kelpiecat
Hi, just wondered, I have a degree, do I still need to take the IELTS test for my skilled visa?
Vanduex
I have do. Have my degree, I am a teacher of 8 years experience. Applying for a 189. The IELTS is still worth 10 or 15 points (can't remember off the top of my head). Extra points are good I suppose? Not sure on the official answer though. The good news is that this forum is rocking and somebody will rock up with the perfect answer.
lebourvellec
Depends.... if you need the points or not, if you dont need the extra points and hold a specific passport (UK, Irish, USA, Canada, New Zealand), then no you will not need to do the IELTS. But if you want to claim points for english ability you will require to sit the test - all 7's - 10 points, all 8's -20 points. All 6's or hold specific passport - no points. nic1171
Skills assessments for certain professions request it such as nursing and if its because of this make sure you know whether you need academic or not

Rupert
Hi, just wondered, I have a degree, do I still need to take the IELTS test for my skilled visa? If you have a passport from one of the countries mentioned, UK, Ireland, USA, Canada, New Zealand, then no IELTS is not compulsory.
nickyjkas
Like nic1171 said if its nursing you have to do the academic one and get 7 in each part, if you need extra points you have to get 8s. I have a nursing degree and have just done a pgdip but had to do IELTS xx Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
grahamffc
Yes, I did and I have a degree from a Engiish university. That was for a 175 skilled migrant visa as an accountant though. As Rupert points out perhaps I does not apply to all visa types or all professions. It seems rediculous but its their rules to make up do what you gonna do?
