  1. Thanks Jars - really my head is swimming with all we have to achieve in the next few months- good to hear you didn't have a problem what do you think swung it if anything?
  2. That's exactly what is going through my mind, I have suspected that it will feel quite normal after a few weeks, to be back although I hope to feel more at home than I have done for the last 4. Dreading the financial change though and we too have only been away since 2009. I think you are wise to weather the financial storm in Oz, which is also a part of my thinking currently to be honest with a view to then to see what the landscape is like in a few years after we have had a good go at settling properly. I really would like to think we could make it a forever move this time, just wish it was a £10 ticket for us instead of the £1000s it took to move over and then back again but hey no regrets at least we are in position to have a choice.
  3. Just wanted to hear the good and the bad really - last time we felt like we were visitors as we were on a 457 and dependent on employer sponsorship. Although I didn't want to and wouldn't have changed jobs I think the temporary status permeates your work relationships especially if you experience any conflict. I also felt like we couldn't put down roots- this time we are permanent residents and we will give it a good go. But never say never and you do what is right for you. Thanks for sharing CAM sounds like you have given it a good go each time.
  4. Hi we have friends who have lived there years and there have been few problems - i think they are planning eventually to have a police station there too. there are some less nice areas like in any area you go to. We didn't experience any probs and we were there for a year but things can change. I would still go back
  5. cheers we are going on 22nd a few days before you - we are looking south of the river we liked living in Secret Harbour before but we would be happy with Port Kennedy or Golden Bay etc too, what about you have you decided where you want to be yet? although they say it is difficult have yet to hear of someone totally unable to get somewhere.
  6. Thanks for your replies. Can see your point Galahad, we are going before them to get set up its such a worry though when you here the stories about lack of dog walking and so on.
  7. Hi Bob lots of questions -we are shipping two female GSP'S aged 6 and a three year old cat. We are just at the start of the process of getting them already. We ideally would like a miracle to happen to allow all three to spend just 10 days in quarantine as one of our dogs has experienced enough separation in her life and our cat is very nervous of everything (except birds mice and spiders) - we tried asking our vet but they had little knowledge. They are all having boosters at the moment so how long after these could they feasibly have the rabies vac? We will end up moving a little ahead of them and they will stay at home with my adult children so no worries about them not being ready for may when we move. Are dogs allowed to go in joint cages? and is it true that they cant be given anything to help them sleep through the flight? :jiggy:
  8. Hi guys don't know if any looks at this thread much these days-hope the move is going well for those of you who are already over there. this is just a quick update, we have got our flights booked for mid May and also I have had a firm job offer to start in June. I hear the housing situation in Perth is tight - any tips? whoop whoop!
  9. Hi this is a question for those of you who have ping-ponged - that is gone through the process of moving to Australia then going home then returning to Australia. How did you find it moving for the second time? - did you experience the process the same as before or was it less or more exciting. Have you any tips? We moved over on a temp visa a few years ago but returned as needed at home. We are now moving back - when we moved back we knew we wanted to go back but we didn't expect it to end up being such a mammoth fight with Diac putting applications on hold etc and changing the goal posts. As a realist and having learnt from experience I still expect to get home sickness bouts but nothing can be as bad as having had your life on hold, which is what we feel since we left. What bothers me the most though is looking through rose tinted specs - we know it will be different from last time things are sorted and we will be permanent so independent form relying on an employer too- what worked for you?
  10. What a great way to start the New year :notworthy:congratulations roys!!!!
  11. that article is dated 20th Jan 2012- oh dear he got it wrong then?
  12. if you check the MARA number on google typing MARA then the number you will find it links to a different company listed on the australian govt site which does not make sense!
  13. When I applied for oz it did ask if I had ever had a visa cancelled or refused I think but I cant remember if this was just for OZ- As this is a forum for Australia it may be that you are better off asking on a forum for people moving to Canada- I would have thought that it is likely they will ask and of course it is always better to be totally honest about why it was cancelled if that is the case.
  14. Congratulations Lara24:laugh::jiggy::biggrin: that's great news! And great also to hear of the new May Gang arrival's in the Land of OZ-so envious given the weather here but so pleased for you all thanks for keeping us updated everyone
  15. I have just picked up on this thread and have loved hearing of your journey back and the mix of emotions and new perceptions as a visitor that you describe. It is wonderful to hear how you are looking with new eyes-I am going to be a ping pong pom and move back to Oz next year and can tell you that since we got back in 2009 I still can't get used to how lovely the country side is and how it can all change in just a 30 minute car ride or the choice in the shops. Glad you are enjoying it- I remember when you posted you were leaving for Perth, time flies so fast . Looking forward to hearing how it feels to get back to Perth too.
  16. Good news NYC glad you got there safe- even with a break I find the flight a total killer. Sounds like you are already feeling great vibes. Feeling so frustrated as a friend of mine has just moved over - got her rental in two weeks and catching up with her pals and we cant get over until next year- and that may be for a validation trip only - just want to be getting on with our new life- however having done it in a rush last time we are not going to this time around. Big patient sigh!
  17. http://www.ielts.org/test_takers_information/what_is_ielts/special_needs.aspx extra time for reading and writing is given you have to let them know when you book it good luck
  18. Nishi I am so sad for you this is horrible news I think that you need to take advice from a Mara registered agent to see if you can appeal the decision on any grounds. would you be able to meet the new points test and launch a new application at all? good luck hun
  19. Congrats on getting your PR- what a journey for you - look forward to hearing about your move- not long now and the weather will be glorious
  20. it is sounding really good and that every thing has been met they still need to do the checking for your employment history and then you should get the email to go for police history and medicals - they will probably just ring your employers and so on to check the tasks you carried out- good luck with it all
  21. Have you joined the May group if you click on the above tab 'groups' on the same line as forum etc it takes you to the group for everyone in the May team to join to keep in touch
  22. Congratulations Yahoo! Sh3p69. :laugh:So pleased for you, what a wait! Celebrations all week then
  23. Next week it is then congrats on movement at last! wahoooooo
  24. http://www.vetassess.com.au/migrate_to_australia/qa2_points_test_advice.cfm#1 At the moment it says it is an optional opinion on the Vetassess site- where did you get this information I suppose if it comes from one of the more esteemed migration agents on this site then I would take this is right, but if not I would treat it with caution and I would also double check DIACs information.
