Hi there, My parents have their application in for visa sub-class 143 and wish to withdraw it and and apply for the 804 instead. Do you know if they can do this? They applied for the 143 off-shore and want to apply for the 804 on-shore while they are here. Has anyone successfully managed to do this? Also, if they are granted the 804 do you know if they can come and go as they please whilst waiting, or do they have to stay outside of Australia? And will they be covered under medicare on an 804? Yes sorry I called it Bridging by mistake. Do we know how much they cost and can they live here whilst they are waiting for the 143 to come through?

Hmmmmm...I'm thinking it might be best to stick at it and wait for the 143 to be granted(fingers crossed). I wonder if this new bridging visa due to come out in July will allow them to come and temporarily stay here while they are waiting for their 143 to be granted?

But while they are waiting am I right in saying they can live here?

Hi there, We applied for a Contributory Parent Visa (subclass 143) in December 2015. Recently we have been toying with the idea of changing our application to a Parent Visa (subclass 103). I'm not sure what the consequences would be or even if it's possible. Has anyone done this before? If so do you have any advice you can share? Are there any people people out there whose parents are here on a 103? If so are there any restraints they have had to face? Looking forward to hearing from you soon. Thanks

Hi there, We've been led to believe that the coastline SOR is not as appealing as NOR. Is it true that it is very industrial in places and not as pleasing to the eye in some places? We wanted to know if there are any parts that are non-industrial that anyone could recommend to us? We do not want to rule the south out as we are concentrating on the north at the mo, but a nice coastline not too far away from home is one of our priorities. Any recommendations, thoughts, opinions would be much appreciated?s Cheers

Aiden's is the 6th :smile: We're staying in a holiday let for the 1st 6 weeks in East Victoria park, during which time we'll be frantically looking, north and south for a good school and a long term let. We're emigrating in a few weeks and as soon as we get over the jetlag we're going to be looking for areas to find a long term rental in with a good primary school. When we were over for 2 weeks last year to validate our visas, we didn't get the chance to explore NOR. I don't know why but Woodvale appeals to me because of it's locality near the train station (to get into the CBD), beaches and it has a number of primary schools too (but i'm not sure what they are like). We have 2 young boys aged 7 and 5 and just wanted to know if it's a good area? Any thoughts/opinions on this and surrounding areas would be welcome (good or bad), to help us locate good areas to research when we arrive. Thank you x

Thanks Lorraine i'll get them ordered I think. We're doing the same thing. Have a holiday let near CBD for 6weeks. Hoping this will be enough to secure a long term rental, schools etc etc. All the best. If you get the chance, let me know how you get on once your there!! Hi there, Our container is arriving on 16th September and one of the pre-move items is to remove existing plugs ??? We're taking adapters so wonder why they are asking us to do this? Was anyone in the same boat asked to do this by any chance? If so, did you remove your plugs? Thank you. :cool:

Thanks Quinkla, It was such a long time that I applied but which form are you referring to when you say the following : "My guess is that your friend answered on the form that she had no convictions. The police search indicates that there is something on the system. Therefore, your friend should probably complete the form for additional information explaining that the No Live Trace refers to a warning - i.e. not a conviction - and give details of the circumstances including an admission of guilt and a sentence saying sorry. Also, it should explain that it was not declared on the original form as it was not a conviction." As it was only a caution at the time she'd completely forgotten about it and it never even occurred to her to mention it. Would this have been mentioned on the actual visa application form or somewhere else? Thanks again.

Hi there, My colleague has her visa application in and I'm asking this question on her behalf. She received the results for her police checks this morning and it came back with "No Live Trace". She was given a minor verbal warning 10 years back but doesn't have a criminal record. Does this mean a visa will definately not be granted? Is there anybody that had this on their police checks? What was your outcome please? Thanks for your time.
