  1. You would think so, but basically they are validating that you are entitled to the points you claim. For instance, let's say someone had a medical degree, and got properly assessed as a physician. Let's say that person also worked at a hospital. However, for some reason this person with a medical degree was a janitor at the hospital for three years and doesn't have the points to pass the test. He submits his pay stubs, which might not list his position, as proof of work experience. Now, I know that's not likely to be the case, but there may be situations like that where they want to make sure you're entitled to the points you're claiming. Many people haven't been asked for work verification, but it happens.
  2. I'm a July 2011 applicant, out of country. Are you a type 175 or an 885? If you're an 885, they're already up to 30 May 2011. In-country applicants seem to be staying about 5-6 months ahead of out-of-country on CO allocation. If you're a type 175, then you'll probably want to wait until they're a month or two away from August. June was a very "fat" month for applications since a lot of people tried to get in under the old points system. Basically, when I see they're allocating June 2011 applicants, I'll schedule meds. Technically, you take a risk until they're requested, but I feel comfortable making the move at that time. I'll have to travel a few hundred miles to get them done, so I'll need some time to plan for that trip. I live in the US, and those checks from the FBI takes two to three months, so I'm probably looking at ordering Police checks in a month or two. I'm looking to make the move fairly soon after I get my grant, so I'm not too worried about them expiring.
  3. DIAC seems to be moving along nicely. Just going by this site and others, they are firmly into granting COs for February applicants. While the update may say an earlier date, there are a lot of Feb 2011 applicants getting COs. I'm a July applicant, so I've got my fingers crossed that I'll have a CO by February or so. That would fit in with my schedule nicely...
  4. Just wondering..., what forum was that? I'm always looking for new places to obsess over the tiniest bit of migration information.
  5. Eh, I can't believe he was a cat 5. First off, there are a lot of other cat 5s who applied before 2010, some quite a bit before 2010. Second, most IT people can qualify for an assessment in a Cat 4 job and/or get state sponsorship somewhere. Beyond that, if they're following the rules, then they can't be processing cat 5. There are still cat 4s who don't have COs. Cat 5s can't be allocated until all cat 4s are taken care of. I haven't heard of a rules change. Most likely, his job either moved into a new category, OR he actually was cat 4.
  6. It is my sincere hope that you're right Tania since I am in Cat 4, but I also remember a bunch of people got an email awhile back stating they would have a CO by June and some haven't gotten it yet. That said, if they're increasing their ability to process applications (possibly by hiring more COs), then this might be happening. Lets keep our fingers crossed for everyone's sake!
