1. Hi everyone, We moved from the UK to WA just over 6 years ago and settled in the Northern suburbs of Perth, Duncraig to be exact where we stayed for 3 years before making the move to the South West. It is lovely down here but can be boring with not a lot going on and I think the main reason I haven't settled is the lack of friends, and I hate to say it " English" people who actually are on the same wavelength as me, you know people who you can have a good old belly laugh with :-) I am not homesick that's for sure I haven't wanted to go back to the UK at all I love Australia and am proud to be a citizen I just want to feel settled. Originally we had intended to go to Brisbane or Gold Coast but just after we had been sent for medicals there were major changes to visa processing times and SOL lists so we had to gain last minute State Sponsorship hence the reason we ended up in WA (somewhere we had never even visited before) !! Anyway back to my point, now after a couple more visits back to QLD on holidays I can't help thinking we should make the move again. WA is just so isolated and I just don't feel truly settled even after 6 years. Has anyone done the same ?? Thanks in advance :-)
 2. Thank you - we all good thanks. Yes finally decided to make the move, just too busy in Perth for us. Haven't really settled, even though made some fab friends, it's just not home so decided on Busselton we have spent lots of time down there and really like it - also near Margaret River for Josh as he loves to surf there. My Sister moved to Bunbury few months ago so we will be closer to her too. Just need to find a house now as we are going to build so won't be finished for at least a year.
 3. Hi we are a family of 5 looking for a nice family home in Busselton area. Children will be attending Georgiana Molloy School. Minimum of 4x2 required must have garage and off road parking for 2 vehicles. We have impeccable rental references and secure employment history. Moving from Perth late December / January. If anyone knows of any houses your help is greatly appreciated too. Tina.
 4. Hey all, anyone in Perth area just moved and have boxes and or wrapping paper they want rid of? We are on the move again mid December any offers greatly appreciated. Please PM me. Tina
 5. Also can a contributory parent visa be lodged onshore in any circumstances with a bridging visa option to stay ? My parents are currently onshore on a 1 year tourist visa which is due to expire shortly.
 6. After receiving conflicting info from dept immigration call centre I am wondering if anyone can help ? I am perm resident my sister has been living in Australia 2 years she has a defacto visa bridging and currently waiting for the temporary visa to be granted she won't have perm status for up to a further 2 years. My parents are wanting a parent visa willing to pay for contributory parent visa. Between me and my sister we have 4 children - their only grandchildren. We also have a brother who is single no kids and lives in UK. First we were told that because my sister had been living here 2 years on a working holiday visa she was classed as living in Australia and our parents could apply immediately for their parent visa we have since been told my sister had to have been granted her permanent residency before our parents can apply. Not sure what is the truth now ??

 8. Hi all, started looking into options for my parents but getting confused with lots of conflicting information. Would be really grateful if someone could give us the lowdown - here is our situation. Me and my family (hubby and kids) are permanent residents and migrated almost 2 years ago 3 months after I arrived my younger sister came to join me on a working holiday visa - she is currently on her 2nd year which was granted - she has settled with an Australian Citizen boyfriend with whom she has been living with for over a year now and has just given birth to their first and only child. They have just lodged a defacto visa prior to planning their wedding next year. My parents are currently in Australia on a 1 year tourist visa which expires in June 2012 - they have all their grandchildren in Australia now my three and my sisters newborn and dont want to leave obviously. Are we right in thinking they cannot apply for a contributory parent visa as only I am permanent resident at the present time and as we have a brother in the UK they dont meet the balance of family test ? Does it make any difference that my sister has lodged an application and has a newborn ? If they leave the country in June is there much likelihood they could apply straight away for another long stay tourist visa ? They have proof of funds to support themselves and they currently live in a self contained annexe within my sister and her partners own home. Is there any other visa my parents can apply for? Mum is 58 and Dad 60. We have been speaking to a few people who have said that they applied onshore and was allowed a bridging visa until there new application was granted. Then there are others who mention aged parent visa's. My parents current visa says no further stay which I am presuming means the onshore application would not be applicable for them. Arrggh I thought getting our visa was a headache but this is proving more confusing than ever. I have been trying to persuade them to seek advice from an Agent but Dad thinks he can just leave country apply for another long stay visa and come back couple weeks later I am worried it wont be that easy. Any advice most appreciated
 9.
hey just logged on here for first time in about 1 year. Seen your message asking on my opinion on places in perth. Did you enjoy your reccie ? Did you decide on a favourite spot ? It s so hard hey? We originally stayed in Kinross for 7 weeks on our arrival whilst deciding where to live -pretty much made our decision around schooling for the kids and spent ourfirst year in Northshore Kallaroo which was lovely but the owner decided to sell the house :-( we are now living in Duncraig which I like - its a quiet place but I hate the house (bit old and grotty butwas all we good get at the time due to increase in people renting around here) anyway we are now looking for somewhere in Carine as we love it there, son plays for soccer team there and I got the two youngest starting at Carine Primary after the current holidays - son had a bad incident at Springfield Primary Kallaroo and I wasnt happy with the way the head dealt with it so I pulled them out only last week.

 20.

Hi guys

Yes we finally were approved State Sponsorship - found out 9th July - it was approved on the 6th July. We are happy things are moving again - just pannicking now that we will have our visa granted before meds expire on the 15th Sept -

Started looking at flights and found a real bargain 3 adults (son is 12) and 2 children only £2050 quid so snapped it up - now really not sure I should have been so hasty, although they have gone up now, same flight £5000 when I looked yesterday - keep reassuring myself LOL We fly to Perth on the 12th Sept visa or no visa :goofy:

Oh well worse comes to worst at least we'll have a much needed holiday - just won't have any money left to redo the medicals !!!! Hows your plans going ???

kind regards

Tina

 21.
No worries - I think your thread is the only thing keeping me sane at the moment - it's brill to keep tabs on where everyone is at in their visa journeys.

 22.

Yes I just read their post - 5 weeks is fantastic hey - fingers crossed you follow suit...

You'll know if we hear anything I'll be shouting it from the roof tops LOL

 23.

Hi there,

No news yet - we still keeping our fingers tightly crossed !!!! Hows about you guys ??

 24.
We had a confirmation email with an application reference number sent to us nearly straight away after lodging online that was on the 17/03 so we will be in for a long wait too - it said in the confirmation email 4 - 6 weeks but I am guessing that will be more like 10 - 12 weeks anything before that is a bonus. I am starting to wonder why we decided to put ourselves through all this hassle and heartache. Other people seem to sail through the whole process get there visa sell their house just at the right time etc etc we are just unlucky I guess :-( . I am feeling sorry for myself today - blooming rain and wind not helping - all my little girl wants to do is go feed ducks ......... AARRRGGGHHH Bloody Britain.

 25.

Oh you poor things you would have been so excited and then the changes Oh what a nightmare....

Lets just keep our fingers crossed we will get to Oz eventually. Keep us updated hey we may end being neighbours one day
