  1. Ha ha . Thank you folks for your replies.Was out on a vacation w/o any Gizmos(first time in 8 years), never had a chance to check any of the forums. Fantastic experience, peace and quiet all around.. OK. That was OT. We make around 240 in the US, so looking at the offers we have had so far 275+ is on the cards. We might have to compromise on the size of the house(close to 5k sq ft here) and on the general standard of lifestyle(cars,schools et al) .Mortgages for eg look to be massive in Oz for a similar property. Ah well, you win some you lose some...
  2. Hello All, I intend to move to Australia with wife and kid, specifically the Melbourne area from the good ol US of A, on a permanent Basis. Anyone here done that move?? At first glance the Living Costs seem substantially higher than out here, but i would like some good info from folks who have done the move across the globe and how life has been. I would be looking at around 275 - 300k as a family income.. Thanks Rocky :smile:

I though i would post my timelines, so that folks can have an idea as to how far up DIAC is: Name: Date of Visa application:7th Feb 2011 Nationality: High/Low Risk: HR Trade/profession: IT Visa type: 176 Onshore/offshore:Offshore Pre-14th July 2010 Category (If applicable): 3 Post-14th July Category: 4 Medicals submitted: April 2011 Police check submitted: April 2011 Date CO assigned: No idea Date of employment verification (If applicable): None Date visa granted: 23/09/2011 I did receive the 18th March email and was not contacted by ny CO(didn't bother following up as i was in no rush). Best of Luck for all the others. DIAC seems to be cranking up the pace a bit. Hopefully we should see a lot more grants next week.
