OOOh this is so confusing. I have may visa money in an ISA now I am thinking should I move it or leave it where it is, It will be a year or two till I need it. So I wiill keep watching the posts Thanks for an informative site Moira:arghh:

Thank you Joanne its so nice to know people want to help. I sometimes feel slightly isolated as friends cant really understand what it feels like when my family is on the other side of the world and thats where I want to be. And of course if I discuss my doubts with them they are biased as they want me to stay. I am not sure whether to sell my flat or rent if for a year, I feel by renting it I may not make a real commitment to live in Australia, friends think I should keep it in case I want to come back. Would love to hear other peoples thoughts. Anyway I am just starting the process so plenty of time for that decision Moira

I am relieved to hear others have the same worries as me. I actually applied for a 173 in 09. I had to go over to Oz last year in a hurry as my son was diagnosed with cancer, I stayed for 2mths and was very homesick so I cancelled my application, I have now changed my mind and want to live out there so I am applying again. I didnt realise that going for a 103 would have kept me on the list. I have a question about the 173, when I apply for permanent residence do you know if the second payment is the payment that is stated now or will it be an increased payment. My son has recovered after a years treatment but there is a 40% chance it will return another reason to be over them with him Thank you

Hi there I am about to apply for a CPV 173. I read in an earlier post about applying on shore, I take it this means while in Oz. If I went out on a tourist visa could I then apply from Oz, does anybody know what would happen when the tourist visa ran out?
