1. We are still looking if anyone has one please!! :-)

Great to hear from you! I know Worcestershire very well, I used to live in Herefordshire for a while and used to work in St Peter's Worcester out of the BT building. I have been here in Oz for 3.5 years and love the location although the weather has not been great of late!

I have been lucky to get a job here in the area as there is not much about in and around coffs or at least should I say there is not much in the way of Project Manager type work, I have managed to secure a full time job at Woolies in Toormina, which is a world apart from what I was used to!! We should meet up at some point for a coffee or a barby or something, always great to catch up with people from back home, today I was speaking to someone in Woolies who was from Brum that had just moved to Coffs having lived in WA for the last 20+ years, her hubby was in mining? they have now relocated to Coffs for a better life.

Anyway keep in touch and maybe when you are free sometime we could have a coffee or a beer!

 3. Hi these actions are quite normal with turbulence and the sooner the pilot increases or decreases the altitude, the sooner you are removed from those pockets of air, I find that airlines take suitable forms of action to try to relieve the stress of passengers, I have found that the RAF take the radical approach both with turbulence and take off and landing, so you have nothing to worry about with the likes of Emirates etc.. :-)
 4. I think I smell something on this one, B **** springs to mind! And you need providing with employment, I would have thought someone with so many talents could do anything? maybe you could become an employment agency and employ yourself, now you can't get any more direct than that, and while we are at it how is your dentistry coming along? and your own medical diagnosis when you need it!
 5. That's all very good until something goes wrong, its not like buying a DVD from Amazon, that's only a few quid nothing lost if it goes missing in the post, then I suppose you like many others expect the country to dig you out of the deep smell stuff when things go wrong! I have seen many airlines go to the wall, myself I prefer a little insurance for a few quid extra, if there had been no unions all those years ago just think of the poor pay and conditions we would have now, they were just like another insurance policy, you pays your money you takes your choice...
 6. Bunnings, but tools don't last the same here in my opinion, but then again I suppose everything comes in from China in the UK now, As my gran always said you only get what you pay for!! but there's nothing you can do about the cheap metal that is being used these days!! good ole British steel...
 7. Hi Soph and Joe, sounds great let us know when you get in Oz, you will not be far from us at all as we are nearer to you than Coffs! Karl and Alicia
 8. I now know why everyone has boats here in Oz, they just knew there was not enough room on Noah's ark.. besides they like to take them for a spin on the back of the car!
 9. I think folks have all gone soft after a few months/years of living here!! me I can't wait to step into the freezer at work just to cool down, next folks will be saying they don't swim in the sea during the so called winter months? get a grip!!
 10. Not sure about every other state but in NSW, you have to have been in Australia for an unbroken period of at least 6 months, therefore I will never get an Oz licence as I leave here every 3-4 months to go back to the UK for a couple of weeks, what a crap system that is!!! Can't even drive the fire truck and we are short on drivers been to the RTA and policy is policy, I now know why they still have wooden bridges here.....
 11. Please see response on your latest post!!
 12. I don't think you will be able to visit him on a tourist visa for 6 months, I know for definate you will have to leave Oz to reset the visa within 3 months, so finance is going to be a problem for you unless the partner is going to pay for you to fly out of Oz and then back in!! its really not that simple and they will want to know your intentions on landing in Oz!! I know that for sure!!! I was fortunate I had several thousands in the bank when I came in.......Best of Luck!!!!
 13. aye bay never gunna lose my accent, no way be buggery!!
 14. Hi can you tell me please what the communications cabling manual is for? only I was the technical owner for all UG cabling back in the UK for the cabling and overhead teams for our largest Telecoms provider, just interested to know!! presume it must have something to do with the so called "pie in the sky National Broadband Network??" Hope you don't mind me asking
