Hi Leanne , I've got lads at the moment but I'm always taking on more jobs , the work situation is very good here at the moment . Im based in Redcliffe on the Northside of Brisbane and most work is local . Have you got a date your arriving in Aus yet ? Cheers Mick

Carpenters wanted North Brisbane , Redcliffe . Ongoing work for right people. PM for details .

Good on the customers and good on the guy for calling it out. ,proving australia is not the racist hell hole some like to imagine . If I was the guy i'd open a Brazilian themed coffee bar , make the most of the publicity and watch business flourish .

Beautiful country and considered it , but the house prices in relation to wages was far too great . I'd love to semi retire there and open a guest house in Wanaka .

id say that the uk container death is very relevant to the boat deaths considering both were looking for better lives , taken advantage of by unscrupulous smugglers interested only in money . I also find positive stories much better than detriment . Again I don't see the hate campas you describe them. Opinions based on their thoughts and facts the way they see them. Carrot and stick , the carrot to me was that story .

Nope , still about three and a half years in total. Plus the possibility the wait might be longer or at all as the skills list changed after I'd paid all my money .luckily I passed the English test for additional points . Then the extra payments and even at one time being told my baby might not be allowed in on a holiday visa , as he'd no intent on returning to the uk , at 3 months old . Evil regime that labour one was I tell ya .

pretend openness ? There's plenty here that can get there point across with out abuse , as for haters. Only one I can see , not sure if he's a genuine hater or escapee. I still don't believe that Sri Lanka is a genuine source of asylum seekers . And still no evidence posted as I've asked before ,does that make me a hater. ? . No wonder they're digging in, are they supposed to be bullied into changing their minds ? You and harpo are hardly coming across as ambassadors of diplomacy are you. People have genuine concerns over the validity , number and conditions of travel . Take the case of the afghan Sikhs in the uk container. One dead. , should the smuggler be given medals for helping them to sanctuary or prosecuted for manslaughter ? Under your rules they'd be heroes wouldn't they. ?

Every time I read one of these threads , I start with an open mind and sympathy for boat people and the children. Then I read the same people deriding opposing views , name calling and questioning of intellects . The suposed good/ nice guys do little for their cause when they resort to that level of debate. I'm righteous , your an idiot . do you really believe you can alter people's points of view by treating them as simpletons ? when was the last time any of the ' good guys ' wrote to their MP or organised a protest outside the Indian embassy to put pressure on a more local solution ? How about a march to get all those other countries to sign up to the resolution ? My own personal view , no children shouldn't be locked up on camps , even if that camp is better or safer than where they left . And they'd be better off with their parents out as well . I'd grant temporary work / resident visas . The problem of course is that they'd be a hell of a lot more boats coming . There are over a billion people in the world who would be better off in tent in a camp . Luckily notmany can afford the people smuggling route .

Australia's detention regime sets out to make asylum seekers suffer

You misunderstand , the scientist believe in climate change, but there is a sizeable element that believe the cooling of the seas from melting ice caps could lead to ice age conditions in parts of Europe that benefit from the warm streams . I listened to a program before explaining why the uk is warmer than it should be geographically. . It's interesting stuff , many views on the effects . -

Didn't Obama say much the same thing about Scotland ? Are world leaders now to keep their mouths shut over all foriegn affairs , or maybe only if they're assisting in emergency aid drops or crash investigation. The one sided blinkered vision , especially from these liberal folk never fails to amaze me. Maybe unhappiness in their own lives drives them to seek out targets for their vitriol . -
I wasn't comparing the bnp with the snp , more the way people describe ukip as little englanders , ukip wants to restore power to the uk and the people who live there , where ever they may originate from , religion and so on. Yes , it probably would change the entry rules , but only in line with non EU nationalities. Is the Scottish vote open to all residents of Scotland or is there a time in residence criteria ?i do believe that any party formed to call for English independence would be branded racist by at least a sizeable minority .

Do you think the government pretends there's off shore detention centres just to upset lefties ? I reckon you need to find an Indian psychiatrist . -

That doesn't mean you have wish for the sinking of boats with children on , I doubt they've ever done anything seriously wrong or fully understand the situation they're in. I hope you never need the services of an Indian doctor , would you refuse it. ? -
Not necessarily the greasy pole , but most would want better pay to provide an improved lifestyle for their family. A $17,000 tax bill , loss of rent allowance of $100 a week , reduction in child care benefit , extra Medicare and loss of other perks left me about $70 a week better off . Lesson learnt , now a trust fund that splits income with the mrs knocks over 70% off the tax bill , new vehicles in the company name and a few other alterations from the accountant . I don't suppose employed people can benefit like that. A government tax system should encourage people to do better , educate and upgrade them selves with out overly penalising them .

I think he's great . Warmth , a sense of humour and a great philosopher -
Why is it only English ' nationalist ' parties that are 'racist. ' the Scottish national party . It's own people it's priority , no claims of racism by anyone else . As for Australian politics , it needs a party that will represent the normal working person. I was chatting to some one yesterday about wages . I worked out that some one earning $42000 with one child and the rent subsidy , child benefit , nursery discount, medical discounts and tax bill is as well off as some one earning $80,000 after all those considerations. That seems crazy to me and is no incentive for people to take a step up the ladder . not sure if or who I would vote for when Im able to . I've chatted to a liberal politician and was gob smacked by their stupidity and hypocrisy . Can't ever seeing my voting for labour .

Id describe only being able to marry your cousin as social engineering . Of course you should be able to marry within your own or any culture but it should not be compulsory , or result in threats , injury , ostracisation or death as so often has been the case . That clearly isn't the case in certain ethnic enclaves in the uk . It's a superiority thing . You seem to be contradicting yourself , free thought if you think like me . Would you still let some one in if they had racist thoughts but didn't practice them? I don't understand the multi cultural utopia you seem to be grasping at . True it would be boring if we were all the same but I wouldn't dismiss living any where because it was too white , too british or too white australian . I'm quite happy to say " this is a nice place , it's by the sea. " regardless of its ethnicity . but I do miss a good curry house ! -

Quid pro quo , Latin allways works so well to suppress the minions and elude an air of superiority over the fools who disagree. Unless you helped your 12 year old to Latin homework . -

And they must be fools if they don't agree with you harpo , why don't you just put the world on ignore . Then you can spend hour after hour agreeing with yourself untainted by ignorance .
