Guest lynneand mark
Trying to sort through many years worth of bank statements, pay slips, creditcard statements, utilities bills ........ it goes on forever. Does anyone know what exactly we need to keep to take with us? How many years of bank statements do we need? Do we need to keep any utilities bills or just the final statement of closure of the account. Obviously if you move within the UK then you can just stick it in the filing cabinet 'just in case' but we don't want to lug stuff half way accross the world that we don't need! Thanks in advance, I know somebody will know! Lynne
ali
Lynne, We only brought the last few just in case we needed to rent and we could prove we were good payers, but didn't need them. We closed our accounts in uk so it didn't matter, we haven't been asked for anything like that. When we applied for our mortgage they wanted proof of earnings from here in Aus and that we were both employed on permanant contracts and a statement from the bank confirming we had the deposit (we just got an atm statement).
