  1. Well said, I have noticed this in the school my kids go to. If its not sport (and in NSW they do sport every thursday ) the teacher may not be teaching there class due to being away on camp. My son came home from school 3 weeks ago to say he had one lesson at 12.15. Why I ask because the teachers that are maent to teach me are at a swimming event. Just what I won't to hear when my son as got his HSC next month.
  2. Well this Lady lives in Perth I also know a few other people who live there, I have friends that live all over Oz what with my Hubby being in the armed forces we meet people from everywhere. Also being told by a few of my Aussie friends that the education is better in the UK I'm sorry if I have upset you, but I'm saying it as I see it. And with having put three kids through schools in the UK and Australia, I think I have a right to my opinion..
  3. Sorry but I was only talking to my husband two day ago about this. The education all over Oz is a total let down. I thought I had stepped into a 3rd world counrty, The work my kids where given when we arrived was a joke, they had all done it 2 years before in the UK. My kids found it very hard to settle in school because the work was so old. I have a Aussie friend whos kids all went to private school and she told me that the private schools are just like our public schools in the UK that are free. This lady has said shes a teacher so knows what shes talking about.. I feel for you Im not settled in OZ I live in Sydney been here 4 years, if it was'nt for my kids I would go home, I had a good life there aswell... I really hope that you and ur husband can sort this out, but I would also do what my heart is telling me. Once your kids are settled it makes life impossible to move
  4. We have Ambulance extra, Air, sea and land, because my kids do water storts and other sports. You can only claim so much back towards having braces, My sons teeth cost me 7000 dolars and I got about 1000 back in total.. It covers you for a few others things aswell you need to look into it.... I do not beleive in giving these people y money when u dont need to. My son broke his hand and also had to have stitches in his arm, all free. Hes been taken to hospital a few times with whiplash due to playing rugby all treatment was free. 1 of my daughters was in a car accident, loads of brain scans, all free, (she was fine by the way). I got rushed to hospital at 4 in the morning I had a blood clot in my stomach, was kept in hospital for 4 nights, I didnt pay a cent.. They really looked after me. My daughter have to have her tonsils out, we had to go on the waiting list, we told them we would take something at short notice, 2 months she waited not bad. My aussie friend is having a baby she does'nt need any other cover. I personally would only get the Ambulance exrta cover, I dont think u need anything else.... Hope this hepls

    Help please !!!

It is very expensive to have phones unlocked here in Australia, and most of the time they send them away and it will take at least a week. Get in done in the UK Anita
  8. I do have medical insurance but only for Ambulance cover thats the top one aswell, it covers me for land, sea and air ambulance, My kids play football, rugbuy and also surfs, so I wanted cover for all. If you need an ambo it will cost you between 400 and 700 dollars, I know I had to pay it once. It also covers u for eye tests, some dental work, I pay 48 dollars every 2 weeks. You really dont need it for anything else, its just like the NHS over here,2 of my daughter had car accidents and had to go to hospital, have to have xrays one had brain scans it never cost us a penny. They whee both fine aswell. My son needed sticthes he also broke is hand never cost a thing, he has aslo had whiplash from playing rugby everything was free.... I also had to go to hospital was in for 4 days with a blood clot in my tummy, everything was free and I was looked after very well. I didnt want to write so much but others will tell you different, as they want u to spend ur money when u dont need to.. Renting a house is not cheap in the shire. My husband is in the armed forcses so ts differnet for us. If you are renting you will only need contents insurance , the people that own the house should insure the own house. Im with Real insurance, and I pay for about 600 dollars a year, that also covers me for all of my jewellery, my very expensive camera, and thing over a 2000 dollars I had to get proof. It covers us for all our stuff we take out on our boat (some stuff the boat insurance does'nt cover us for) so that was a bonus lol. Make sure you get accidental cover a lot of them dont do it. We came over with a 40ft container full to the rim. so we have a lot of stuff... You might have to pay a little more or less depending on what your bringing.. Hope this helps Like I said I have written a lot but just wanted you to know that there are some things you dont need and dont be scared into getting it. People are always here to help on these sites Anita
  9. Thats a lot of money ours are about 600 each with AAMI one 3.4 and the other 3 litre, Have you tried Real insurance for your house I was with AAMI but they didnt do accidental cover, I thought they did utill my daughters computer screen broke.. Real do accidental cover and they where about the same price.. Just some info I would share, we all need to know where we can get a good deal, Like you I think they make it up at the time lol.
