  1. V6's are for P-Platers mate! Congrats anyway.. You been for that lobotomy yet?
  2. Good for the smaller miners. Will it stay up though? Who knows!
  3. Nice spot. Both nice areas for a coffee or a pint and sought after areas by families and young people. Not a fan of the Perth 70's style house though. Much prefer the older character homes in those areas although they usually command more $$$
  4. I think there has been a slight decrease in property prices but nothing hugely noticable as of yet. Mid $800's isn't too bad for inner city. Which area / suburb is it in?
  5. Suppose time will tell although when the recession sunk it's teeth in in the UK and the housing market slumped rentals rocketed and so did the rent prices as people couldn't get a mortgage. A alot of people are leaving Australia though. I personally know 20 that have went back to Ireland and the UK in the last 6 months. They were all doing FIFO and have left with enough cash to buy a house outright back home so not bad going at all for them.
  6. Only one of the 3 mentioned are coming towards the tail end but still has another year or so left in it being Gateway. The stadium is yet to start properly and Elizabeth Quay still has a good bit to go All the othersare at the early stages or yet to start. Apparently all the finances are in place for the underground rail link and the designers have started and the early stages of land acquisition have commenced. I am quiet confident that it will take place. The construction boom related to mining infrastructure is over and Barrow Island LNG project is in the final stages but as for metro related projects I am pretty optimistic. I often talk to a lot of people with a bit of behind the scenes knowledge of the proposed projects. Good news for alot of people if/when they go ahead.
  7. I don't think the prices will reduce much tbh. People still have sky high mortgages to pay. A greed culture ingrained it's way into WA when everyone was carried away with the boom time wages. On a positive note. The construction market still looks to be a relativaly good shape in Perth with some big projects in the pipeline for 2016 - 2020. My company is predicting 2016 to be an active year. - Perth Stadium (Current) - Gateway Roads project (Current) - Elizabeth Quay (Waterfront) Project - Freight Link Roe Hwy upgrade (to start 2016) - Swan Valley Bypass road to the Great Northern Hwy (Malaga to Muchea) to start late 2016 - Mitchell Fwy Extension - Burns Beach Road to Hester Avenue (to start 2016) - Bayswater to Airport / Airport to Forrestfield underground rail link (to start late 2016) - And hopefully a start on the lightrail project within the next 4 years which would be good
  8. The current situation in WA reminds me of the UK in 2007/2008 just before the recession kicked in with avengence. Perth and WA as a whole relies solely on the resources sector and the downturn is having a knock-on effect right through the State. Next year is going to be a toughy no doubt!
  9. 1 week? You'll barely be shaking off the jet lag before you'll be back on the plane. 1 week ain't enough to do anything
  10. Yeah, i couldn't walk properly for a couple of days either! Lol
  11. It just felt like a really bad hangover for 2 days really!
  12. Had a temperature of 39.1 degrees. Had a sore head that I couldn't get rid of for 2 days. Nausea although I only throw up very slightly once when my temperature was high and I had pain around my abdomen and kidney area. I went to the doctor the day after I was bitten but he just gave me anti inflammatory pills and told me to rest up. The first photo was shortly after I was bitten. The second was the following day...
  13. Had quite a few white tail spiders in the house. A lot of redbacks out the back garden and seen a few snakes in Perth and up North. I also got bitten on the foot by a redback when I was working in Karratha.
  14. I've came across several snakes. I've actually seen more in Perth Metro than I did up North. There are loads of Tiger Snakes along the banks of Swan River in Perth. Best avoided as they can be quite aggressive. A Dugite went past me last week up near Joondalup. It got out of my way pretty quickly though. Seen quite a few Dugites in the Metro area since I've been here. They don't really bother me.
  15. I've been eating Nannas frozen berries in my smoothies for the last 3 months!
  16. Apologies Fiona. I didn't realise I already had plans booked in for today when the meet up got organised. I completely forgot that I was going to Laneway Festival in Freo with mates. Bought the tickets ages ago. Hope everyone had a good one!.. Next time hopefully!
  17. Perthpoms is perhaps a better place to connect with fellow Perthites. http://www.perthpoms.com
  18. They say that 66% of the population in Australia will get skin cancer at some point in their life. Scary statistics. For some reason many Aussies seem to think they are bronzed god's / godesses who can take the sun when the reality is most of them just have the same genetics and skin type as us pasty poms. Hence the massive skin cancer statistics!
  19. Would help although would cost you a pretty penny!
  20. I'll be going tomorrow before I hear to the Kooks concert at the Belvoir Ampitheatre in Swan Valley. Great venue for an outdoor gig!
  21. What time you going Fi? It opens at 12.00 so if you want an outdoor table I'd recommend getting there for opening. If your going later then take picnic blankets and / or camping chairs as there will be loads of space on the grass. There is an outdoor bar and an outdoor food place where you can get pizza or a spitroast!
  22. Mandoon estate (new place in swan valley) craft beers and huge outdoor area for kids! Highly recommend! Cracking beers
