  1. not condoning the activity but the 6 years thing is around acknowledging the debt is owned for example making a payment or replying to a letter/phone call. which i guess no one who wants to do this will actually be doing
  2. I've been looking at the travel part of moneysupermarket, the cheapest is about £125 which seems quite low. haven't had much chance to go through the terms and conditions though so not sure if it covers things like Sky Diving/Cage Diving, although I guess though if anything goes wrong with those it's not going to be insurance you need

    New here :)

i'm the same one way flights, still need to book travel insurance so good point about checking around about not having return flights. I didn't want to be tied to a return date or be saddled with massive costs with changing especially with an option of stopping for a 2nd year. Could entry really be refused without a flight out of there?

    New here :)

hey greg, I'm leaving the uk on 29th May, heading to sydney, but spending a couple of weeks in Southern India and 3 weeks in northern thailand/Laos on my way to Sydney. In terms of flights skyscanner.net & Airasia have been invaluable to me, managed to get flights one way from London -> Kochi, India -> Kuala Lumpur -> Chiang Mai -> Kuala Lumpur -> Sydney for Aprox. £630, which i don't think i could have found much cheaper if i went direct. So getting to visit a few places into the bargain Not sure about ozintro haven't looked at anything like that, i guess expecting to meet people along the way in hostels. I've booked 10 night in sydney and then after i get there i'll see what happens, maybe head north to try and get 3 months seasonal work for a visa extention early on (not sure on where yet), although the sticky posts on this site have gave me some good information to think about. Shaun
  5. hiya, i'm the same thought i'd take a year or 2 out of the rat race before it got too late. leaving at the end of may and will spend time india and Thailand/Laos before landing in sydney at the end of june. however in terms of a plan of what to do then not sure yet. I've got a list of most of the typical must do things but planning on getting there and see what happens.
  6. looking at the nikon d3100, mainly because it looks slightly better than the 1100D. i had a look at the superzoom, but leaning more towards a slr as i wanted something a bit more advanced even though i'm only a novice at the moment. so i can grow into it like
  7. i've booked the first 10 nights in sydney, then i'll see what happens. a good reason for booking it from here is you can get a free transfer from the airport rather than taxi\bus\train or however else you may travel lol
  8. i just ordered a new netbook, cheaper than a tablet and apparently has a 14 hr battery from the description on pc world. but even if it 8-10 this'll be enough mainly bought for skyping home and uploading photos too. although that brings another question anyone considered a DSLR camera? been looking at them but don't know if i can justify £350 here or whether they'll be cheaper in oz?
  9. just a thought did you pay for the flights via credit /debit card? you may be entitled to a refund from your bank. Not 100% sure but might be worth a try
  10. there's a travel insurance part of money supermarket with options for backpackers insurance, might be worth a look http://www.moneysupermarket.com/travel-insurance/
  11. thanks that's what i kinda expected, just wondered if there was anyone with first hand experience of this and whether the 6 months maximum timescale was a hinderence. just that looking at the rates i could earn more than enough for the whole year in 3 months
  12. a few questions, do you have to have a job offer already to apply for this visa (if so where did you find your job offer?) also the accredition what form does this take? is it a face to face interview/ test ore something different? thanks shaun
  13. I'm over in Oz on a WHV from June, just wondered what the possibilities of working within the IT industry. I'm currently a business/systems analyst with 5 years experience between aerospace/finance (odd mix i know!!). Has anyone experience of being on a working holiday visa in this line of work? is there call within companies for temporary staff that can't work somewhere longer than 6 months? Or is the alternative fruitpicking/manual labour jobs the best way to go? thanks shaun
  14. not sure but my guess would be no and can't see how it could be enforced! would be interested if anyone can give a definate answer though
  15. wouldn't worry about, probably go through without a hitch. if they contact you just say you didn't think you had to put it down as u thought it was spent
  16. hmm not sure then, i only had the one and was honest about it. But i guess if they do a criminal record check then it may show up and they may ask questions. Not sure whats on the landing card so don't know about that. I would have recommended putting everything down on the application though
  17. Shouldn't cause you a problem, i assume you just got a fine and lost your license? I had a drink driving conviction which didn't seem to affect my application.
