Claretjon
Hi, we'll be validating next April / May and wonder if anybody has any recommendations for a hotel / apartment in Canberra for 6 nights that won't break the bank? Also, we're looking at hiring a car whilst we're in Canberra but ideally would like to drop it back at Tullamarine airport on the way back (we'll be flying into Canberra but are looking at driving back down to Melbourne). Does anybody know the best place that will hire from Canberra but let us drop off at Melbourne? Thanks a lot
Guest The Pom Queen
Are you wanting a budget hotel or a reasonable priced hotel? The reason I ask is that there are a lot of hotels that are cheap but you wouldn't want children staying there. Take a look here for some ideas: http://www.wotif.com/search/TextSearch?assumedCountry=AU&isoCurrencyCode=AUD&child4Age=1&searchTerms=canberra&child3Age=1&children=0&child1Age=1&country=AU&child9Age=1&child2Age=1&adults=0&child6Age=1&child7Age=1&child5Age=1&child8Age=1&startDay=2012-03-16&page=25&viewType=all Car hire all major car hire companies do one way they just charge you extra. n30nra1n
We used car3000 for our one way from Sydney to Canberra the rate they provided was actuality via Europcar and there was no additional one way drop off fee which really surprised me. --- I am here: http://maps.google.com/maps?ll=-35.171719,149.106256
Claretjon
Thanks for the info. Looking at staying at the Canberra motor village but some of the reviews on trip advisor are a bit iffy. That said, you'll always find some complaints about everywhere
surhythms
We used carhire 3000 aswell. We collected the car in Sydney and dropped it off on Canberra. Canberra hotels are expensive. Try takeabreak.com or stays.com or maybe a gumtree search
Zman
If you time your trip so that you avoid Canberra when Parliament is sitting you should find accommodation both cheaper and more readily available (unless some event is being held - eg. conference, sports tournament).