 15. Like I said for you it may be different, but others obviously see things differently, I am glad it works for you, but I still maintain it's not all sunshine and roses out here and I would not want to convince anyone other wise!! too many have moved here at a significant expense and family upheavals to find that it's not what they wanted so the least we can do is be honest with the people, me I could land on the moon and survive, I am not saying I would like it, but I have tried living abroad twice now and yes I was once one of those doom mongers that thought the UK owed me something, the politicians were rubbish and the weather and the mundane lifestyle, but as I have grown older I have come to realise that the UK is my home and that's where I want to be again one day, I don't care if the sun comes out or the beach has golden sand, the UK is what I know and long for again some day!! but I do admire the people that have come to Oz for betterment and made a success of it.
 16. That's fine if you turn up in Perth but there's more to Australia than Perth even though some don't realise it!! and no the sun does not shine every day and no I would not want to live in Perth, I might aswell be back in the UK as there are more pomz there than anywhere else in Oz, frankly I don't see the attraction, stinking hot and surrounded by a concrete jungle, same as Sydney and Brisbane for that matter, (apologies to those in Perth in nice air conditioned offices it's actually stinking hot outside!!) I thought people came here for a lifestyle change? and like I said I don't care what people say it is my opinion and I wouldn't live in any of those 3 locations for a fat pig.. I have the same lifestyle now as when I was back in the UK and if that had to change here for a job then I would be back to the UK like a shot!! The people paint the picture not me, you only have to read the posts, people would not return to the UK if they thought it was a lesser country than here like I said it's all relevant to where you live and want to live and the lifestyle you have now to the lifestyle you had back in the UK, I don't condemn anyone for doing either but when you say it is far from the truth it is just utter rubbish the same rubbish that the TV programme's paint, you obviously have the perfect life in Perth and good luck to you, but I would not say it is any better and I for one would definitely put aside my thongs for a pair of boots any day!!!
 17. Most of the posts are all relevant to where you come from, I don't know if I could go back to the UK either if I had to go to one of the major cities, I am more fortunate than that and still have a wonderful property in a great location not too far from the black mountains, surrounded by open countryside!! I will not say anything negative about Australia and neither will I of the UK, the UK is my home and I do not abandon ship at the sign of trouble, most of our grandfathers had to fight in 2 world wars for what I still call Great Britain, no matter how many immigrants there are there and no matter if the sun does not shine every day!! but I can say one thing if all these people that are coming out here to Oz looking for something different, then I dont care what people say it's no different here to back in the UK and it may be a case of looking at your own individual life as a whole has people are clearly not happy with something? and I don't have individual answers that's were people need to do there own soul searching.... Did mine and I am going back when the time is right!!!
 18. There'll be more I am sure!!!
 19. Oh it's still here, it's just that folk let there dogs sh*t on the beach now and then try to cover it with sand, just watch out for that turd surfing!! ain't no different here to anywhere else, the owners are still afraid to get there own dogs mess up or just can't be bothered, at least you can see it on the pavements of the UK!!
 20.

Hi just wondering if you are still living in Coffs and where you are from in the UK?

and how life's treating you out here? always good to here it from someone who knows the local area..

 21. I would go home without the offer of money or land at the drop of an hat, the time is just not right yet!! but one day I will be back there!! but for now back and forward to the UK every 3 months for a couple of weeks at a time..
 22. Your last word 'home' that is the operative word, that should paint a picture for all of those with any shadow of doubt, I notice that a lot of people that have moved here still class the UK as back home, Australia is a great place but for some of us it will never be home, it's just an acceptable location that we have moved to in search of something!! although some are not sure of exactly what? all you hear is the sun and the lifestyle but is that truly what people look for or do we just get bored with our mundane lifestyles in the country that we were born and constantly look for something better? I am one of those that will live here until I have had enough, but I will be returning home someday to rest my weary bones and couldn't bear the thought to have to be buried here, so many miles from the place I know as "home" 'green grass, rolling hills and a smell of fresh air that is unmistakeable on a cool fresh winters morning'..
