  1. Used Hifx. Gave them a figure we wanted and fortunately a few weeks later we got to that exchange rate.
  2. I priced up on line and then hit the big stores. I ended up buying a bbq with four main burners, side burner, back burner and rotisserie for approx $599/$649 from Masters. It really is swings and roundabouts BUT at least having a look around the cheap nasty made stuff stands out like a sore thumb. Plenty to look at. Agree with m2m about webers.
  3. I think without any problem you can serve up a freshly made (not frozen or ready made muck)main meal for four for $12 ($3 per head). Most Butchers have a few very very good special offers per week and there are umpteen side of the road veg stalls virtually giving stuff away. In recent weeks we have sold: Tassie lamb Shoulder chops for 5.99kg,Premium mince 5.99kg,Premium Lamb and Rosemary thick Sausages 4.99 kg,Hands of pickled pork 3.99kg,Shoulder pickled pork (on bone) 4.99kg,Crumbed yearling steak 6.99kg,Budget Rumps 5.99kg,Legs of pork 4.49kg plus many many more. Not all cheap is crap(most is),take advantage of the special offers that some shops offer.

    cost of living

Its understandable people running out and paying silly money for items. The big upheaval of moving their family and themselves across the other side of the world has most peoples head spinning. Alot of these items most familiies cant or wont do without for even a short period of time,so they end up running to the high street and paying the big prices. You can purchase pretty cheap as long as you have time to shop around and find the cheap spots. Most of us have learnt the hard way when it comes to purchasing goods.

  13. Silly question. Is hubby in the catering business or does he shopfit premises etc for a living? Andy
  14. A few months ago we started looking to purchase. We found pretty close to what we was looking for of which was advertised for 'offers above $600k'. The estate agents told his any offer had to start with a 6. We offered 540k,they asked us if we had a bit more,we offered 550k final offer. They ripped are hands off. Be patient, dont fall in love and offer what you want not what they want. Good luck
  15. We have a nice 4 bed detached for sale in Ainsdale. A couple of hundred meters from the village and you can get on the sandhills at the top of the road.
  16. I know. I visited three stores today and they each had a sausage sizzle outside.:err: I often see them and think, "Go on,be a devil, at least try something else" Our shop is in a plaza and we often have a sizzle going on outside, SES,Lions club etc etc etc of which we supply some now and then. BUT the majority go for the 3.99/4.99 specials from the IGA. ps You dont eat only organic if you eat off of a sausage sizzle.:cute:
  17. NOW,sausage sizzles.....wtf are they all about? People cant like sausages that much surely!
  18. Sorry but you cant get or have 100% meat sausages. It has to have a fat content, flavouring and in 28 years I havent seen any made without water. Try it out. Go to your local butchers and get a couple of kg's of 100% lean mince (probably buy rump and ask them to mince it) and also ask them for enough sausage skins for a couple of kilo's of mince. Take it home and stuff the mince into the skins and cook away. Id imagine they would hit the bottom of the bin faster than it took to come them. 100% meat? Think about it.
