  1. Seems so, if you look at the spreadsheet there are less and less applications, fingers crossed this is a reflection of applicants as a whole.
  2. Well, our application was lodged on 15 Dec, so I'm just looking at it like I'm halfway there now. The past 3 months have rocketed by, so the new 3 will be a breeze!
  3. I've been monitoring this thread since well before our application was launched. I don't have much to say right now as it's so far away, but give it another couple of months and I'll be piping right up on a daily basis!
  4. I arrived on a 417 like yourself. After 3 months I found some work and the company then backed me for a 457, 4 year work Visa. After doing the minimum 2 years of employment on the 457, I approached them about sponsoring my for residency on a 186 Visa. It was never my intention to get residency when I arrived, I was just a backpacker who went to see what happens, so this route worked out very well for me. If you are prepared to work in more rural areas, I would say you stand more of a chance with this route. Everyone's situation is different, It may suit you more to see if you are eligible for a Regional Sponsored migration, or a skilled independent visa. That way you could apply from the UK and just sit it out. [h=3][/h]
  5. This is the final Sunset of 2015 at Soldiers Point in Port Stephens.
  6. Urgh, I got an email from our MA today saying on my Wifes UK police cert her Gender is down as Male. They have submitted it anyway, but advised to reapply for another certificate just in case. Not a major setback as its so early, just $200 down the drain. It's our own fault I guess
  7. Hey all. Now that my residency visa is going through I am teeing up with my Dad to send some of my Handtools over from the UK. Rather than send over my whole toolbox, I'm just going to get him to pick out my a few things such as my sockets, spanners and gauges, clean them and box them up to send. I am looking at arranging a courier from my end, but I was wondering about customs declarations and import duty etc. I have done some digging and from what I've picked up as they are my tools already it should be pretty straight forward. has anyone had any experience with this? Thankyou.
  8. Thanks for all your reply's guys. Waiting is defiantly the answer for sure, I am just being very impatient knowing that financially we are almost good to go. :-)
  9. I've not really had much to comment so far on this thread, just taking a back seat and reading the comments. Congratulations to everyone who got granted their PR in the late Christmas influx. Hope everyone has a great Christmas, what an exiting year 2016 is going to be for the rest of us!
  10. I second Moneycorp. They have always been brilliant.
  11. Hey guys, we are currently on a 457, with our BVA starting in Early Jan, Our 186 Residency application only got submitted last week, and is going to take until at least the middle of next year. We have been renting now for the past 4 or so years, and financially speaking we are very nearly in a position to purchase a property. I was wondering if anyone had any experience in regards to getting a home loan on a BVA. I know that we a legally in a position to borrow money, but I would imagine lenders would be very reluctant to lend out. The sensible part of me is saying keep on saving until your 186 is granted then go aheaf, but I have to admit we are climbing the walls living in somebody elses fully furnished unit.
  12. Hey guys, been a while since I've been on. I joined the 186 waiting club yesterday with both my application and nomination being lodged on December 15th. It's been quite a journey, from us arriving on a working holiday back in 2011, 'just to see what happens', to now us applying to become residents. I'm applying as a Boilermaker, and it's being processed at the Parra office. Here we go :-)
  13. I sent all our paperwork to our agent today. Exiting. What a mad journey this has been over the past 4 and a half years :-)
