kenny01
Hello mate, any general information on this would be appreciated. I have an NVQ level 3 in heavy vehicles, specialising in diesel engines and much experience in armed forces, may be a good thing or a bad thing! Cheers. sussex boy
First step is applying mate ! On a serious note the alice isn`t for everyone, except the million or so toursits who head this way to escape city life for a bit every year for a break in the red centre. We have been flat out since I started here last August, we service and repair mostly fleets of 4wd and light trucks/pickups. we could do with someone happy to either service work or someone further along who can( or wants to learn) gearbox, transfer and axle rebuilds. 8-4 5 day week, no late nights or shifts, Sat morning overtime if you want it. Just ask if you want to know anything else, Employer has spnsored over a dozen staff into 4 different garages so is happy to do the paperwork etc.

sussex boy
Thaks mate, you may want to take that enquiry to the migration section, good luck with Perth, I tried 45 dealerships and was rejected out of hand by all of them, hence the move to the Alice-) Paperwork for the 457 and the rsms visa is nearly the same, certified passport and birth certs. , education and vocational certs. city and guilds etc, any references you have etc, chest xray for 457 and medical for the rsms visa. Good luck
Guest colinthomas
Hi mate i think tbh with the changes in skilled migration visa and like you say the lack of opportunity in getting an employer to sponsor it may be game over for managing to get out there at the moment
sussex boy
Same same mate, I was applying when the global money crisis hit, the offer to the alice came out of the blue, thought a 457 then sponsored onto the permanent rsms was better than being unemployed in the uk, arrived with the mrs and 1200 quid -), or I could of just sat and waited for somthing better, in all across Australia as you can see from my older posts I applied for over two hundred jobs from cairns to geraldton ! I even paid for one failed application myself, Good luck with the move, but a year or two in a country area will get you `in` with the work experience helping for a permanent visa or two years on an rsms = permanent resident. Being a small town bloke I couldn`t see me living in the middle of a big city anywhere. It takes me five minutes to get across town to work everday-), will head for the beach maybe when a couple of years or more have passed, but I,m 3 hours closer to the east coast cities than being in Perth . Guest colinthomas
The only thing that scares me about being in a more rural area is i have a little one he's 5 in june don't want to land him somewhere where his education may affected. I have a job in the UK but the wages are so S**T it's really beyond a joke. I could go and do a one week monkey course in security and be on more than i am now. Anyway well done for getting out there mate glad your hard work and persistence paid off

sussex boy
If you`re thinking about the move and haven`t found a sponsor then the contact email is there for you to apply, good luck and might see some of you soon-). The schools I can`t vouch for,but the local hospital and midwives have been great though, have become a father for the first time at 43 on the 28th of April.
