skills assessment

Hi all,

After enjoying a nice break with my family, I am back to the paperwork for the 176 visa. It's a long way to Canberra and my first big task is to pass the skills assessment by Vetassess as Project administrator.

From 1997 to 2007 I worked as partner for 3 companies (mainly 2, really) with a number of other partners, and none of the companies exist any longer. I believe my former accountant won't have much trouble putting together the evidents , starting from the declaration. I have already sent some proforma (from an old thread here ). Though, I have not been earning much especially during the last 2-3 years. I was from time to time contracted by one of my companies to carry out some work within some specific ongoing projects.

Refering to the period from 1997 to 2007, my questions are:

- How many contracts shall I provide?

- How many invoices?

- Shall I provide my companies taxation records?

I am feeling a little bit confused.

Can you give me some advice, please?

Simone

To pass VETASSESS you must hold a relevant qualification assessed as comparable to an Australian diploma (or a higher qualification) and depending on the content of your qualification/s a period of relevant work experience. Do not let the grass grow under your feet. You would be well advised to consult a registered migration agent for an asessment.

Thanks for the reply.

At the moment I have no migration agent, and I'd prefer not to due to the costs. I may reconsider my choice, though.

I've checked again the requirements in terms of work experience, and they want 3 years specific experience during the 4 years immediatly preceding the application. Same rule for DIAC and ACT when applying for 176 visa.

If my interpretation is correct, what I have done before year 2007 is not really relevant, provided that I have my qualifications of course.

If this is true, the only relevant evidence from my old companies would be any contract, invoices, or else from Jan 2007 or so.

Does it make sense?

This could actually be a problem. In 2007 my companies were doing really little trade, I was unemployed from Jan to May 2008, and from June to Sep I have done some really basic clerical job (money is money!).

The 3 out of 4 years experience is not mandatory, but it assists many people in meeting the points requirement.

But there is a mandatory requirement to have worked for 12 of the 24 months immediately preceeding the application lodgement. Unfortunately you do not appear to meet this requirement, thus the skills assessment questions are moot.

Thanks for the clarifications.

I am less worried for DIAC requiements now since I do meet the 12 of 24 months requirement. Apologies for not been clear in my emails last night.

I am concerned about providing evidence for the 3 to 4 years that seem to be requiered by ACT nomination guidelines for 176:

Provide evidence that you have a minimum of 3 years and relevant work experience in the nominated occupation

The guidelines are downloadable from:

Business and Industry Development - Skilled Migration

Hello Experts

Need a suggestion..

I have filed my PR assesment for Vetassess in the ACT new plan during mid nov 2010.

Am a film director and was teaching in a film school since 2008,nov.

I have filed my case as vocational teacher(non trades)

Now i have an opportunity to join an Advertising Agency as a Film maker for the TVC and ADs.

Can i opt for this opportunity? Or i should continue with film teaching till i get my PR?

And will Teaching Films will be counted as Vocational(non Trade) exp under ACT SMP list?

Guys (last two posters) - you seem to have hijacked OPs thread when she still has questions.

Correct netiquette would be to start your own threads.

Sorry pumpkin..will not happen again.... :)

by the way i started a new thread for my question
