My hubby who is an Aussie has a transfer with his work to the head office in CBD, Sydney. Should be fun, just a bit daunting at present.

well my partner does laminating for sunseeker boats, he makes the hulls.., and i am either a manager, security, or a personal fitness trainer...not sure which direction i will go depends on the money i guess ( i would like the fitness one best however )...we will be origionaly going to a place called wyong , about 80 k out of sydney...near gosford..as my father owns a 4 bedder property there with 4 acres...and he said we could stay with him for as long as needed (thankfully)..then we will be looking for jobs and a rental on the northern side of sydney..im kinda guessing $450 a week for a 2 bedder unit will be ok between us...my other half is very worried as we cant find any jobs labled the same as his on the internet ..but im guessing they must call his line of work something else there, plus we dont know any really good sites to view jobs.....surely they have boat laminators/builders there....???????..i havent been into australia to work before as left when i was only 11 and im 32 now.. ...even though i am a born auzzy...its still very daunting..i am optomistic but the other half is panicing about leaving his job here and earning money......

Hi there,

I think your price range is achieveable depending on the area. Yep the job labels may be different. If your man specialises in Sunseeker boats (presumably in the UK) can he get any referrals through the company he works for/or Sunseeker itself? -- Just a thought. I have a friend who is also moving from Dubai and also married to an Aussie who is a boat mechanic he might be able to help your chap with terminology. The only thing is that they are currently on hols and out of reach. Once they return I will certainly ask if there is any boat terminology for what your chap does.

Having previously worked on yachts in the Caribbean, as a charter cook and first mate on sailing yachts and gin palaces :-) I am unsure if your chap is a laminator for interiors or he does the treating on the fiberglass or he does the anti-fouling which is it?

Don't worry about work, life is like an orange you peel back the skin and get a juicy surprise. There will always he good things to come you just have to believe in your destiny:-)

Have a good day,

Petra:wink:

Hi Katt,

Can you email me to petra@phcommunications and I will copy in Kim (Marika's) hubby the Aussie boat engineer and he might have some leads for your man. Also I do quite a bit of research and may be able to assist but can't do this through the forum.

All the best,

Petra

Hey Guys,

I will be moving to Sydney as soon as my De-Facto visa is approved. Only just applied so looks like I have quite a wait yet. Fingers crossed though. I think I will be living North of the City but it all depends on work for me and my gf as we are both still in the UK at the moment.

Good luck to all of you waiting on visa approvals!

Hi Petra, We are fellow Glos locals been out in Sydney now for 9 years, is a great place, we've moved around Sydney over the years and we only have good things to say for it. Good luck with the move.

Hey Kat I'd be amazed if your hubby didn't fall into a job in the Sydney area we are a harbor and coastal city so if he's a boaty he's well away.

Steve
