Please could soeone tell me if I can take my large VHS tape collection to Oz, or wo'nt they work.

Hi!

But VCR now no longer used to play the videos. You can convert your VHS to DVD an enjoy in new look with best quality.

I wonder if the OP still uses his VHS collection.

 

Does anyone still use video tapes?

Just to clarify, a UK made VHS player will work fine in Aus as long you you connect it to your TV with video and audio leads. The only thing that won't work is plugging it in via the antenna connection (and, for the same reasons, you also can't use it to record off air--but I don't know anybody that does that any more anyway).

 

For the technically minded, the analogue pictures and sound in Australia are identical to the UK. The difference comes when these pictures are converted to radio waves for transmission--at this point there are differences in how things are handled.
