Moving for the kids - what does that mean?

You do realize we are in the middle of the driest year on record in the UK.

Have you ever been to Lancashire? I don't know whether it's the driest year on record in these parts. If it is, that doesn't mean that it's dry. Just that it has been less soaking than normal. It feels as though we have had fewer months of continuous drizzle, but that didn't make me feel any better when I was hanging out the last batch of scout tents to dry indoors.

We haven't had a hosepipe ban here which is odd for the 'driest year on record'. And my lawn stayed lush all summer without a sprinkler.

The weather isn't my main reason for moving but I'm really looking forward to some sunshine. However, my eldest son says he's not particularly looking forward to the Oz weather as he loves the cold and rain.
