Help on Canberra!!!!

Were finally taking the plunge and are applying for regional sponsorship to Canberra…about time too!!!, we find ourselves with a bit of a dilemma and need some help!. We both heard some good things about Canberra and it seems to be a good place to live, but then we have also recently heard some really bad things about it, its boring, lack of jobs…etc.

I hope we haven’t offended anyone with this, but we are now wondering if we made the right decision to send our application form for Canberra…fingers crossed we haven’t

It's only as boring as you choose to make it - if you have plenty of interests then you should be able to find something to entertain you however, it is like any other big Aussie suburban city but with less travel time between things to do.

 

Jobs can be hard to find and it really depends on your occupation - people in IT are on the list for skills in demand but a lot of jobs are out of their reach because of citizenship and security issues. Accommodation is tight and the range of rental properties isnt always very inspiring TBH.

 

If you have to live in Australia you could do far worse than Canberra!

Depends on what you like .... tons to do if you like outdoors ! great if you have a family and unemployment is low, even if you'vr heared different !

+ the coast is only a couple of hrs, so is the skiing and Sydney is 3 hrs. So no reason to be bored !

 

We came to Canberra in January and whats not to like..very little traffic , blue skies .... the list is long !

Thanks guys for the reply, my wife is a Butcher by trade and im employed as a Credit Analyst/Loans officer...would these jobs be hard to find in Canberra?