  10. Hi can I asked u who ur insurance is with for ur cars and is that for the two of them ? I have two cars 4x4s and a brand new boat, paid cash for the lot. I dont pay know where near that much for my insurance for my cars..We are with Aami , I just wondered thats all. The rest is about right Gas is about 120 dollars every 3 months, for a 4 bed house... Hope you dont mind me asking Anita
  11. Hi I live in the shire and love it here. I was told that the shire starts once to come over captain cook bridge and, if coming the other way then it just after Menia.. BuT thats another story. It all depends what you want if you want good rail links then I would live somewhere like Cronulla, Caringbah, Miranda, Gymea or Kirrawee all on the train line to the city, 45 to 50 mins from Cronulla. You also have great beaches and parks in the area, about a 10 min drive from Kirrawee or just get on the train.. There are some good schools in all of those areas. I Caringbah for the last 4 years with 3 teenage kids, and they call this there home now.. If you need to kow anything else just ask, always willing to help.. Good luck with it all Anita
  12. I dont know anything about business account but we have been with HSBC for 25 years in England and another 4 years in OZ and I love them,, sorry but I have yet to find a good bank in oz. Good luck
  13. Please dont come to Sydney I dont think u would like it here, it is a lot more expensive I have lived here 4 years. I don't think anywhere in Australia is cheap. I cannot understand how you spend so much money on food, my family of 5 adults (I class my 3 teenage kids as adults) do not spend that much money its scary to think u spend that. I think a lot of people reading feel sick that someone who earns a good bit of money is finding it hard and that you go to bed hungry. Reading all the cooments on here I think everyone is saying the same, you need to cut back a bit ,buy the cheaper things, if you keep living to your standards then I;m very sorry but I dont think you will last long anywhere in Australia... I'm not stupid has you pointed out to someone else on here. I thought was very rude. No one else seems to go hungry on this page, so I would say we can't all be wrong so soething must be very wrong somewhere I really hope you and you family settle soon , and GOOD LUCK YOU WILL NEED IT
  14. Hi and welcome. I would think very hard about moving to Sydney, Its a lot more expensive here for a lot of things. Renting a house a lot of my friends rent houses here and they live in shoe boxes but like me they want to live by the beach, most rented places by the sea are going to cost at 800 to 900 a week. Then you have to travel to the city thats not just the petrol thats the time factor, it take 50 mins to get to the city everday and then you have to walk to your place of work when getting off the train, its a long day at work living here in Sydney. I spend about 400 dollars a week on food and I have 3 teenage kids that eat a lot of food. I have a lot of friends and family that live in Prth and they all say its a lot cheaper there than here. I hope things get better for you....
  15. You are right in saying that Cronulla is the only beach suburb in Sydney with a train Station, but its a fast way into the city, you will always get a seat, and they are busy during the week rather then weekends and holidays,,,, I have never not been able to get a seat.... The buses take forever by the way...
  16. I have to agree with you. Its a nice area but Its not where I would want to live. It doesnt take long to get to the city from Caringbah, or to the airport. Also not to sure where the train station is, I know its not in walking distance
  17. Hi I live in Caringbah been here nearly 4 years. Its about a five min drive from Cronulla. We would'nt live anywhere else. We where told about this place b4 we moved to OZ by an Aussie. We came here 1st and looked around I fell in love it. We went to Manley, and other places but they didnt do it for us. We have some of the best surfing baches around, full of young and old people. Loads of place to eat and drink. And like everyone els has said the train on your doorstep. 50 mins to the city. Best of both worlds. I have 3 teenage kids 17, 18 and 19 and they have made great friends. Look up the beaches and the places you cant help but love it. If you need to know anything else just ask. And GOOD LUCK Anita
