  1. Thank you Joe for your reply. So it should take another one to two months after CO has been appointed before grant of visa (assuming one promptly supplies all further information and payment requested)?
  2. Anyone? "We are currently assessing for finalization applications lodged up to 08 October 2013." DIBP Does "assessing for finalisation" mean your CO has been appointed?
  3. "We are currently assessing for finalization applications lodged up to 08 October 2013." DIBP Does "assessing for finalisation" mean your CO has been appointed? Or does it mean the final stage after AOS, Form 80, Police Checks and Medicals have been received and approved? Incidentally, looking at Form 80, I notice that a lot of the questions on it are similar to the original Form 47PA? Is Form 80 requested at a later date in order to ensure all information is up to date?
  4. Hi Folks! I'm operating on the basis that it will take 2 years from date of lodgement before I have my visa granted (all going well). I intend to continue on enjoying life as normal here (and hopefully avoid stressing over this move?). I have made a (slow) start on decluttering - long overdue anyway! A friend of mine used to say "everything comes to those who know how to wait". Come to think of it, I think he's dead now! Anyway, all we can do is chill out and let the Department work its magic (slowly?!). tral12
  5. How do I add details of my application at bottom of post, please. I've seen somewhere on a forum post that it has something to do with editing my signature? However I cannot locate it or edit my signature on my profile. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

    visa agents

We have also used GO MATILDA and found them to be very knowledgeable, helpful and efficient. They have lodged our application for a 143 CPV from their Melbourne office last Friday. The fact that they have offices in Southampton, UK and also in Melbourne (and Brisbane and Perth) that liaise seamlessly is an added advantage. I know many people apply independently for their visas but I found that the services of a good agent (such as GO MATILDA) iwas invaluable for solving a number of queries that arose in the application process.
  7. Hi Andy, With regular payments, are you not depending on the Australian Bank's exchange rates? Would it not be more cost effective to use a currency exchange company to transfer larger sums say every three months (if you are prepared to wait)? tral12
  8. Thank you Alan for your reply. I think the 143 visa makes things somewhat simpler regarding travelling to and from Australia while waiting for the grant of the visa. I hope to be in touch with your company shortly.
  9. I'm still trying to get a handle on the Aged CPV (864) - as opposed to the CPV 143. I understand that it is possible to apply for this Visa (864) if you are in Australia on an Evisitor Visa? Can you then leave Australia before your Evisitor Visa expires? if you are offshore when asked to do the medical can the medical be done offshore? can the PCC be submitted from offshore? Can you get an Evisitor Visa to return to Australia to be onshore when the Aged Parent (864) Visa is granted? it's bugging me! Please help, someone!
  10. But then she will have the expense of travelling with family from Australia to UK and may be limited in amount of time she can spend in UK because of work and school commitments? Also having people to stay when you're older? And if you're ill she'll be worried being at other side of the world, if you have no other family in UK? I'm depressing myself now!
  11. Surely the Onshore Aged Parent Visa is intended only for exceptional circumstances? As it is an "Onshore" Visa, then the applicant, more than likely, is in Australia on a tourist visa? I presume that the 864 Visa should only then be applied for if the applicant is unable to leave Australia due to some reason?
  12. I am curious as to whether there are many on the Parents Forum who are migrating to Australia from Ireland? They may have found some differences between Ireland and the UK with regard to documentation, availability of agents, shipping etc? I would be interested in knowing if this is the case - as we are now intending to apply for the 143 visa.
  13. Thank you all for your replies and very helpful advice. If using an agent, is it better to use an an agent based in Australia or the UK, or indeed in Ireland where we are living? I realise that some agents have offices both in Australia and the UK. There are only a small number of agents in Ireland.
