  1. I came across a few posts from 2010 saying that people were having issues with mortgage lenders insurance and getting their mortgage on a PR ens 856 as they didnt recognise it as a PR visa. This has concerened me as we are currently buying and only putting up just over 5% deposit so will need this insurance. is this still the case? Thanks
  2. Hi we have never owned a home in Australia but have in the UK. Do we qualify for first home buyers concession or does it take in account all over the world... Some sites say in the world and some in Australia, so unsure. thanks
  3. Hi all. We are just starting the process of buying a home. Does anyone have any recommendations for a conveyancer or solicitor for the legal purchase? We are southside Brisbane.. Pm me if you cannot name on here Thanks so much Natx
  4. keep safe all xxx friends of mine on the otherside of the city have water pouring into their garage and home It shows no signs of stopping and is set to get worse... we have very heavy rain here. Garden is water logged but house is OK.
  5. Bathed the kids when we first came but we rarely use the bath now, its easier, fresher and cleaner in the heat to shower. I occaisonally have a hot bath if its cold but yes, they are tiny here..
  6. Havent experienced it really in QLD. Had one comment by a nurse and DD had a comment in her old junior school, but that was about it. There are a lot of different cultures in Brissie. We are white British and my daughter mixes with mainly Aussies, but my sons friends are Asian(chinese) Australian and Serbian and his first girlfriend was Serbian.
  7. I would of reported it If I had witnessed it. I cannot believe it would legal anywhere to hit a child with an object and also to leave marks. I disagree strongly with smacking but hitting on purpose with a spoon and a baby who is 2, is disgusting and unacceptable. "When a child hits a child, we call it aggression. When a child hits an adult, we call it hostility. When an adult hits an adult, we call it assault. When an adult hits a child, we call it discipline." — Haim G. Ginott

    Do you?

No. I once read a article about the professional places and it put me off LOL, wouldn't use one now. It's also a luxury expense we cannot afford on one wage. its always nice being pampered though
  9. I dont get the sausage issues LOL, I have actually started eating them lately here, the ones we get are yummy, disliked them in the UK. only thing I miss is my family..

    Humidity

This last week, its been really humid. I feel wet, its dripping down my forehead and back and my skin feels like I just got out the shower. Nights are fine, air con is key
  11. I was mid 30's and hubby 42 when we moved here
  12. I dont do chemicals as much as possible so use a lot of mineral. A person I know started a range and is now in magazines/photo shoots for her makeup and hoping to expand here and doing well. I did buy a lot of bare minerals in The UK too, so hoping family ship it over for me when I run out! I also use Lavera and some from the health shop.I also dont like all the moisturiser and toner rubbish they try to sell you, good old coconut oil here

    Your bed?

We paid around $1500 for our king mattress and frame less than 2 yrs ago and HATE the mattress. It was a middle of the range ortho mattress and we hate it. We were on memory foam previously. We are going to save for a latex one asap, but buying a home is more important at the moment.
  14. We had two months to pack up and relocate, the house did not sell in that time frame. We had no choice but to rent. We actually ended up auctioning from australia, as the house market took a dip and we walked away with nothing.
  15. Relocation, we just had to pay for shipping our stuff and money to bring, we added extra on our UK mortgage for that. otherwise, would of been impossible for us.
  16. Mmm maybe, will have to check the big west fields.. They def haven't had it for weeks at the 2 local woollies, I asked after weeks of not even seeing a space on the shelves and they said they Are no longer stocking it. I looked in Coles many times but they never seem to have it. It's the only decent one too.
  17. I make stock all the time, the kids prefer the gravy granules, sadly. I use all the stock making soup, we wouldnt have enough for gravy too either... I amke it in the slow cooker, you need vinegar to help leach the good stuff from the bones and to let cook for 24 hrs, dont like adding herbs or wine to it, rather make the base so we can use it for soups i amke it weekly/every other week and wouldnt have enough for my greedy kids and gravy! we do add a little too the granules though, as well as the chicken juices..
  18. thanks, we have a few IGA's nearby will go look, Woolies has stopped supplying it, I asked yesterday and looked in coles today, not even a slot for it
  19. Woolies have huge tubs of quality street at the front right now... I am pretty sure they are less than $15 a tin .
  20. we dont have that aisle in any of our woolies will have to go look at the big ones in the Westfields, would love Bisto, now we are struggling to get Greens gravy.
  21. we use these single ones for every brew as DH drinks black tea and I dont. great for single cups
  22. tea bags are usually older and stale. fresh tea leaves from a decent tea shop are MUCH nicer
  23. We are REALLY struggling to get this gravy, It tastes as good as Bisto, but just lately they have all stopped selling it
  24. Also agree. we use the leaves, teabags are awful..
