Sea breeze

This is a bit of an outpouring We my husband and I are thinking seriously about moving back to Oz the end of the year. we have been back in the uk 10 years we have moved around a bit and currently live in lovely Cornwall. We both get decent pay I have a small business that’s doing well with lovely clients. This took a good few years to get to this stage. I’m concerned that we will be “ back to square one” and will have to work harder and longer we want to keep our house here and rent it out ( no pensions in uk) so we have to save up to head back. We are mid 40s now and I think it’s just hit me that it maybe a bit late to start again? we do like living here but the weather is a massive downfall and our leisure time is constantly compromised Is this enough reason to move back? We never gave it a proper go before, lived in share houses didn’t choose where just worked travelled then OH went up the mines I feel we might regret it if we don’t give it another go ! thank s

Also the healthcare is completely flooded and no community care availability

Sorry I don’t know your friend however walk about is still going it’s very built up now in Newquay , far from quiet in winter all the fields around the gannel are being built on all the way up the a30 to quintrell downs is being built on I think u would have a shock if u came back ! st Austell is where they are rehousing a lot of drug addicts so u can imagine how that’s going i interested in your health experience I had fantastic care when I got diagnosed with leukaemia over there however that was then the healthcare in Cornwall is awful and there’s literally no age in house care available I know this from people without work in community care, the population is increasing rapidly down here seems chaotic compared to a few years ago but nothing like up country…

It’s def all of the above but no longer dead in winter quiet yes but it’s nice actually got to the beach today sunny and mild however it’s howling wind and bucketing down with rain now I mean bucketing during winter it’s storm after storm

Not actually sure we have been over before looked at housing etc narre warren surrounding or Mornington ( I know it’s expensive) we lived at morrabin before for about 6 months maybe look at geelong I’m horsey so semi rural ideally

Cornwall Is lovely but u haven’t lived there the winters are long and wet, the summer cuts u off so many tourists u don’t get to enjoy anything really traffic is getting terrible Newquay is like a giant building site one estate has another 25 years of building 5,000 houses but no new rds drs etc

After 10 years of living in the UK 6 in Cornwall we are thinking of heading back to oz. Victoria During these 10 years we have consistently been thinking of getting back over there to give it a “proper go “ when we lived there before I ran a multiple occupancy house and my partner worked FIFO we also travelled and worked our way around I feel we can have a bettter life back over there but we are well set up here what’s changed since we left ? I feel it may not be as easy as it was know this is vague but any comments welcome thank u

I got diagnosed with Leukaemia when I lived in Oz my white blood levels where undetectable after a year on medication, that’s as good as I’m going to get health wise back here ( uk) they never really stabilised and have got to worryingly high levels a Chinese accupuncturist said leukaemia thrives in damp conditions I live in one of the wettest areas in the uk so be interesting to see if anything changes wen I’m back in Oz !

That was a longtime ago and tbh the circumstances will be very different this time no more working up the mines and house sharing for a start and definitely no more living in Perth! we were young wen we moved originally and by the time we left I actually wanted to stay I was half way thru a degree for a start ...

Hi you guys sound like us we spent 6 years in Oz and have been back for 6 years. I guess u feel like us that there is little future here, I would definitely give it a crack ur not too old to move and if u can get a visa go for it! we are 42 and hoping to be back Oct/ nov

Thank u all some interesting points so far I wil definitely be taking winter wear ! That caught us out the first time we moved we started in Perth and it rained for 28 days straight, I had to ask my mom to send jeans socks etc over as NAB bank had kindly lost our new bank cards ( it wasn’t the best start) although that was a travel/ live type of experience which lasted 6years and we have been back twice since so we are familiar with everything we don’t have much decent furniture tbh we have always lived temporarily unfortunately and are going to rent out our house as part of a pension pot we will prob end up with a load of Kmart specials again !

Hi haven’t posted on Poms for a lifetime! but was just looking due to the current Covid situation we also moved from Oz 5 years ago have lived in Cornwall for the last months absolutely love it here but do miss some things in Oz we ended up spending the last 3 years in Perth with my partner up the mines. I actually wanted to move over east coast but he had had enough... we are now seriously wondering if we may have to go back to Oz as the work situation is going to be awful and Oz usually bounces back quickly unlike the uk we are duel citizens too

Hi buzzy Thank you for that not heard of thAt area I will look into it fly out tonite so will be over in couple of days (2 day stop indubai) really looking forward to going back over. Been about 5 years since lived in melbourne but that was only 8 months to save money. From there we drove all the way to Darwin! Good times xx

Hello guys been a while I know been back in uk for almost a year and half now. Not settled at all. Long story short so off to melbourne for a look with fresh eyes so to speak. Gonna do a wanted down under tour lol lived in melbourne before for 6 months so know bits sothlands bon beach area looking for semi rural suburbs not miles from the beach also any info on keeping a horse over there ;-) i loved mornington last time we lived there anywhere green and pretty many thx xxx

We got ours with no intention of EVER going back and living there. After a year of bad weather stress and not much spare cash in the uk all I'm saying is I'm glad we got a get out card if you can get it , get it you never know what the future holds xxx

New rules in place 29th dec you have to travel 5 days either side of pets. It's due to all the European puppy farming. fourcorners are the Heros of the day they have helped me by putting forward their flights , thanks guys awesome !!! Xx

Hi all, can an anyone possibly help? $50 to you :-) Dogtainers are shipping my dogs back from perth to Manchester in February but due to EU new law someone has to travel within 5 days. Unfortunatly we are already in the uk. The person would only need to email their details to dogtainers. They would be in no way responsible for the dogs what so ever. You can travel five days before or after not the same flight even please if anyone can help please I am totally stressed I want my babies home!!! Thanks in advance xxx
