recognised appropriately. Not putting me through years of training to then only created substantial jobs in the unqualified roles!! I suspect similar in the Police.. I got offered 2 jobs in Australia but couldn't get one here!! I could of course if i moved to London but I couldn't afford to live there. The UK may eventually benefit from training me up if I return, if they create jobs matched to training, but not anytime soon... Government shouldn't be so stupid to spend the money on training us up if there's little employment in these areas.
  10. Gosh Tia well done you....you have shown remarkable strength ... how did your manager back down in the end? And yes to get 2 job offers here is amazing. I applied for 3 in January...one with a LA here, WA and NT and the LA one i didn't get an interview because of the bad ref and like SUzanne says, i believe fate has its ways. Have you looked at NT as they are still interviewing and so a cheeky email direct to NT could be worthwhile...? It looks like you may have taught that manager some learning points!!
  11. Yes I am 33 moving alone...the way i see it is there's less risk in that you only have to settle yourself. When i was in relationships i found they actually blocked me in this goal of mine!! I expect to meet people when i am over there...
  12. Hopefully so!!! Does nothing for my poor circulation...no more white fingers in OZ!!
  13. I got this reply last night:- At present I am unable to give you an idea of timeframes, we will start discussing vacancies with the Districts next week and hopefully start allocating applicants to positions. The relocation package we offer is $15,000 for a family or $9,000 for a single. Is it just Metropolitan Perth you are interested in working in or would you also consider country locations. Please keep me updated if you accept a position in another state so that we can withdraw you from the pool. If you are aware of other applicants who accept other positions please advise them to withdraw from our pool.
  14. Yes Gilrean excellent point to make which my mum said when i was telling her; are your supervision notes recorded ? ( I know some do and some don't). do you have other managers that have supervised you- who could submit and you suggest to them they take best of 4 or something? Definately use that appeal process. As how will you ever get away from that place!! (manager must secretly like/admire you...even if on an unconcious level!!)
  15. Aye yeah Tia, I had also heard bad refs is illegal .... did your manager send you a copy? You could ask WA for a copy of what he/she sent and reply to all the points and yes construct an argument against those points with evidence. (Don't know if they have the same FOI procedure there...i.e. if you'd have to wait for them sharing it with you?) Just like you fight in your workplace....look at how you fight there and so carry on with this as its personal life chances for you. Ask the CAB what they suggest. If that manager doesnt like you, you would think she would write you a pos one just to get rid....or is it the case that she doesn't want to lose you? Or is it her power thing? I can't remember if you said you'd applied to NT or even wanted to, but an agency is the recruiter and that has helped with my not so positive ref,,, i just had to write a paragraph with an explanation and they accepted it... Jeeze I think your lesson has had to be fight, fight and fight even more! Yes I will email them tonight to ask them how quick they think we will be offered more concrete propositions.
